JANE
"Luke, I-" I trail on biting my lip wanting to lean forward and touch him. Making up my mind I stand on my tippy toes pulling the back of his neck closer to me and let my soft lips meet his in a slight touch, teasing him slowly.
He reciprocate immediately gripping my small waist closer, bringing me closer to him. My legs weaken at the sensation and if it wasn't for him holding me, I would've fallen down. A slight moan escapes my lip as he deepens the kiss, his tongue sweeps through asking for entrance, I grant him easily. My hands roam around his broad shoulders to his hard chest. I don't want this moment to end, I want to be here with him forever, the effect he has on me is indescribable, I want him so bad, I want him in so many ways. His hands glide down from my waist to my ass as he squeezes it making me squirm.
I make a sound at the back of my throat as I run my fingers through his hair and then cup his face, I pull back and catch my breath. We both pant out as we catch our breaths.
"I think we should get going, it's getting late," I say pulling away.
"Jane, wait," He stammers pulling me back and tightening his grip. "Why are you avoiding me?"
"I'm not avoiding you, Luke."
"You are, you've been telling me off. Is it because of what happened Saturday night?" He asks.
"No, Saturday night was a mistake and so was right now. Let's go."
"Janet! We're not kids," he says and I hate to admit but he's right, I'm acting like a little girl but I barely know this guy and he's known to be the devil of our school. I don't want to be heartbroken.
"I know we're not kids..."
"Let's start over, take it one step at a time and see where it goes," he cuts me shorts.
That makes sense, we can take it slow and see where it takes us.
"Fine, on one condition."
"Okay."
"I just met you a few days back and I can't do relationships on my first month at a new school. We start off as friends and nobody must know about this. We remain anonymous at school."
Anonymous? Really?
I don't even know what I just said, we just kissed and we almost had s*x Saturday night at his father's club, well that's more like s*x and now I want to play the friend zone card. Come on, Jane.
"I don't think we can be friends but if it makes you happy, I'll try my best," he tells me.
"Alright, then it's official, we're..." I pull away from his grip. "we're friends," I say and he smirks.
"Are you sure we're friends?" He asks with a mischievous and sexy smirk on his face.
"Absolutely, 100%."
"Alright, buddy, let's get you home." He says.
The drive home is cool, great actually as I'm listening to Luke's jokes and some of those jokes, I'm sure he made them up but not that I care, I like this side of him. Not the player side, the Greek God side everyone knows, I like him better, he seems more like himself and I couldn't ask for more.
"That's me," I say pointing at the double storey house two blocks from where we are now.
"Alright, we've reached your cave. I won't get lost when I come back next time," he says.
"You won't be coming back."
"Why? Aren't we friends?"
"Yes but my mom doesn't know you and you're a guy, I don't want to be in trouble."
"She'll like me, relax. I'll work on my charms," he says wetting his lip.
"Only Erika is allowed to my house not you."
"So unfair."
"Whatever. Thanks for the ride."
"Anytime, sugarplum."
Sugarplum!
He's called me sugarplum twice now.
"Thanks for the ride." I unbuckle my safe belt and step out of the car.
"Aren't you going to invite me in?" He asks.
Is he serious right now? I pursue my lips like I'm thinking about it then say, "Nope, not today, not tomorrow and definitely not ever."
"That's cold."
"Bye Luke," I say walking away.
"What about my kiss?"
"Go home, Mr Williams!" I call out not looking back. I unlock my door, I hear the engine pulling away. I close the door behind me and lean on it smiling from ear to ear, more like blushing, biting my bottom lip.
"Bye, Luke Williams!" I blush even more at the sound of his name.
I pull myself together and head upstairs and change then start with my homework.
I'm almost finished with supper when my mom comes in with Roger laughing their lungs out. Why am I not surprised? Ever since Roger came into our lives, she doesn't give me attention anymore and that hurts. I understand she gets on my nerve sometimes and her psycho side is irritating and tiring but hello, she's still my mom and I need her too.
"Jane! I'm home!" She calls out from the living room. At least she acknowledged me today.
"I'm in the kitchen, mom."
She comes with Roger holding hands. I didn't like Roger first but now I do, he's cool and funny and he makes my mom happy, I love seeing my mom happy. She deserves to be happy.
"Hey Jane!" Roger greets me and I just smile nodding.
"What are you making? It smells divine in here?" He remarks.
"You'll just have to wait." I tell him then turn to my mom. "How was your day mom?"
"Uh... You know, it was just like any other day, saving lives every now and then but my man here just made it the best," she explains.
I wonder what Roger did.
"Oh! That's good I guess, I'm happy you enjo... Wait!" I notice something shiny on her finger. No ways! A ring? Are they getting married? "Is that a...? Are you...?" I stutter not know what to say. That's a ring, an engagement ring. I'm eighteen but I'm not stupid, I know an engagement ring when I see one and that's just it. I stand there stuck, my eyes wide open, my mouth wide open, I'm sure I can swallow anyone at this point. When did they get engaged? Why wasn't I told? I didn't think their relationship was that serious.
"Well?" My mom cooes.
"What's on your finger?"
Really Janet? That's the best you can come up with?
I scold myself, for asking such a stupid question. That is a ring, what else can it be? I'm so lame.
"Roger proposed, sweety, I'm getting married," she says excitedly almost jumping up and down.
"Oh?"
"Oh?" She frowns. "Jane, I'm getting married and all you can say is oh?"
I snap out of it quickly, I must've hurt her.
"Of course, congratulations, mom, I'm happy for you." I say going to her side and hug her.
"Thank you, baby girl," she says looking at her finger. "Isn't it gorgeous?" She remarks.
"Yes, it is, I love it. You deserve to be happy, mom, I'm happy for you."
"Right?"
"So when's the big day?"
"We decided to go to court then throw a little party after," Roger says. "We don't want to make a fuss," he continues.
"But before that, we're going to have dinner with Roger and his sons Friday, we want to spend time together as a family before the wedding." Mom explains.
"Say no more, I have no plans on Friday anyway so I'm game," I tell them.
"Great. My boys will love you especially Adrian," says Roger kissing mom's cheek. "I love you," he adds causing my mom to blush like a love struck teenager.
"Okay, well let me finish then we can all dig in and talk about the big day."
They leave the kitchen and head to the dining room. I like Roger and I love my mom but honestly I don't know how I feel about this sudden wedding. I don't know if I'm ready to have a step dad. My own father is still alive and I love him, I'm the apple of his eye. I don't think I'm ready to refer to another man as my father yet mine is still alive and well. But my mom is happy with this new man of hers.
Ugh! This is so confusing. I'm sure Roger's sons won't like us and definitely won't accept us. Not to mention the part where we'll have to move in a new home and be a big happy family. I'm not ready for this, I'm still adjusting to this new house, now I'll have to move out and stay at my new home.
Damn! This is so bad.
