She stood up but stumbled back slightly before going after him. She and her wolf wouldn't have been in this condition if her father hadn't forced her to drink wolfsbane.
He was scared that her wolf might shift and destroy everyone in the academy because her wolf wouldn't allow anyone to hit them, so to tame her wolf, she was forced to drink wolfsbane with her brother's life as bait.
Her father wanted her to look weaker so that everyone would believe she was lowborn, and when she thinks about today's test, it angers her more.

She tries to wade through the crowd to get to him, but people keep getting in her way.

They spat, pushing her aside, and she ignored them, trying to keep up with him. Then she realized he was actually trying to lose her in the crowd.
He was running away, he doesn't want to recognize her as his mate. Immense anger immediately spread throughout her body. She is already here as a replacement for her stepsister, and she, an alpha warrior, is living under the shadow of a lowborn. She has been mocked and ridiculed ever since she arrived, and now she has found her mate, but he's trying to run away.
She tightened her fist and immediately ran forward, following a shorter cut, and in no time she stopped right in front of him, coming face-to-face with her mate.
"You're trying to run away?" She asked, her voice deep.
"You!" He growls angrily, before she could say anything more, he grabbed her hands and dragged her out of the crowd, leading to a hallway before pushing her into an empty class.
"You were trying to run away from me?" Lyra questioned, and he walked towards the door inspecting if anyone followed them before moving back to her.
"Do you realize I'm your mate?"
"And that's what I don't want you to ever tell anyone about!" He pushed her against the wall, hands on each side caging her in between.
"You...you don't want anyone to know about our bond?" She asked, her voice trembling a bit.
This was her first-ever mate, and now she's expected to keep it a secret.
"This is heartbreaking!" Her wolf, Grey, said Lyra, and Lyra could feel the pain in her heart hitting her badly.
"Yes and I don't want you either!" He spat.
"He's going to reject us Lyra, he doesn't want us," Grey continued, and Lyra frowned before pushing him away.
"Is this mate bond a joke to you?"
"You don't really expect me to accept you as my mate, do you? I, Alpha Liam, can't be mated to anyone else but a pathetic lowborn. You're not even an omega, but nothing. Let's talk about your fresher test. You couldn't even show any skill, and you want me to accept this bond when the person involved is the weakest and lowest person in the school? I can't reduce my status by mating with you, so, yes, this bond is a joke" He spoke so coldly, staring at her, and Lyra felt her heart tearing to pieces.
So it's related to her being a lowborn? He doesn't want to mate or be with a lowborn? But she isn't one, and she can't tell him that? Because mates are of the goddess's wish, so if he can't accept this bond, then there's no need for her to say anything to him.
"You want me to keep this bond a secret and act like we aren't mates, right? Then reject me outright; reject me in the right way, not by you telling me to avoid and stay away from you when you know the bond is surely going to connect us in some way, so be a man and be that alpha that you ought to be and reject me right away" She spoke, her voice deadly as ever.
Alpha Liam stared at her blankly, not saying a word. Right now he's blaming the moon goddess for pairing him with no one else but a lowborn. That's going to be a deep obstacle for him. His father has always taught him to let nothing hinder and hold him back, but now mating with her will take him back.
They will use her against him and his pack. Her life will always be on the peak of death, and he will be forced to do anything just to save her. His pack and father also wouldn't allow him to mate with a lowborn because a powerful and fierce mate has already been chosen for him.
He had sworn to protect his pack and put them first, so mating with her will shake the well-being of his pack, and he can't allow that.
He stared deeply at her, wondering how she had the guts to stand here and question him. No girl has ever been able to look him in the eye with anger reflecting on them, so how come she's able to talk to him without shaking?Something about her seems off, her audacity and energy don't suit her as a lowborn. He sighed, wondering how to get her to leave him alone and stay away from her.
She's already a lowborn so rejecting her right away might take her life, even high ranks suffer a lot from rejections, not to mention a lowborn.
"You...."
"Reject me now, Alpha Liam!" She pressed further with a mind crossed and ready to accept the rejection.
He only squinted his eyes at the tiny figure standing in front of him. She's a freshman, and he's a graduating student, so first, this feels off, but secondly, the way she carries herself doesn't scream 18-year-old girl.He moved forward and leaned closer, dropping to her level as he stared deep at her silver-gray eyes.
He opened his mouth to say something, but then a sharp voice cut in.
"Alpha Liam? What's going on here...."
Lyra turned and saw Cersei at the doorway, and Liam immediately pushed himself away from her.
"Nothing!" He replied coldly, and Lyra tightened her fist.

Meanwhile, outside, still in the field, a calm and reserved male lecturer was walking down the stage when he suddenly felt hot. He turned around, and almost immediately the flame on the bowl escalated and started spreading by burning things surrounding it.
"What!! fire!!!" A female lecturer disappeared to scene to quench it down with her magic.
The other male lecturer stood in his position with an unreadable look before staring at the place that he saw both Lina and Liam disappear to.
