Angels in the dark

It was the sixteenth birthday of Gabi and Dani they were both sitting on there mothers bed trying to decide what they wanted to do for there sweet sixteen birthday party. “Listen I don’t really feel like having a party you know I hate my birth day” Dani said with a constipated but serious look on her face. “Come on Dani it will be fun our theme can be saints and sinners” Gabi said with a huge excited grin on her face. Gabi had been waiting so long for her sixteenth birthday and she wasn’t about to let her sister ruin it for her, she was going to throw a party weather her sister liked it or not. “Alright we’ll have a stupid party but I don’t want any part of it” Dani got up to go shower and get ready for the shopping day Gabi had planned. Gabi popped up off the bed and went straight to planning there sweet sixteenth birth day party. They both got dressed and were ready to go shopping. Dani had put on a pair of black skinny jeans and a tight black vest to match her black leather jacket, boots and handbag. Gabi had put on her light blue denim jeans with a light blue top to match her light blue denim jacket, high heels and handbag. They had arrived at Grand view shopping centre and the first shop they walked into was called grounded, they pick out there party outfits. They both decided to go as angels, saints to be exact. They bought all the party decorations grabbed a coffee to go and went home to start the party. Gabi had decorated the whole house in black and white. She had put out snacks and drinks for every one. She went to get ready and then the door bell rang. An hour later people were pouring in like rain. The party was amazing the guests looked stunning and the music was pounding. We would probably get complaints from the neighbours in the morning but I didn’t care it was our night tonight. The party had ended just after twelve pm mom and dad would be home soon, so I started to clean up in half an hour the place was spotless. It was as if we never even through a party. I went up stairs got dressed into my pj’s and climbed into bed. I started to feel a sharp pain in my shoulder. I curled up in a ball hopping it would go away the pain was unbearable. But then it was gone. Tomorrow I would wake up and I would be sixteen. I can’t believe Gabi would make me have this stupid party I hated every second of it, she’s such a spoiled brat. Well I suppose she did do a lot to make it a special day for us. Plus she did clean up all by her self. I hopped into the shower and felt the warm sharp points of the water as they fell to my back it felt so relaxing after a long day. I got dressed into my pj’s and climbed into bed feeling the soft sensational warmth as my head hit the pillow, oh how I love my bed. I started to feel a sharp pain in my shoulder it was like no pain I’ve ever felt before it was agenizing, I clutched on to my shoulder hopping the pain would go away. It eventually did. I fell asleep waiting till tomorrow was over till my birthday was over. Gabi and Dani were both woken up by there alarms, they both stood down stairs making coffee, on the kitchen counter was two little ring boxes and a card. They opened up the card that said: dear Dani and Gabi Happy 16 birthday hope you have a wonderful birthday Lots of love mom and dad. They both reached for there presents and sitting in each box was a car key. They raced to the garage and sitting in it was two Mini Coppers one white and one black. They had both looked at each other with glowing smiles and ran to there new cars. TWO DANI’S POINT OF VIEW I was standing in front of my car not sure of what to do next, I looked at my keys and push my thumb on the open button when I got into my car I sat back and felt the smoothness of the sweet leather, I put my one hand on the steering wheel while the other was turning the key all of a sudden I felt that sharp pain in my shoulder again I decided to drive to the chemist and get some back rub. I pulled up in front of Tony’s chemist, as I walked through the entrance a bell rang. TING! TING! I walked towards the counter and there stood a tall, brown haired man, wearing a vomit green sweater and big, round, black spectacles. “Hi do you have any cream for back ache” I said standing in front of the counter rubbing my shoulder. The man behind the counter just nodded his head and turned towards the medicine shelf when he came back, he handed me a long box with two orange strips across it and a silver one through the middle, after he had scanned the box I had handed him the amount that shown up on the screen, I grabbed the box and got back into my car. I decided to go home and have a nice hot bath, I pulled into the driveway and ran upstairs to take a bath. I sat on my bed reading the side effects of the cream, waiting for the water to fill up the bath, I slipped my foot into the boiling hot water until my whole naked body was coved with water. As I laid my head down I pulled my finger through