Chapter Five Gideon’s smile faded and he stared at her for a moment. “I told him humans don’t belong in this world. He said he’d once believed that and no matter how homesick he occasionally gets, he’ll never go back.” Gideon gestured in the direction they’d been travelling. “Are you ready to go? We need to be by water again before dark. The Hunt never gives up.” Nodding, she twisted the ring on her finger, feeling the word engraved on it. When Gideon moved away from the water’s edge, she washed her hands before joining him, keeping plenty of distance between them. Several times she looked towards him, trying to figure him out.
