The Alpha of the Ocean Tide Pack

1050 Words
The next morning, Astera woke up before sunrise. She had barely slept. The discovery of her mother's room continued to replay in her mind. The old inventions. The hidden documents. The message about her sealed wolf. Every answer she found created ten more questions. But she could not allow herself to get distracted. She had come to the Ocean Tide Pack for a reason. She needed to awaken her wolf. She needed to understand what was happening inside her. And for that, she needed the Ancient Water. The only path toward it was through the Moon Challenge. The legendary competition held once every year between the four great packs. A competition where the strongest warriors, heirs, and gifted wolves competed to prove their abilities. Astera knew one thing. If she wanted access to the secrets of the Moon Goddess... She had to participate. --- After preparing herself, Astera left the guest room and followed Lyra through the Crystal Heart Palace. Unlike the previous night, the palace was alive. Pack members moved through the halls. Warriors trained in the open courtyards. Healers carried supplies toward the medical chambers. Inventors worked alongside magic users, creating new devices. The Ocean Tide Pack was different from what Astera expected. They were not only warriors. They were builders. Scientists. Protectors. A perfect combination of tradition and progress. As she walked, Astera noticed many people looking at her curiously. She lowered her gaze. She knew she stood out. A stranger. A girl hiding her identity. Someone carrying secrets no one understood. --- Lyra finally stopped before a large wooden door decorated with the symbol of the Ocean Tide Pack. "The Alpha is waiting." Astera became alert. "The Alpha?" Lyra nodded. "Yes." "He asked to meet you personally." Astera's expression changed slightly. She had not expected this. "Why?" Lyra smiled faintly. "Because my Alpha notices things others miss." The door opened. --- Inside the chamber stood the leader of the Ocean Tide Pack. Alpha [Uncle's Name]. Unlike the aggressive leaders Astera had seen before, he carried a calm but powerful presence. His silver-blue hair reflected the ocean light entering through the windows. His eyes were deep blue, like the endless sea. But what caught Astera's attention was not his appearance. It was the feeling around him. Control. Wisdom. Experience. This was someone who had protected his pack for many years. The Alpha turned toward her. "So..." "The mysterious girl who arrived with a strange little creature has finally come to see me." Astera remained cautious. "I apologize for entering your territory without explaining everything." The Alpha studied her. "You don't need to apologize." "You came here searching for something." Astera stayed silent. The Alpha smiled slightly. "Everyone who enters the Ocean Tide Pack carries a reason." "Some come looking for power." "Some come looking for answers." "And some come looking for a place where they belong." His eyes narrowed slightly. "Which one are you?" Astera looked directly at him. "Answers." --- The Alpha remained quiet. He could see the determination in her eyes. "Then tell me." "What answers are you searching for?" Astera hesitated. She could not reveal everything. Not yet. "I want to participate in the Moon Challenge." The room became silent. Lyra looked surprised. Even the Alpha's expression changed slightly. "The Moon Challenge?" Astera nodded. "Yes." The Alpha leaned back. "You understand what you are asking?" "It is not a simple competition." "The strongest warriors from all four packs participate." "The Inferno Pack." "The Stormfang Pack." "The Earthclaw Pack." "The Ocean Tide Pack." "Many spend their entire lives preparing for it." Astera remained calm. "I know." The Alpha looked at her carefully. "Do you?" --- His expression became serious. "To participate, a wolf must have an awakened wolf spirit." "The Moon Challenge is not only about physical strength." "The connection between a wolf and its spirit is tested." "You..." He paused. "You do not have an awakened wolf." The words were not cruel. They were simply the truth. Astera felt the familiar pain she had carried for years. The same words. The same judgment. But this time... She did not lower her head. "I know." The Alpha looked surprised. "Then why do you want to enter?" Astera took a breath. "Because I believe there is a reason my wolf has not awakened." "And I need to find out what that reason is." The Alpha studied her. "You think you can compete without a wolf?" Astera looked at the ocean outside the window. "I have survived things no one thought possible." "I escaped the Forbidden Volcano." Silence filled the room. The Alpha's eyes sharpened. "You survived the volcano?" Astera realized she had revealed more than intended. But she continued. "I survived." "And if I survived that..." "I can survive a competition." --- The Alpha walked toward the window. For several moments, he said nothing. Then he spoke. "Many people believe power comes before courage." "They are wrong." "Sometimes courage is what awakens power." He turned back toward her. "But the Moon Challenge is dangerous." "You could be exposed." "Your enemies could find you." Astera's expression hardened. "They already tried to destroy me once." "I will not spend my life hiding." The Alpha looked at her for a long moment. Then he smiled slightly. "Your eyes..." "They remind me of someone." Astera's heart stopped for a moment. "My mother?" The Alpha became silent. A silence that answered more than words. But he did not explain. Not yet. --- Finally, the Alpha nodded. "I will allow you to participate." Astera looked surprised. "Really?" "But understand this." "You will not receive special treatment." "You will compete like everyone else." "You will face warriors who have trained their entire lives." Astera nodded. "That is exactly what I want." The Alpha smiled. "Then prepare yourself." "The Moon Challenge begins soon." --- As Astera left the Alpha's chamber, her heart felt heavier and lighter at the same time. She had entered the Ocean Tide Pack searching for her past. Instead, she had found a new path toward her future. The Moon Challenge. The Ancient Water. Her sealed wolf. Everything was getting closer. But deep inside... She knew something else was waiting. Something connected to her mother. Something connected to the Moon Goddess. And something that would change the entire Wolf Realm forever.