my short black curly hair, the steam was dancing off my naked body. Once I was out I sat on my bed and I picked up the cream I had gotten from the chemist and rubbed it onto my shoulders. I walked towards my cupboard and opened the left door I pulled out a silky green pyjama dress from the third shelf, I slipped it over my big head and climbed into bed. I curled in the shape of a fetes and pulled my pillows down to my knees. the pain in my shoulder had not gone away I could feel needles peeling through my skin from the inside of my body then the next morning the pain was gone and it felt like I was lying on a bed covered in feathers. I pushed my blanket off and stood in fort of a mirror and attached to my back were these big grey fluffy wings on my back about four meters tall and all I could think of is what…..the…..fuck when I turned around their was a tall looking man in a brown trench coat with white wings bigger than mine standing in front of me. “Good evening my name Camiel one of Gods angels and you are one of the angels that are going to save humankind. You were sent here by God 16 years ago so you could grow up among the humans to be able to understand them” He said with a very calm but serious look on his face. “Okay I’m not even christen” I said confused. “Yes will since that’s the problem here” he threw a black book at me when I turned it over there said ‘The Holy Bible’. I ran down stairs and I got in my car and went to the park to think and the first person I could think of to call was Gabi, I pulled my phone out from the back of my pocket when I flipped it open to dial her number my phone was dead. “f**k! What now?” I walked around the park looking for a phone booth, but God help me I couldn’t f*****g find one. “Oh my f*****g God you’ve got to be f*****g kidding me this is park Central f*****g park, how can there be no phone booths!” I said out loud to myself stumbling around like an i***t, then I slapped myself really hard on my forehead realising I have a charger for my phone in the car. I stumbled back to my car, opening my door I climbed in and plugged my phone into charge, a red light flashed showing that it is on charge I tried to turn it on but it was completely dead, so I decided to go home and see if maybe Gabi had come back. As I pulled into the driveway the front door was open, I walked towards the door slowly pushing it until it was completely open, and I popped my head in. Hello! Anyone home? As I walked through the door I saw someone standing in the kitchen. “Who’s there?” I got such a fright when I realised it was just Lyle. “Hey Dani is your sister home?” “No why the f**k do you want to see Gabi? She doesn’t even like you, look you have to leave I don’t have time for this I’ve got more important things to do now get out. I grabbed the home phone and dialled Gabi’s number. RING, RING, RING! You have reached the voice mail of (072 113 4544) leave a message after the tone, BEEP. I hung up thinking of what a moron I am to think Gabi would ever pick up her phone after we had a fight. Now what do I do its not like I need Gabi, no she’s just the one who makes all the decisions and helps me with everything and now the angry b***h doesn’t pick up her damn phone. Now I’m a non-christen who has wings attached to her back this is a punishment for not believing in God mom and dad told me to pray and I didn’t listen and now I have f*****g wings. I heard something brake upstairs I saw a shadow on the wall it’s a person with wings and the first thing I thought of was danger, I grabbed the home phone and hid behind the counter as I was about to dial 911 the phone rang. Shit! “Hello?” “Hey it’s me” “Gabi I tried to call you” “I know my phone died” “Ya mine too listen there someone in the house” “What! Who?” “I don’t know but the thing has wings” “Okay this is what you’re going to do you goanna push out your wings fly thru the roof” “Okay, wait how did you know…?” “Just do it” I hung up the phone and as Gabi said I pushed out my wings it felt like little blades pushing thru my shoulder blades it was the worst pain I had ever felt, as I pushed myself up and shot thru the roof I got the biggest adrenalin rush. I started to slow down I could feel the cold, fresh wind breezing thru my wings it was the most incredible feeling I had ever felt. I settled down next to my car, I grabbed my keys and got into the car. “I’ll drive, move over” he shoved me aside and started the car. “Where are you taking me?” I picked up my phone and opened it, it was turned on I dialled Gabi’s number. RING, RING, RING, RING! “Hello” just hearing the sound of Gabi’s voice calmed me down. “Hey it’s Dani where should I meet you?” “At that bridge were we use to play when we were little” “That’s a two day drive from here” “I know but I’m already on my way?” “Okay ill meet you there, you should pull over for the night find a hotel to stay in and be careful” “Ya you too, oh and Dani I love you” “I love you too ill see