Chapter One: The Betrayal
Lyra’s P.O.V.
I woke up to Marion’s warm kisses on my back. I smiled and turned to face him. Our lips met again, and if I hadn’t controlled myself, it might have led to another heated lovemaking session. Marion is my Alpha—the newly appointed leader of our Silverfang pack. And I was the chosen Luna, selected by our ancestors and the rightful one to stand beside the Alpha—beside Marion.
We’ve been together for almost two years, and I can say that we both love each other. Although we haven’t bonded yet, it was never an issue for me. What mattered more was for Marion to achieve his dream of becoming our pack’s leader, and I fully supported him. I protected our pack members together by his side through every war and battle.
“Just one more time, Lyr,” Marion whispered to me. His hands wandered boldly over my body, exploring every inch.
I moaned when I felt his touch reach the most sensitive part of my body. A surge of heat coursed through me, and I surrendered to his passion again.
I straddled him, our eyes locking, and a spark flashed in his gaze as I began to move my hips. One of my hands slid down, never breaking eye contact with him. A smirk formed on my lips when I grasped his throbbing arousal, fully ready for what I was about to do.
I held it in my hand, giving it a few strokes, leaving his mouth hanging open. A loud groan escaped his lips. He grabbed my waist, unable to contain his desire any longer. He was burning with need, his eyes filled with lust and hunger as he looked at me.
When he could no longer hold back, he thrust into me, finally uniting our bodies. We both cried out at the intoxicating pleasure that consumed us. His grip on my waist tightened, and he began to move first. My lips parted, releasing moans as I matched his rhythm.
“Damn, you’re still so tight even after how many times we’ve done this,” Marion groaned between heavy breaths and intense thrusts.
I didn’t reply, simply moving in sync with him, driving him further into madness. He suddenly changed our position. Instantly, I was lying face down on the bed while he was behind me. He lifted my hips and grabbed my hair.
A shiver ran down my spine when he kissed the nape of my neck, licking it repeatedly as if he were ready to mark me. Deep inside, a sudden wave of panic hit me. A part of me wanted to resist, to stop him. Fear crept into my heart, yet I was secretly relieved when he didn’t do it. I mean, I love him, and I am sure I’ll stay with him for the rest of my life, but at that moment, I don’t know why I suddenly felt panicked.
He withdrew his lips from my nape and kissed me deeply as he thrust into me with intense force. Soon, the entire room was filled with our moans and cries of pleasure until we both collapsed on the bed, gasping for air as we reached our climax together.
It was good that the room was enchanted with special magic—no matter how loud we were, no one of our kind could hear us.
Like werewolves, our senses were heightened. We could hear conversations within a mile’s radius of our location. However, only a few of our kind can heal wounds rapidly, possess senses three times sharper than usual, and wield unique abilities beyond those of ordinary wolves. Marion and I were among them.
Marion’s ability was called Bloodfang Dominion—a powerful yet sinister ability that granted him control over the wolves under his command. By binding them to a blood oath, Marion could demand their unwavering obedience. However, this link weakened when a pack member doubted his leadership, making his control unstable over time. His abilities included Combat Enhancement, Crimson Roar, and Bloodfang Berserk, which caused his body to overheat with raw aggression, doubling his strength and speed for a short period. However, after using it, he suffered from extreme fatigue, leaving him vulnerable. This power was what qualified him to be chosen as our pack’s leader.

I woke up again to the sound of commotion outside.
When I opened my eyes, I realized that Marion was no longer beside me. I shook my head and smiled at myself. Little did I know that outside, members of our kind were waiting to capture and present me before the very man I had been intimate with just moments ago.
After putting on my dress, I decided to step outside but froze at the door when I overheard the conversation happening beyond it. Although the room was wrapped in magic, it wasn’t enough to block my ability to hear everything around me. That’s one part of my unique ability as the chosen one.
I quickly opened the door, furrowing my brows as I faced my packmates.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, my eyes sharp and my senses instantly on high alert when I noticed some had already shifted into their werewolf forms.
