Chapter 3

Next day Ava was in her office right in time. Today she wore a white office dress that ended above her knees and a red cardigan and red heels. She had put Zach's coffee on his desk and was waiting for him with a tablet with his schedule ready. At precisely 8:30 the door opened and the boss himself came in and his baffled expression when he saw her.

"Morning Mr. Lockhart how are you today?" She asked in a cheerful voice.

"Huh?" was the reply she got.

"I'm fine thank you for asking. Today you have an 9:00 inspection meeting in the conference room 304.Is there anything I can get you before? "

"No?" Zach replied but it came out as a question.

"your coffee sir" Ava said as she handed him the cup. Zach took the cup with no thank you and took a huge gulp only to spit it out.

"What the hell was that " Zach bellowed as he tried to get the foul taste from his mouth.

"Are you OK sir " ava asked with an innocent face.

"Go get me some f*****g water" he ordered.Ava hurriedly did as she was ordered and gave Zach the water.

"Let me just get rid of this coffee" she said then stumbled and threw the contents at Zach." Oops"

"What the ........"Zach shouted.

"I am so sorry sir " Ava said as she attempt to wipe the ruined suit.

"What's wrong with you just go get my other suit from the closet"

Ava did as she was told with a smug smile on her face. After handing him the suit she exited the office to give him privacy to change. But a few minutes later she heard her boss bellow her name and she smirked. Now he was really angry. She composed her self and entered his office looking panicked.

"Is everything alright Mr. Lockhart? "she asked a red faced Zach.

"My ...umm my trousers got torn when I bent over to tie my shoelaces. " Zach replied as his cheeks got redder. She had loosened the seam at the back so that it would tear easily if he bent over . A clever little trick khloe taught her.

"Can you go buy me something really fast I have a meeting to attend.? "

Ava was doing a mental happy dance as she exited the building going to a small clothing shop nearby. She came back and handed the shopping bag to Zach who was pacing in his boxers.

"This was all I could find in your size sir" The shop was mainly for gay and funky people.

"Ok then shall we head to the meeting?" she said as she walked out the door with Zach following behind.

The meeting was embarrassing for Zach because of the leather trousers Ava had bought.

When the meeting was finished Zach called Ava to his office.

"Why do I get the feeling that what happened today was intentional ?" he asked with his arms crossed trying to intimidate her.

"Because it was, that was just me punishing you for treating me like personal maid."

"what do you mean ? You are my personal assistant you are supposed to assist with my work"

"Correct but from that list which errand was related to work" she asked but received no answer. "I thought as much next time you do this it won't be a harmless pranks"

"Are you threatening me?" Zach asked leaning forward with his palms on the desk.

Ava leaned in too until their faces where close "No it's a promise" she replied. She straightened herself and gave him a polite smile. "Now shall we go for that lunch meeting with your mother."

"My mother ?"

"yes I compromised dinner with lunch" she said as they exited his office.

"Baby" an annoying high pitched voice called out. Both Zach and Ava turned around and Zach groaned.

Ava made it a necessity to know every employee who had contact with her boss and the one approaching them was her least favorite. Brooke Anderson was the definition of high school queen Barbie. She was gorgeous with long tan legs a body to die for but the personality of a witch. The worst part was she worked in the same company in the marketing department.

"I was looking everywhere for you" she continued then went and wrapped her arms around Zach's neck and smashed her lips to his.

Zach pushed her off and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand with his face showing disgust.

"What the hell do you want Brooke "

"Zachy don't be like that I know you don't want people to know about us yet. There's no one here, well her but she doesn't matter" she said as she snaked her arms around him again.

"Please let go of me I'm too busy to deal with your s**t right now"

"Hmm that's not what you said on Sunday. "Brooke said as she ran her hands over his chest.

"That was a drunken mistake I will never repeat "

"ha ha ha Zachy you are so funny. How about I wait for you in your office after your meeting. "

"Brooke get the f**k away from me and you are being inappropriate in front of my assistant " Zach replied a he tore her hands from him.

"She is nobody and she won't tell anyone about us."

"There is no us and please respect Ava" Zach said as he tried untangling himself from Brooke. Key word tried ,he looked to Ava with a pleading expression.

"Who the hell is Ava?"

" I am !Mr. Lockhart we are getting late we should get going" Ava interrupted. This earned her an angry glare from Brooke.

"Ok then see you soon baby" Brooke said as she tried to kiss Zach who was leaning away from her.

"Mr. Lockhart we are going to be late."Ava interjected.

Zach did not need to be told twice he walked as fast as he could to get away from the clingy woman.

"I hate desperate and clingy women. Please make sure to keep her away from me" he told Ava as he exited the elevator.

"Yes sir"

For lunch Ava decided to buy something in the cafeteria because she was lazy to walk far.Just as she finished paying for her food she was surrounded by Brooke and her three friends. It was high school mean girls again.

"Hi Ana right......."Brooke started.

"Actually its Ava but you call me Miss Benson" Ava interrupted.

"Those are really nice shoes they look almost like Jimmy Choo."Brooke said with a fake smile.

"They are Jimmy Choo ,now can you get to your point."Ava replied annoyance clear on her face.

"Ya whatever I want to see my boyfriend but his busy so I wanted to know when he is free so I can see him" Brooke said as she examined her nails.

"Sorry who is your boyfriend? "

"Zach of cause " Brooke replied like it was common knowledge.

"I can't help you there sorry"

"What do you mean you can't help me?"

Ava sighed. "Its against my job rules to share Mr. Lockhart's schedule with other people"

"I'm not other people I'm his girlfriend " Brooke screeched.

"Unless you are Mrs. Lockhart your title to Mr. Lockhart has no value to the company therefore I will not go against my policy for you."

"Oh I see what's going on you are interested in him that's why you want to keep us apart. But listen here you b***h Zachary Lockhart is mine stay away or I will destroy you." Brooke sneered in Ava's face .Other employees in the cafeteria were now paying attention to them.

"Please back up a bit OK.(1) I'm not interested in Mr. Lockhart you can have him for all I care as long as it does not affect my work.(2). You don't scare me because you are just a nobody in this company.(3) You got it right I'm a b***h so YOU stay out of my way or you won't know what hit you." Ava replied then took a step back smiled at Brooke and her posses." Nice chatting with you Miss Anderson. " then she exited the cafeteria .

"Hey wait up" a voice called out to Ava and she stopped and turned around. She was approached by a red headed girl and from her dressing and caked up face Ava knew she was another Brooke.

"I'm Emily Johnson I work at the reception "

"Ava Benson " ava replied with a polite smile.

"I know and what you did I back there with Brooke was great she acts like she owns the place. She thinks Zach is hers but he is with me and......."

"Really?" Ava said as she mentally rolled her eyes.

"Ya Zach said we should keep it a secret but I know I can trust you since you said you are not interested in him like all the girls here.Anyway Ava can you tell him to call me when you get to the office." She asked as she gave Ava a piece of paper with a phone number.

Ava raised an eyebrow but remained quiet , just took the paper and threw it in the bin as she went to the elevator for her office. After eating she decided to go to her boss's office to collect work.Ava knocked but received no answer ad assumed Zach was still at lunch so she let herself in and she got the shock of her life.