you soon” I put down the phone ‘Okay so who the f**k are you?” “Do you trust me?” “I guess I do since I let you in my car” I looked at him with a sarcasm look on my face. “Were going to a hotel, you need to get some rest we start training tomorrow” We pulled over at blue dhal hotel, I couldn’t understand why he was helping me. He stepped out the car, my eyes followed him all the way to my car door, and he opened it and held out his hand and stupid me I took it. DING! The door bell rang as I walked thru the front entrance. “Hi how can I help you?” the old women said as I walked towards the counter, she had short red hair and a pair of cat shaped gasses around her neck and long red fingernails. “You can get us a sweet with two separate beds and a television with it” a strange young man about two years older than me said to the women behind the counter. Sorry we only have one room open and it only has one bed” she said putting her cat eyed looking glasses on. “Well take it” I handed her some cash and in exchange she gave me a key. We took the stairs the elevator was out of order, once we got up stair for some reason as I slipped the key into the lock I quickly opened my mouth. “Wait who are?” “My name is Michael and I’m here to help ill explain everything once where inside” I turned the key and pushed the door open I was so glad that the bed was a double bed. “Demons first” I pointed my hand out with hospitality. “I’m not a demon” he said walking inside. “Then why were you with demons” I closed the door behind me. “You might want to lock that” “Why? They’ll break it down anyways, stop trying to change the subject” I turned around with my hand to my hips. He sat down on the bed with his face in his hands. “Are you okay?” I sat down next to him and put my hand on his shoulder. He put his hand on mine and lifted his head to look at me. "So are you going to tell me what's going on?" I asked him hoping that he would tell me the truth. "Well it all started a long time ago when god and Lucifer had a disagreement..." He told me the story of how it all began and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "So now my sister and I are what? Suppose to save the world!" "Well that’s what I heard so yes that's about right" "But I don't even know how to fight never mind killing demons" "I’ll teach you but for now let's get some rest" "I'm going to take a shower first" He moved his hand, I pulled mine away too and ran to the bathroom I slammed the door behind me. “Dani I didn’t mean to…” “Look I know it’s a little early and we just met…” I was leaning against the door. “Yes” he had his hand on the handle ready to come in. “But I think I started my period and I kind of need a tampon” my face went blood red of embarrassment. I hit my head against the door and put my hand in my pocket. I climbed into a nice hot shower and thought about how pissed Michaels going to be when he finds out it was a false alarm. I climbed out the shower and put on my vest and underwear there was no way in hell I’m going to sleep in cloths. "Oh my God! Who are you?" I got such a fright when I saw a tall man with black hair and a pale looking face he was kind of beautiful. "I'm Samuel and I'm looking for Michael" “He stepped out for a second he’ll be right back" "I seriously doubt that" he walked towards me with an evil looking smile on his face. I stepped back and he came towards me, then I thru a height kick and knocked him in the face. I couldn't believe what had just happened, he got up and clicked his neck then he grabbed me by the throat and pushed me up against the wall. "Your pretty good, I wouldn't try and fight an angel my dear" he pushed his lips against mine, I grabbed the telephone next to me and smashed him on the head with it. "You’re not the only angel around" I said grabbing my throat trying to ease the pain. As I stood up the door opened. "Samuel what do I Ow the pleasure" Michael asked him pushing the door until it was fully open. "Michael I've been looking for you" he walked towards Michael with a piece of silver of some sort. "Michael look out" I screamed running towards him. "I know" he grabbed Samuel by the neck and killed him with his own weapon, Samuel turned to golden ashes. "Is that what happens when you kill one?" "Samuel wasn't a full angel he's a niphilim" "A niphilim what's that" "Its half angel, half human" Then he left. I sat on the side of the bed and picked up the phone to call Gabi. “Hey Gab’s its Dani I’m okay and safe I’m with some angel named Michael” “Who was that” Michael closed the door behind him with some packets in his hand. “My sister, I left a message to let her know I’m okay. What’s that” I asked pointing at The packets. “Its food, I wasn’t sure what you liked so the options are burgers and fries or salad?” he held up the two bags, I grabbed the bag with the burgers and fries. After we ate I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, when I came back there was Michael with