His Ruthless Assistant (completed )

Chapter 2

Monday rolled in and Ava woke up refreshed and excited for her new day at work. She was supposed to be at the office at seven thirty and she had over an hour  to get ready.

After a shower and light make up of just mascara and lip gloss she dressed in a black blouse , a black knee length pencil skirt and a light purple blazer. She put on her silver wrist watch that was a present from her parents together with an ankle bracelet which she never took off.

In the kitchen she found Khloe  already sitting with a cup of coffee in hand. Khloe worked as a beautician/makeup artist and worked at a local spar which she loved.With her blonde hair and blue eyes she was a definite girly girl and it went well with her career choice.

“You are up early today, why?”Ava asked her friend when she entered and saw her already in the kitchen.

“I have an early appointment today for some model shoot.” Khloe replied looking glum. She was not a morning person. “You look smoking, are you sure you not trying to land a CEO husband today?”

“Ha ha I will have you know my boss is a fifty something year old …….” Ava replied going to fix a bowl of cereal for herself.

“Maybe you are into sugar daddies now " Khloe interrupted.

“……happily married man.” Ava continued.

“Darn it! What a bummer! " Khloe said with a fake pout.

“I have a boyfriend already "

“Who? Slimy Steven "Khloe replied with a look of disgust on her face.

“I don’t understand why you don’t like him he is a nice guy” Ava defended.

“I could write a two page essay as to why I don’t like him but I’m too lazy. There’s just something about him that I find off.”

“Okay you’ve said it a thousand times but I don’t see it.Anyway wish me luck on my first day don’t want to be late.”Ava said as she put on her purple pumps, grabbed her phone keys and purse and gave Khloe a hug.

The drive to her new workplace was only fifteen minutes which meant she an additional fifteen minutes to grab a quick breakfast.She believed in having a good breakfast so cereal alone would not do.

After her brief breakfast she was in the elevator going to the CEO's office on the 20th floor. She already knew where she was going because she was there for her interview.Ava knocked on the with the name CEO in italics and was replied with a faint come in.

“Morning Mr. Lockhart” she greeted the CEO.

“Aah Ava right in time impressive” Mr Lockhart replied with a smile standing up to shake her hand.

“Thank you sir but it would leave a bad image if I’m late on the first day.”

“That’s very true. Please sit.My wife and I have decided that you will be working with my son. I’m as good as retired and he is the boss now hope you don’t mind.”

“That’s not a problem at all sir”

“Stop being so formal Ava you are practically family. Anyway I should warn you my son is a bit difficult to work with he needs a strong willed person. Will you be able to handle him”

“I’ll do my best Geoffrey. "

“Very good let me show you to your new office and boss.”

Zachary groaned as he woke up from slumber, he tried moving but felt a body pressed to him. He had a pounding headache and his mouth felt like he ate cotton balls. He opened his eyes to see Brooke Anderson sleeping next to him, but with her make up all smudged up she looked like a freaking clown. He must have been really out of it if he hooked up with her because she was a walking STD who was obsessed with him.

He got up and went to get ready for a day at work. With the headache he had his mood was going to be vile. When he exited the closet already dressed he saw Brooke still fast asleep. He shook her awake but she only mumbled and went back to sleep so he went into the bathroom , came back with a cup of water and poured it on her.

“What the hell!” she woke up screaming.

“Get out.” Zach ordered.

“What!” she asked still dazed.

“Get out” he repeated.

“But baby…..” Brooke whined.

“Get the f**k out.” He growled dangerously low and that woke Brooke up and she gathered her clothes and scurried out.

Walking into the office building the employees cowered away from him and he was too pissed to care. He got into his office and noticed his Personal assistant was absent and that just made him more grim.

Just as he sat down his door opened.

"Don’t bother coming in you are fired” he said without looking up.

“How can you fire the owner of the company " a deep voice said.

“Father sorry I thought it was my PA” Zach replied.

“Well you fired every other PA from the agency and they now refused to deal with us.” Geoffrey scolded.

“I’m sorry dad but I can’t work with incompetent people. " Zach said.

“That’s why I took it to myself to find some one competent this time around.I just hope you give her a chance” Geoffrey said.

“Her? Did you hire one of your w****s to work for me?” Zach sneered.

“I will ignore those disrespectful words. Now if you value getting that post when I retire you will treat her with proper respect.”

“Really father are you seriously using the company to protect her?”

Geoffrey just narrowed his eyes at his son before calling out to the door."Ava you can come in now”

The door opened at Zach stared at the woman who entered.

“YOU!” Ava and Zach said at the same time when recognition set in.

Geoffrey looked between his son and Ava."You know each other?”

Ava quickly composed her self and turned to her boss."Yes we had a quite interesting meeting ."

Zach scoffed but remained quiet glaring at the woman. Now really taking her in she was gorgeous with her brown hair and bright green eyes. And the suit she was wearing especially the skirt showed her curves but she looked like she would be a prude.

“Well that’s good I will leave you to it then. Ava welcome to Lockhart enterprises " Geoffrey said with a smile as he walked to the door and opened it.

“Thank you Geoffrey.”Ava replied returning the smile.

When Geoffrey left Zach continued to glare at Ava with obvious distaste.

" On first name basis huh?” he sneered.

“Today you have a presentation with the board on the new location at two fifteen in room 301.Global designers have sent the new design they proposed you have to go through them before the meeting tomorrow .Is there anything else Mr. Lockhart.” Ava said dismissing his snide comment. 

Zach was speechless this slip of a woman ignored his question and he was boiling. And the worst part he couldn’t fire her sorry a*s.

“If that’s all I will be in my office "she said then turned on her heel and exited his office to her own leaving a fuming boss behind.

