“ALL DONE, VENT. Shift is over. I hope this is your last time down below. The caisson’s not for you—Venture Simmons is a tower man for sure,” Connor McCloskey offered as he helped Vent make his way out of the air chamber. By the time the duo started to walk toward the employee sheds, the pain in Vent’s joints had become extreme. Connor whispered, “Picking you up isn’t a good idea. I don’t want them to think you’re not fit for work on Monday. You’ll be fine once you rest up this weekend.”