nothing but his underwear on climbing into bed. I had nothing to say so I just jumped in next to him like some angel w***e. “Michael what if I can’t do it?” “Do what?” he turned around to stare me in the face. “Save the world” I felt sad and scared for the very first time. Michael moved closer and wrapped his arm around me pulling me closer before I knew it he was pressing his lips against mine. “You’ll be fine, you know why?” “Why?” I asked with a big grin on my face. “Because I have faith in you and so does everyone else” he kissed me goodnight. "Good night" I whispered to myself. The forest was dark and damp, I stood there in a white dress covered in dirt. The dew drops were dancing on my head, it was beautiful but, something was terribly wrong. “Dani! Dani wake up, WAKE UP!” “Michael? MICHAEL WERE ARE YOU?” I could hear a voice in the far distance of the forest. “Huh, what?” I felt myself floating, when I looked up it was Michael. I jumped out his arms all of a sudden feeling dizzy and light headed, I fell to the ground not knowing what just happened. I felt myself floating again but, when I looked up again it was not the face of Michael’s. “You’re dead, he killed you” surprised to see Samuel’s face. “So young and naïve, did you really think I’d carry a real sword with me” he looked at me with laughter. “Michael? Michael…” I could not find myself to move out of the arms of death. “Ow” I felt a sharp poke in my shoulder. I started feeling very dizzy and sleepy, my body lifted as if someone picked me up when I turned my head to look up I saw an unfamiliar face. I turned to look at Michael, he was fast asleep, and I was in danger. I grabbed the blanket hoping to pull it off him. “Michael…Michael” I tried to call him but my voice was too soft. He opened his eyes and saw me being taken away; he jumped up, grabbed my arm and hit the man in the face. I fell half way on the bed. “MICHAEL” I grabbed the lamp next to me and smashed it over the demons head. A man grabbed me and ran out the door with me when I looked back there was Michael lying on the floor tied down. “DANI” Michael tried to get out. Everything started to get blurry again and then I passed out. “What was her name again?” “Um Gadi, Gati oh yes Gabi. Gabi, sweetie wake up” “Pour some water on her face, then maybe she’ll wake up” he pointed to one of his demons. I felt a cold substance upon my face. I looked around me and felt confined; when I looked down I realized I was tied to a chair. “What the hell?” I looked down at the tied rope confused. “Ah you’re awake, good” there stood a short, well dressed chubby man with a cane in his right hand. “Who are you and where am I?” I asked still trying to wiggle myself out the chair. “I am the great and powerful demon Crow” he said lifting his arms up and turning around. “I’m no expert but as far as I know Crow is a lower level demon. So I bet that if you untie me I could probably kick the crap out of” his smile quickly went away. “Listen her you little…when I get back its going to be with your sister and when I kill her I’m going to make you watch” “Sure okay, we’ll see about that” “you don’t believe me" he hit his cane on the ground. “oh no don’t get me wrong, you wanting her dead I totally believe but you catching her now that’s something I got to see, what is this hell?” “No my dear this place is much worse than hell” “Samuel, WERE’S MICHAEL?” I said trying to wiggle my way out of the chair. “Your lover boy can’t save you now, now let’s go and find that pretty little sister of yours” “Bernael, Bifrons keep an eye on her” Crow said. “So…”I looked around trying to figure a way out. “Shut up” Bernael told me feeling very pleased with himself. “Your boss told you to watch me not keep me quite, what is that?” I asked him staring at some weird marking on the ceiling above me. “It’s an angel charm” he looked at me as if I was supposed to know these things. “Angel charm?” I looked at him confused. “It means even if you somehow got out of that chair the charm will keep you from leaving that circle” “Hey” Michael knocked out the guy and ran to untie me. “Michael, how did you find me?” “I know Crow better than he knows himself” he lifted me up; I was still feeling a bit dizzy from the crap Crow shoved in me. “Now that’s true” Crow walked in injured. “I see you found my sister” “Yes you were right about her feisty little fella she just won’t do” he walked towards me leaning on his cane. “I’m going to kill you” Michael said pointing at him. “He’s not worth it” I said grabbing his hand. “Aw are you in love, don’t do it sweetie he’s only going hurt you in the end” Crow said out of breath. I looked up and the charm was Brocken I then walked towards him and punched him in the face, he fell to the ground. “Next time it won’t be just your face” I said bending over him. Michael grabbed my hand and pulled outside. “Where’s the car?” I looked to see if maybe he parked it out of sight, but no nothing. “Car? We’re