Blurb

Azalea never realized that it could only take a day for her life to be turned upside down. But she never expected to find love, especially with the worst man on earth, or so everyone thought.Damon, the man who everyone feared but yet still couldn’t get enough of. His handsome but brooding looks kept everyone at bay. No one dared to stand in his way and whenever he spoke, everyone ran scrambling to obey his every command. Yet she was the only one that could look him in the face and stand up to him.Damon knew he always had that effect on people, one minute they want to get closer to him and the next, they’re trying their best to avoid having any form of contact with him. Sometimes he wondered if he could just loosen up a bit and see what will happen but then he remembers where that got him before and he had sworn never again. He preferred keeping them at a distance and it didn’t matter as long as the job got done the way he wanted it. What he never anticipated was falling in love and so fast too. Was their meeting a chance of fate? Did life give them both a second chance to feel the one thing they needed most.

Graduation Day
Azalea’s POV: Lying wide awake in the early hours of this Monday morning wondering what the rest of this week held for me. I was still having mixed feelings about what it was going to be like finally graduating with honors but not getting to see the one person that mattered to me the most in the whole world at my ceremony. A lone tear rolled down my face as I thought of my mother and imagined the happiness that would have been on her face seeing me walk down the aisle to get my certificate. We both had planned for this day a long time ago but unfortunately she had been taken away from me just like that without the slightest warning. I smiled a bit remembering how she had jumped for joy when she found out that I had been accepted into one of the most prestigious university in Estonia and I was finally getting the college degree that we’ve always wanted. I remembered her engulfing me in a warm embrace and us dancing together in our small parlor. A bird singing right outside my window woke me from my reverie and when I looked up I realized that the sun was already up and I had to rush to get ready for the day. I was going to be late if I didn’t hurry and we were supposed to be seated before the arrival of our special guest speaker. He must really be important from the way they were all hushed up about it on campus. I rushed into the bathroom and had a quick shower washing my thick curly brown hair. I needed to look my best today for once and I was really putting in the effort. I heard a knock on my door just as I was leaving the shower with a towel wrapped around me and I rushed to the door knowing fully well who it was already. She came into my life like a guardian angel when I didn’t have anyone else to turn to then. We met in the campus cafeteria while I was trying to figure out what was the least pricey item on the menu and she grabbed it right out of my hands and ordered for the both of us. Of course I didn’t want to accept and she wouldn’t take no for an answer so we settled on me paying her back by me helping her with topics that were tough for her in school and from there a genuine friendship blossomed between us. She always had my back and loved me like a sister especially with her being an only child too for her parents. Even though they were well off she wasn’t one to flaunt it around and I loved her more for it helped me to stop being so self conscious around her all the time. As soon as I unlocked my door she pushed it open and came screaming into my room. At first I thought something was wrong but then I realized she was being her usual loud and overly excited self. It took a while but I finally got to quiet her down enough to ask her what she was doing in my place when she should be getting dressed for our graduation and she told me that she came for the both of us to get dressed. That was when I realized that she had two clothe bags in her hands with some other accessories in another bag. I thought I told you not to bother I shouted at her, she just shrugged her shoulders and wasn’t concerned in the least bit because she knew I always gave in eventually when it came to her. I heaved a sigh and just shook my head at her and she gave me a lopsided grin and then she pushed me into the one chair I had in my room and started working on my hair, removing the towel from my head she jumped and yelped when curls came bouncing out all over the place. I laughed a bit knowing fully well that it was going to be a lot of work taming it a bit, but the next second she was on the phone with someone yelling directions at them and instructing them on what to do. I tried explaining to her that it was just our graduation and not a wedding we were going for but she said that I had to look my best because I was the valedictorian of the school and I was going to be standing in front a lot of potential employers so I had to look my best. She said it with such finality in her voice that I knew I dare not argue with her. It didn’t take long for the person she called to find the place and they both started working on me. I stood in front the mirror and stared at the image I was seeing with mouth agape, people always told me I was beautiful but I always took it as a simple compliment. From the way my