The Vision Pool
Silvery mists swirled in the pre dawn forest, muffling her bare footsteps on the mossy covered ground. Even the usual song of the birds were silent, leaving the atmosphere somehow heavy.
Dalhannah was calm as she followed the fated path, winding through the trees who had stood witness for every elf since the dawning of time.
A soft blue glow rose through the mist and she felt the moonstone on her brow grow cooler, guiding her and pulling her onward.
The elven girl had waited over century for this day, far longer than most, when the Goddess of Light would summon her to the sacred pools, to receive her blessing and take her place among the council.
Step by step, she walked down into the glade, the trees gracefully making way for her.
Light crystals hung on silver threads from the low, leafy, branches; emitting a soft glow, which the myriad of rock pools reflected back into the gently rippling fog. Her Diadem pulsed with the same bluish light and she allowed it to guide her to the pool of her ancestors.
She knelt on the mossy ground and drew her long silvery hair back over one slender shoulder, her heart filling with peace and joy in the sacred place of the Goddess, as she peered into the still, deep waters...