going to fly” “Okay but where are we going?” I tried to concentrate I felt an excoriating pain in my back my wings slowly dug through my skin until they were completely out. “Your sister” “You know where she is?” “Yes, she’s with a friend of mine” “Um Michael” I look down realising I was still in my underwear. “Yes” he smiled. ‘I’m not an expert or anything but I’m pretty sure I’ll be quite cold flying in my underwear” He laugh then took off his trench coat and covered me with it and we were off. We headed back to the hotel to grab our thing and so I could put some clothes on. We headed into the room and my phone started ringing. RING! RING! RING! “Hey” “Wow that’s a first three rings and she picks up ladies and gentlemen” “Don’t start Gabi “I said rolling my eyes with huge grin on my face, I was really missing her. Dantanian snatched the phone from my hand I threw my hands up in the air what the f**k real mature I say to myself. “Put Michael on” an unfamiliar voice demanded. “Ah who’s this where’s my sister” I asked confused. “I’m Dantanian I’m a demon now that we’ve done introductions. Back to Michael” “Uh put my sister on the phone like now” “Hey who the hell is Dantanian” I asked Michael with my hand to the phone. “He’s a friend” “Listen miss bossy pants put Michael on its important” “Ok mister put my sister on the phone, as far as I’m concerned we’re the savior’s not you, what the hells all your part in this” now I was fuming. “Jesus they don’t call you twins for nothing listen newbie angel we’ve been fighting this war before you were born and we know how to finish it so put Michael on the phone so that we can all move on with our lives capesh” “Here he wants to talk to you, he’s really rude” I handed Michael the phone. “Hey” Michael answers the phone. “Hey Mic listen I’m thinking safe haven” “I’m thinking you apologies to Dani, then safe haven” “Oh come on, have you meet the chick, if I didn’t know she was an angel I’d think she’s one of us” “Don’t be shmuck, she’s stubborn and hard headed we all we not going anywhere until she gets an apology” “Fine” “I’m waiting” says Dani. “I’m so sorry your so stubborn and hard headed tell Mic ill meet him in safe haven bye” he hangs up “And?” Michael asked waving his hands in the air. “Well I’ve established that your friend is nothing like you, he’s rude, agnostic and egotistic” I said grinning. “Well they do say opposites attract” “I’m going to go change, wait where are we going by the way?” “Rome” “Like the city of love Rome?” “Yes that would be the one” “Why are we going there?” “We have some friends there, have you ever been?” “Yes, what friends?” “Did you like it there?” “It was beautiful, stop going off the subject, so is it demon friends or angel friends?” “Both” “So you trust demons?” “And you don’t?” “Not from what I’ve heard no” “And what have you heard?” “That they Lucifer’s followers” “That’s not exactly the way it goes” We didn’t have time for this I went to the bathroom to get changed, I put on the same thing I was wearing yesterday. We headed to my house, I had to get some clothes before we headed for Rome the city of love. Michael parked in the driveway, for some reason I still watched him as he came to open my door, there was something about him that I just couldn’t put my finger on it. Besides the fact that you jumped into bed with him with nothing but your underwear on and kissed him, a complete stranger, my subconscious rattled at me. Hey he kissed me I replied annoyed. Michael opened the door and reached out for my hand, as I reached out to grab it I felt this excruciating pain. “Ah” I screamed holding my side pulling my hand from his. “What? What’s the matter?” he asked concerned. “It my stomach it’s burning” I yelled now curled up in a ball on the car chair. “Dani I need you to lift up your shirt, I need to see what’s wrong” he pulled me from my chair to sit me up straight. “That’s impossible” he said pulling up my shirt. “What hell is that” I looked down, there was this weird sign burnt into my skin. “It’s the symbol of Ariel one of five arch angels” he said rubbing the back of his neck. “What does it mean?” “When you gain one of these symbols or all of them it’s supposed to give an angelic power for each symbol” “Will my sister have it?” “No it only happens to one angel every ten millennium’s” “Okay, so what do we call this one?” I looked up at him curiously. “Uh it’s… uh the symbol of Michael” he turned away so I couldn’t see his face. “Michael its okay we don’t have to talk about it” I grabbed his hand forcing him to face me. ‘Let’s get your things” he put his hand out again. I went upstairs to take a shower and get fresh clothes, I climbed out the shower and went to cupboard. I pulled out a dark blue pair of boot leg jeans, a white vest and cardigan and my vans snickers. I slipped everything on and grabbed a duffle bag and shove more clothes in. Went into my parents room to get money out the safe, I typed in the code.