hair cascaded down past my shoulders in beautiful waves to the tight black dress that hugged me tightly around my hips outlining my small waist. Sharon had really out done herself this time around, I was a completely different person. The heels was so beautiful and yet very comfortable on my foot. I stood staring at myself fighting to hold back tears that attempted to spill over, she came and put her hands around me giving me a hug and threatening that I better not ruin the little makeup they did on me. I smiled a bit and watched her take turn to get ready. We were set and ready to leave in half an hour, Sharon already had a car waiting for us. Her parents were going to meet us there at the ceremony and then we would all go for dinner later on since I didn’t have any one to celebrate with me and they insisted I didn’t go back home alone. The ride to the main campus where we were to be seated for the short ceremony was quiet thankfully, I was grateful for that because I was able to do some reminiscing. When we reached, Sharon grabbed my hands in hers and gave them a little squeeze. I was happy that we get to share this day together and came closer for a tight hug, she laughed and pulled back with tears swirling in the green depths of her eyes. I smiled knowing I wasn’t the only one emotional today. She then opened the car door and shouted let’s get that degree finally!, I laughed and followed her out and we made our way to our seats were people were already gathering. Damon’s POV: I sat in my car staring at my phone screen and mumbling to myself, I really didn’t want to be here but I couldn’t just break my grandfather’s heart by breaking his tradition of always speaking at the university he most cherished graduation ceremony. Grandpa was too old now and this would have fallen to my dad had he still been alive, but now I was the next to step in-line. As much as I hated crowds, I couldn’t let that poor soul down because I loved him way too much. He was someone I had always looked up to from my teen since he was the only father figure I had in my life. And he did one hell of a good job in grooming me, I was ready to take over the empire he had created from the day I turned 18. I promised to never fail him because I didn’t want him to experience another heartbreak like the one he suffered when he lost his son and I feared he might never recover a second one. I heaved a sigh as I glanced at the time once more, it went the slowest when you needed it to go faster. What pissed me off more was the fact that I couldn’t login to any work at all today, grandpa had made sure of that since he said he wanted me to focus on the activity at hand for the day. I wasn’t just giving a speech today, but was expected to have dinner with the honor student. Why grandpa included that, I had no idea but I just had to go along with it since it’s what he wanted. He’s the only person I have a soft spot for in my heart, he was the only one that made me do things that no one ever dreamt of asking me to do. Yes that was how dearly I loved him. I sighed again checking the time for the umpteenth time, I planned to stay in my car until it was time for me to be called out for my speech. Yes I was richer than most my age and held more power than anyone else, but I didn’t let all that get into my head. Keeping people’s at arm’s length was my strong suit and I preferred it that way. I heard the ceremony start and started adjusting myself getting ready to leave the comfort of the car. I didn’t wait too long because I was promised that it was a short program, I got out of the car and laid against it keeping my eyes locked on the stage. I had a perfect view of everyone from where I was standing although they couldn’t see me, I liked it that way because not many people were expecting me. I looked up when I heard the valedictorian was about to be called, thinking I was going to see the usual nerdy looking boy walking up. What I didn’t expect to see was the most beautiful lady I have ever laid eyes on. I stood staring as she walked up towards the stage to get her certificate, even the graduation gown couldn’t hide her curves from me. The dress she wore underneath fitted her like a second skin. Damn her hair made me feel like burying my face in it and inhaling as I run my fingers through those thick waves. And her eyes, she had the most beautiful pair of eyes I had seen. They were hazel and glowed with pride. Yes I could tell that she was proud of her achievements even though she had a mix of emotions on her perfectly beautiful face. This was the first time I was feeling something other than irritation towards another human, a female at that. I tried pushing the feeling away but it kept rising to the surface making my heartbeat faster. I knew I had to put myself together before I was called up, no one dare see me in the state I was in. I walked up on stage as I heard my name being called and lots of gasps came from the crowd. I already knew that was going to happen, what I didn’t know was that a random girl could have that much effect on me. I tried my best to not look directly at her so I looked everywhere else but her row because I didn’t trust myself at this point. As I spoke, it looked like my eyes had a mind of their own as they went directly over the row next to hers and straight to her row. I saw the chills run down her spine as my eyes locked with hers.