“Lyra Veythorne, you are under arrest for conspiring with our enemies and plotting to attack the entire pack. You must come with us now to face our leader and receive your rightful punishment,” Dracob declared. His face remained expressionless, avoiding my eyes as he commanded me to follow. Dracob was, I can say, my friend and closest to me besides Marion, but right now, he’s acting weird, as if he no longer knows me, and I’m a total stranger in front of him.
“What?” I gasped in shock. “What are you talking about, Cob? I would never do such a thing!”
But Dracob acted as if he hadn’t heard me. He signalled the others to step forward and restrain me with silver shackles. As soon as I instinctively stepped back, they all bared their fangs, ready to attack me. I raised my hands in the air, showing I wouldn’t resist.
“Come with us quietly, and do not attempt to fight back,” Dracob ordered again.
Confused and shaken, I complied, allowing them to lock my body in silver shackles. They placed them around my neck, wrists, and ankles. As much as I wanted to react, I swallowed my pride and silently followed them.
When we arrived at the Bloodstone Tribunal, the place where all criminals and captured enemies were punished, I frowned in confusion. I saw Marion seated seriously on his throne, staring straight at me.
His eyes were dark and devoid of warmth. All I could see in them was anger and disgust towards me. Again, I am left confused.
I became even more confused, unable to comprehend what was happening. Was I dreaming?
Dracob shoved me forcefully in front of Marion’s throne. Because of his strength and my boundness, I lost my balance and fell to the ground. I glanced around and saw my parents and relatives, their faces filled with disbelief and tears streaming down their cheeks.
“M-Marion, what is the meaning of this?” I asked in confusion.
Marion didn’t answer immediately. He just kept staring at me. A moment later, his form shifted, and he let out a powerful growl of rage. The ordinary wolves among us fell to their knees, and some even fainted, unable to withstand the force of his howl—but it had no effect on me.
“I never thought you could betray your kind, Lyra.” His voice was laced with fury. “I trusted you. I loved you. How could you betray us?”
My lips parted in shock, and I could not speak for a moment, stunned by his accusation.
“You know I would never do that!” I shouted, attempting to stand, but I failed and remained kneeling.
“Stop denying it, Lyra! You can’t deceive us anymore!” Marion roared at me. “We captured an enemy lurking around our fortress, and he confessed that you were their accomplice! That he was here to gather information from you!”
After saying that, Marion signalled one of our kind, who immediately left and returned moments later, dragging along a bloodied and weakened figure.
When the creature caught sight of me, he broke into sobs.
“Forgive me… I wasn’t careful enough. They caught me and tortured me until I confessed. I don’t want to die, and they promised to keep me alive and only captured for a year,” he cried.
My brows furrowed even deeper. Around me, I heard the murmurs of our pack, whispering in disbelief as they witnessed the captive’s confession. I shook my head repeatedly, then turned to Marion, desperation rising in my chest.
“T-That’s not true! I don’t even know that creature, and I would never do what you’re accusing me of!” I shouted, panic creeping into my voice as tears threatened to spill from my eyes. “Marion, you know me! I would never betray our kind!”
I struggled to process what was happening. Someone was clearly trying to bring me down—to destroy my relationship with Marion. But no matter how hard I searched my mind, I couldn’t think of anyone who would do this. The pack loved me, and they always respected me because I was the chosen Luna, the rightful mate of the Alpha who led us.
I froze when Marion shook his head.
“I won’t let you deceive me anymore, Lyra.” His voice was cold and final. “I cannot love a traitor. And as the leader of this pack, I must make a decision.”
“W-What do you mean? How could you not believe me?” I asked, my voice trembling with confusion and fear.
Marion’s gaze remained cold and unyielding as he spoke his following words.
“By the power vested in me, I, Marion Dravenholt, sentence you to death and brand you as a traitor to this pack. You will be executed in front of everyone—so that it will serve as a lesson to all that betrayal against the pack is punishable by death.”
“No!” I screamed, my voice echoing through the tribunal.
