MIA'S POV
“Is she okay?”
“I think I just saw her move a limb,” said a female voice.
I could barely hear the conversation happening by my bedside as I slowly regained consciousness. My head ached like I had a concussion, and I tried moving my limbs but they felt heavy and sore.
Thoughts of the previous day came reeling into my mind as I felt the two people who were with me in the room, standing up from my bed to leave the room, probably to let me continue resting.
I waited until I could barely hear their footsteps before opening my eyes slowly.
As I slowly opened my eyes, everything that happened the previous day once again flashed before me.
Did that really happen?
Did I celebrate my birthday with Mr Stones?
Did I meet Steve and get rejected?
"No, no, no, it can't simply be possible. It was probably just a bad dream" I said out loud, trying to console myself.
I wished myself a happy birthday with a smile, believing it was my birthday, until I looked up and noticed that I was staring at a ceiling that I knew I'd never seen in any room in Mr Stones' house.
While I tried retracing my steps mentally, it dawned on me that my clothes were not on, and I rarely slept naked.
Afraid that the flashes in my head may be memories and not just a dream, I reflexively checked my hands and legs.
"Phew", I breathed a sigh of relief as they looked normal like nothing had happened.
“Did I really turn into a wolf?
"Was it all a dream?”
“Where am I right now?” I questioned myself and everything on my mind as I slowly raised my body to sit upright.
“...yes,” a female voice said, jerking me out of my thoughts.
“I'm going to the kitchen to get her something to eat, I think she's regaining consciousness,” the voice said before retreating to where I believed to be the kitchen.
I tried as gently as I possibly could to get up from the bed but my body refused and protested for more rest. I lifted my arms to sniff myself but my face wrinkled and my nose was irked by the stench that emanated from my body.
Appalled by my scent, feeling sore and hungry, I laid back to rest when a lady walked into the room with a gown hanging on her arm and a tray adorned with chips and bacon whose aroma made my stomach rumble and my intestines chant.
“Oh, you're awake. Here's your food, and new clothes. Put it on” she said with a blank look on her face.
How did I get here naked?
What really happened?
I thought about this before my hunger invaded my thoughts with rumbling sounds reflecting the cry of my intestines.
I almost jumped up to eat despite how weak I felt, but I had concerns and without thinking, I blurted out the first thing that came to my mind, “Please do you know where I am, how I got here, or how I can leave?"
She glared at me and remained mute. “If you're not going to do me the courtesy of answering my questions, I will not be eating this food that may have poison in it” I retorted, hungry but determined to live.
She stared at me for a few seconds and stepped out with the tray containing the food she had brought for me, but she left the cloth.
I was screaming in my head for just rejecting chips and bacon whilst my tummy was doing backflips. I tried listening to overhear any conversations but all I heard were her footsteps going farther and farther away.
Left alone once again, I decided to put on the clothes as I scanned the room with my eye for escape routes, out of fear that the next person that'll walk through that door might not be offering me food.
I noticed the only possible way out of this room was through the door. The window would have been an escape route if I was a baby, cause that's how small the window was, and it was close to the ceiling. I mentally facepalmed myself.
"Not again," I thought.
Amidst my dilemma, the door creaked open, and my attention was drawn to the sight of the lady that had just left, accompanied by three well-built-looking men with stern faces that made me want to wet myself out of fear.
“You've been summoned,” one of the men said with his lips barely moving, but his words were well received. They stared as I struggled to roll to the edge of the bed and slowly lowered my left leg followed by my right, which enabled me to sit upright.
I stood up after mustering some body strength but my stance favoured my left leg, leaving my right leg suspended just a little bit in the air.
The one who spoke to me moved in front to show me which direction to follow as the remaining two trailed behind, probably to stop me from running away.
Where could they be taking me to?
What will they do to me?
Mr. Stones must be worried sick right now.
I thought about this countless times in the short time it took me to walk to where the man leading the way stopped and turned to his side, giving me a profile view with one hand gesturing to an open door.
I limped into the room and I noticed two more guards by the door and two more by the chair where a stern but good-looking man was seated with another man standing close to him. They seemed to have just ended a discussion as their eyes turned to give me a stare so deep I could feel a hole in my forehead.
I bowed my face in fear and shyness and then I heard, “Kneel before the alpha”.
I looked up to see who said it and the person standing close to the man seated said again, this time with a thundering voice, “Kneel before the alpha!!”
That sent chills down my spine and, with fear coursing through my bones and my knees quivering at the sound of his voice, I slowly lowered my body to kneel, but I lost my balance and I fell to the ground, leaving me helpless to the call of gravity.
I looked up at them from the floor hoping for support to get on my feet, but none came. They stared at me impatiently as I picked myself up to my knees to kneel as I had been commanded.
When I was on my knees and with my head bowed, he asked sternly, "Who are you and what did you come here for?"
"I-I-I'm Mia, and, I don't know where I am right now", I stammered with my voice quivering.
"You don't know where you are?"
"Are you some sort of spy?"
"Who sent you?" He yelled angrily in disbelief.
"N-N-Nobody sent me, I don't know where I am or how I got here but…" I started crying while trying to answer sincerely but they weren't flinching.
"You mean that you don't know how your legs carried you out of your house, brought you into my territory, the howl you made, and how you tried running away from me when you heard my footsteps?" The man that was seated said angrily and with utter disbelief, cutting my explanation short, as he stood up and charged towards me with blazing eyes.
"I was scared, that's why I ran", I said in between sobs.
"Unbelievable. You were scared and somehow found yourself in my territory?" The man I believed to be the person running this place said.
"She's not ready to tell us who sent her to spy on us, so until she's ready, she'll be thrown into the dungeon and will only be brought out or given food when she's ready to talk. Take her away!!!" he added impatiently.
"No please, I'm not a spy. Nobody sent me here. I just want to get home to Mr Stones" I said, begging and sobbing but it fell on deaf ears.
Two guards came to drag me away to the dungeon as instructed by the one seated.
"Please just tell me where I am. Please just let me send a message home. Please, I'm begging you. I'm not a spy." I continued begging while I was being dragged away and sustaining new injuries as I kept falling.
All my pleas fell on deaf ears and I started sobbing loudly, praying for a miracle to happen.
"STOP!!!" another voice interjected suddenly, bringing everyone to a halt.
