Chapter 26

Vin's Pov I sneezed for the nth time. This is bad, I think this fever is going to kill me. I continue typing while struggling to breathe through my nose. It's really hard to breathe when you have a cold and fever. I rather have a hundred examinations than struggle with this. This is freaking hell. "Are you okay, Vin?" I help up my head. Andrei, one of my officemates, went to my cubicle. I'm not that good at communicating and dealing with new and unfamiliar people, but I am glad that Hendrix's employees are all nice and approachable. They helped me adjust and cope with the working process and stuff. More so when they find out that it's my first job. Hendrix is indeed a good superior. "Yeah, thank you for asking." I smiled at him. His face turned a bit red, and he withdrew from our eye contact. "I-Is that so...uh, did you already had your breakfast?" I was force to look back at him again and to stop on typing. I don't have that much to do, but I want to finish all of them so I can leave early for a rest. "Yeah..." I answered, a bit curious why he asked that. He probably saw the question in my face that's why he awkwardly laughed. "Y-Your quite pale so...I'm just worried." I smiled weakly at him. My head is really damn aching so bad. And him asking is not helping. "Thank you. I just have a headache, but I'm fine--" He interrupted me by saying, "You have a headache? That's not fine, Vin. " He really looks so worried. He went near me and touched my forehead. "See, you're hot. You should go home now and rest. I'll just inform Mr. Montemayor." I felt like my face had whitened more. The thought of going home is so tempting, but the image of Hendrix rushing on me without minding his employees just to carry me to the hospital is a disaster. I still not ready to let everyone know that I am his girlfriend. I don't want to have any special treatment from him and cost something bad on his name and image. I want to keep our relationship a secret for a while for these people. Of course I'm proud to be his girlfriend but...I want to earned something and be the deserving girlfriend on him. And though he agreed with me, I think he still likes to introduce me to them, so I have to make sure he won't do it. "D-Don't worry I'm really fine. I already drink some meds and I will later again." The contradiction in his face can be seen. He was about to say something more if only no one caught his attention. His rounded eyes glued behind me. "Is this how professional Hendrix's employees are?" My tongue stuck it's words when I heard that voice. Andrei widened his eyes while looking at my back. I turned and saw the unexpected appearance of Felix. Wearing a well-tailored suit and sunglasses, he managed to get everyone's attention and easily turn everyone's head toward him. What the heck is he doing here? It's almost a week since the last time I saw him, and I thought he stopped there and wouldn't disturb my life again. And frankly, it brings me peace. So having him here in front of me is so disappointing. He moved in, one who could take his under-exercised and over-indulged form and make him a figure of power, even though, in reality, he is just nothing but a green f*ck boy. "G-Good morning, Sir Felix---" Andrei words halted when Felix raised his hand to stop him. I heard gasps when he boyishly removed his sunglasses with his eyes straight at me. "Is this how employees should work? Touching and talking in working time?" He is loaded with sarcasm, and I don't know where he gets it. He looks ten times grumpier but is still trying to look cool with his clothes. He scanned me, and his brows furrowed more. I gritted my teeth. The bastard is trying to intimidate me. "I don't remember you. Are you a new employee?" He is damn acting. As if he really doesn't know me. I want to smack him with foul words if only we weren't around these people. He is adding to my headache. Damn him! I glared at him and furrowed my eyebrows, but then I saw some employees looking at me and so I jerked my head down to hide my annoyed expression. The corner of his mouth lifted a bit. "Y-Yes sir, I'm newly hired." I answered and acted like I was scared of him. Trying to equal his damn acting. He smirked soundly. He finds it amusing. "Of course, because I can't remember you." He answered. This bastard. "But why are you flirting with your seniors? Aren't you ashamed? And in working time? Seriously?" Senior? Flirting? What the hell is he talking about? "Uh, I think you're mistaking something, sir, I just---" Andrei. "I'm not asking you. Go back to your work." Felix snapped him off. Andrei's jaw moved. He glanced at me before he went back to his cubicle. See? I'm not the only one annoyed with this bastard. His attitude stinks. I'm about to ignore him and just get back to what I'm doing, but he spoke again. "Yah! I'm asking you. Why are you turning your back on me, huh?" I shut my eyes tightly. This childish. I don't know what he is up to, and whatever it is, he is not funny. I turned to face him again and gave him a little smile. A smile with pure bitterness. "I'm sorry, sir. But you told us to get back to our work." He licked his lips. "Not you, of course! I'm still talking to you." He roamed his eyes, automatically, the heads that were watching us turned their heads down and continued on with what they were doing. He then turned to me again. "Don't you know me, huh? I'm the brother of your boss." I winced at him, and he saw it. He widened his eyes on me to scare me, but he must do better than that. "But you're just his brother, sir. You aren't my real boss." I highlighted every word, and afterwards, some stiffling giggles comes after. Not because Hendrix isn't here, he can control everything. Not me. I smirked when I saw annoyance on him. And even with the distance, I can clearly see his reddened face. He wore his eyeglasses again before making his way out. "Good morning, sir!" I shouted sarcastically.
