My final examination
“Baylee, aren't you going home?" “I'm waiting for my driver." We just rounded up our final examination today. I'm a highschool graduate. We sat for today's subject earlier than scheduled. Payton College was known for its vast and rigorous prep curriculum, It has produced more successful leaders across America than other high schools. I love the fact that it's both a day school and Boarding. “I have called him that I'm ready to go home; he will be here soon," I said. He turned from leaving the room, walking to the edge of the classroom where I was seated and I buried my head on the magazine before me. He held my left hand swinging it to and fro. "I have to stay with you till he arrives then.” "That's cool.” I adjusted on the seat and he sat beside me. We began to go through the magazine as he showed interest in the graphics. “This picture is beautiful and attractive," Hanzel said, and I concurred giving details of the things I liked about the picture. “But!” he said, I stopped flipping the pages and turned to look at him with no words leaving my mouth before continuing. “You are far more beautiful and the most attractive ever.” I lifted my eyes from the magazine again, Hanzel was looking at me boldly and I became nervous, not able to look him in the eyes. “What's that for?” I muttered, trying to find my feet. He hesitated and turned gently to face me. My heart sank into my stomach as I watched his expression answer the question that I asked him. I withdrew my hand from his, the words of my parents are already ringing in my head like a recreational bell. His eyes turned red, and the little smile earlier on his face banished as my finger slipped off his hand. “Please, I'm sorry Baylee, if I offend you forgive me.” "What exactly are you talking about?” "I admire you so much, you have been a good friend and soon I'm not gonna see your beautiful face again.” "Leaving school doesn't make us invisible, are you leaving town?” I asked with no care. "My mom said something about that, not quite sure about her plans towards the university he wants me to attend, but I guess she doesn't want me to attend the university of my choice.” "Oh! That's your mom by the way. My parents are the opposite of your mom. They allow me to make choices on most things about myself.” He looked worried about the future, and us not going to see each other, but that's weird for me to understand, why is he emotional and sees much out of nothing that we are leaving school. “Why is your cheek saggy? I guess I'm not the reason” I touched his jawline to both of his cheeks jokingly . I held his hands, “Confirm from your mom the university she wants you to attend and I'll tell my dad to enroll me in the same university.” He jumped on me and hugged me tightly. I really like him and want our friendship to continue, but my parents had warned me a thousand times ahead to beware of boys and their deceptions. Most of the time my feelings and my parents' words kept conflicting in my head. I love my parents and they love me, I haven't learned to rebel against their instructions. “Thank you Baylee. You see why I love you?” “Common! This is nothing compared to how kind you have been towards me." Hanzel comes to my seat every day during recreation, and most times he comes with edibles. His parents are not as rich as mine, and he was with his alone but he wouldn't stop surprising me with gifts. I wish I could do so to him too. My phone rang, my driver calling. “Ms Williams, I'm at the school garage." “I'll be with you shortly," I snapped. “You have to join me, let me drop you off, my driver is around." He held my hand walking through the corridor and I slipped mine off his with a hot smile on my face hiding how shy I was. We looked around the classrooms together as we made jest of the time we had when we were in each of them. We're at the middle of the premises when we turned back to look at our school again. It's indeed a gigantic boarding and day school with a track record of producing prominent men and women like Judge bush: one time president of the United States. I'm proud to be an alumni alongside someone like our former president. The school's inception is dated to the early 20th century, with its building unique and modernized. I dragged him by his hand heading to our car. He was happy and I was too. I love to hold him, I'm more comfortable holding his hand not him to hold mine. We jumped into the car and left the garage. We sat close to the windows flickering at the buildings and the street. This is our daily route, I'm going to miss the pleasure I get looking at the town when going and returning from school. Our car lined up in the traffic, while waiting for the light to turn green. We Left the windows where we had glued to as we drove off the garage to sit down. “I'm really gonna miss school, our classmates and my friends.” He broke the silence. I glanced at him, not feeling the same and didn't mutter a word. We kept quiet till we arrived at his street and he alighted. “Bye," he said. Bye, please close the door." I began to ponder on his words. I'm not gonna miss anybody that much, I wasn't attached to no one. I don't even have a close friend apart from him, I'm not emotionally attached to anybody. My driver had always arrived before the closing time. I barely have time to mingle. I got home tired, freshened up and slept off. I woke up in the evening and came down stairs to relax before my parents arrived, since they aren't back yet. My parents traveled to Dubai for a business trip. They are supposed to be at home today. My dad is into real estate management and had properties across the United States. I was coming out from the kitchen with a cup cake when the news headline on the television cut my attention. “THE DEMISE OF A BUSINESS MOGUL IN A FATAL ACCIDENT.” “Fatal accident?" I muttered pitifully, before I could get across to my seat, I saw my parents picture on the television, my heart skipped and the plate in my hands landed on the crystal marble tiles and I let out a shout. All the servants in the house rushed in at once. They didn't hesitate in case something happened to me, they don't know my parents are no more. Something more dangerous than what they were expecting just happened. I was on the floor crying profusely, not willing to listen to their plea or stop to tell them what the reason was until Mrs Roseline came to me. I have loved and respected her and couldn't keep her in suspense even when it hurts me the more I say it. “Mrs Rose, my parents are dead. They had an accident on their way back." I recounted the story to them and they broke down into tears, there was no one again to console each other. I was to travel with them except for my examination which was ongoing. Mrs Rose took me to my room and spent the rest of the day with me.
