in the beginning
A long time ago, longer than can be counted, in a place far away, a mortal woman gave birth to a baby girl, whom they named Emmalein.
Emma was a beautiful girl, hair as light as honey, lips as red as roses, eyes as dark as night and cinnamon skin to match all her features. Over the years she had grown graceful and beautiful, possessed a great intellect and was kind and gentle to every person and creature.
She lived with her two older brothers and her parents, humble farmers in the old world, where the city of London is located today.
Despite all possibilities, beliefs and superstitions, Emma was the cradle of anguish and terror on the part of her people. The girl grew faster than bamboo, the days passed like years by her side, the minutes seemed eternal and the dawn took longer and longer to arrive.
Her parents were too worried, so much so that despite the warnings they embarked on a journey to the end of the world, to visit Efra, an ancient witch, exiled from the mortal lands. She predicted that when the girl turned 10 years old, a great battle would take place between the worlds; gods, demons, hunters, humans; all fighting to take possession of the only thing that could destroy the universe... her.
The day came, the much feared and hated March 3rd; the sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon, when a black nine covered the mortal earth, a dozen lights flickered in the sky, lightning flashed, striking down everything in its path, the forests burned, the seas shook with menace and the earth trembled and cracked. After what seemed like an eternity, the world was shaken by a great explosion, the column of smoke began to dissipate and from within it emerged a creature with crystal skin, a long tail with an arrow at its tip, a human body and huge horns that resembled its elongated fangs and claws.
Through the crowd and the flames consuming the trees Emma was running hand in hand with her mother, but her steps were halted when a huge creature with a grim and terrifying appearance stopped them.
- Give me the girl! -the creature shouted with its putrid breath, getting closer and closer to Emma, but its head soon rolled back thanks to her father who, with the help of an axe, decapitated the monster.
And although luck seemed to be on the side of the family, everything ended when one of Orpheus' henchmen stuck its long pincers into the back of Emma's parents.
The blood did not take long to leave the body of the victims; Emma was crying disconsolately next to her parents while she felt how the heat of the fire consumed her surroundings, and in the blink of an eye the perpetrator of the crime knelt down next to her, wiped a tear with his claw and lifted her carefully from the brittle earth.
-Everything you see around you, is only the beginning of an era of conquest, and with your help we will be the masters of the universe.
