Sounds of crickets chirping resounded through the night. Silence had engulfed the entire court as everyone had either retired for the night or was busy with one thing or the other. The big mahogany grandfather clock in the grand hall was ticking loudly. Time passed very fast, but for Ariel, who was boarded up in her room, it seemed like every second took ages to pass. She sat on one of the few palatable chairs in her room, rocking back and forth. Turmoil and confusion could be seen clearly on her face as she stared blankly at the wall.