Zach tried drowning himself in work but his mind kept wandering to that woman in the next room. He could hear her moving around the office and he found it hard to concentrate.

When lunch came he heard her exit her office and come knock on his door.

“Come in”

“Mr. Lockhart I’m going out for lunch do you want me to get you anything. " she said The morning had gone by quietly for Ava she familiarized herself with her new office and started on filing the mess the previous assistant left. She decided to take her lunch break and not wanting to go to the cafeteria she opted for a nearby restaurant.

“Yes wait for me we are going together we have things to discuss” Zach said as he stood up and headed out the door with Ava following.He got into his private elevator and Ava went to the one for employees. He was disappointed he was looking forward to chasing her out of his elevator had she got in with him.

When he got to the ground floor he found Ava already waiting for him by the door. He walked past her bumping her shoulder intentionally. Zach heard her huff obviously annoyed but remained quiet and followed him.

They got to the restaurant and Zach went straight to a table at the back. The restaurant was small and very cozy with most of the tables occupied.

“I want you to quit” Zach said as soon as they both sat down.

“Now why would I do that?” Ava asked straight faced.

“Because I will not have one of my father’s w****s working for me. I only employ people for their qualifications not the favors they offer the boss. I will not put my mother through the heart break of employing my fathers s**t”

Ava just stood up abruptly and glared at the sorry excuse of a man in front of her. When Zach stood up too he was met with a punch to the face. He held his jaw with a shocked look on his face.

Ava turned around and stomped out of restaurant but thought better of it ,came back and stopped right in Zach’s face with the coldest glare she could muster. With her anger beyond redemption she kneed him in his family jewels opened her purse and slammed a file on the table.

“By the way you piece of s**t I was hired by your mother " she said then turned to exit the door and this time she didn’t come back leaving him doubled over in pain.

Zach was left speechless, humiliated and in excruciating pain. People were whispering and some recorded the interaction its not everyday  they saw the billionaire in that situation. And to make it worse Jake walked in and saw him bent down still groaning in pain.

“Hey man I just saw that café lady storm out of the door and……. What happened to you?” Jake asked.

“That stupid b***h kneed me in the nuts and it hurts like hell. Help me sit. And she got one damn right hook.” Zach replied groaning as he sat back at the table.

“Did you bump her again or something ?“ Jake asked as he sat down opposite his friend.

“No worse she is my new PA”

“What!!!”

“Ya I thought my father hired her but it turns out it was mom who did”

“This is epic but what did you do to rile her up like that? Wait let me guess you thought your dad hired her so you thought she’s……?”

“Yes I thought it was Miranda all over again” Zach finished for him.

“Well I bet she won’t be coming back to work then. You are PA less again”

“Well good riddance I was told not to fire her so since she quit on her own its not my problem”

“Anyway I have a meeting here very soon are you going to stay and eat?”

“Nah I will order take away and eat at the office without a PA it will be a bit hectic so I’ve got to go.” He replied as he picked the file Ava had left.

“Ok man see you at the club Friday and dont forget to put ice one that. "

“Sure, whatever” Zach said as he left and walked back to the office. He was happy that he got rid of that darn PA.He opened the file and read as he walked. To say it was impressive was an understatement. She had studied at Harvard and she was top of her class. She had worked for the Castillo company. Just wow.

When he got to his office he was still reading not paying attention and he jumped at the sound of a throat being cleared. He looked up and was surprised to see the she-devil PA standing with an expressionless face and professional posture.

“What are you still doing here? Did you not quit?” he asked dumbfounded.

“No.You are due for a meeting in ten minutes in room 301. "she said in a monotonous voice. Then she walked to the door and opened it. " Shall we sir?. Don’t worry I already have the files on the presentation with me!”

Zachary Lockhart was at a loss he just stalked out of his office and Ava followed him with a smirk on her face.

The meeting for Zach was hell he was still fuming inside from the  encounter with Ava while she acted like all was well. He could not concentrate fully and kept stealing glances towards her. Worse part he could not find fault in anything she did her only crime was looking darn sexy. The other males in the room kept ogling her and it unsettled him although he did not know why.

After the meeting he came to the conclusion that he could make her quit. With an evil smirk he knew exactly how to make her desperate to quit on her own. Pressing the intercom to her office he asked her to come to his office.

“You called sir?" she asked. Her perfect professional posture irked Zach. She was like those frigid old principal and he was a delinquent student that she was set to make hell for.

“I want you to run those errands for me and correct these files I want them today before you leave”

“Right away sir” she said as she left for her office.

“Welcome to hell” Zach said under his breath and then chuckled.

Ava looked at the list and let out some colorful words.

“go to my house and collect my suits and drop them off at the dry cleaners “

“Fire my maid and hire a new one”

“Call Miranda Valentine and tell her to stop calling and coming to my house”

“Call my mother and tell her I can’t come to dinner”

“Call and order me a meal and their best wine will collect at nine thirty”

“Also when you go to collect my suits check if my house is clean if not make sure it is”

“That b****y evil filthy sexist pig. He is so going to get it”Ava muttered to herself as she got to work.

Ava sat at her desk typing even though it was  way past her time to go home Good thing she was fast and efficient it took her less time. So with a smug smile she got up and went to the i***t she called boss.

The nerve of that imbecile to accuse her of something so despicable. Never in her life had she been so angry and insulted it brought out a violent anger she didn’t know she possessed. She knew what he was trying to do and he would be damned if he let him get his way. She made up her mind she was now more than determined to stay whether he liked it or not.

“Mr. Lockhart I have finished.” She watched with inside glee at his dumbfounded expression.

“Are you sure?” he asked clearly not believe her.

“Yes sir you can check while I wait "

“No its fine”

“If that’s all goodnight sir” she said as she left the office with a smile on her face.
