Chapter 1 Let Me Go—Please!
*
"Stop! Let me go—please!"
Tossed onto a bed strewn with rose petals, Alicia crumpled like a ragdoll. Petals scattered as she desperately clutched her flimsy nightgown, but the man looming over her was beyond reason—his eyes burning crimson with primal hunger.
Carlos's gaze darkened with raw desire. His throat moved as he lunged.
"Carlos, stop! I belong to your brother!"
His scorching kisses seared her neck, drawing terrified tears. "Let me go!"
How did it come to this?
Rough hands pinned her wrists as fabric tore. The sting of liquor flooded her mouth when his lips crushed hers, muffling her struggles. Tonight was supposed to be Elvis's—her gentle sweetheart's—arms around her. She'd prepared champagne and scented candles to celebrate their marriage license tomorrow. Yet instead of her beloved, Carlos, reeking of whiskey, had barged in like a rabid beast!
"Mmph—!"
Disgust and panic coiled in her chest, but his relentless assault stole her voice. His weight pressed down like an avalanche, danger radiating from every breath. When his fingers hooked into her last shred of modesty, she bit down hard—
*Smack!*
The slap cracked across Carlos's chiseled face. "Carlos, have you lost your mind? I'm your brother's fiancée!" Chest heaving, she jabbed a shaking finger at the door. "Get out of my room—now!"
"Out?" Carlos chuckled darkly, muscles rippling as he leaned closer. His gaze raked over her bare skin like a wolf eyeing prey. "Did you really think I mistook you for someone else?"
How naive.
Ignoring her widening eyes, he wound a strand of her hair around his finger, inhaling deeply. She believed this was some drunken accident. But no—he'd hungered for this for years, since the day she first toddled into his life.
That twisted smirk sent ice through her veins. With a frantic shove, she scrambled off the bed—barefoot and stumbling—
"Help! Somebody—!" Her nails scrabbled at the locked door—useless.
Carlos advanced with lethal calm, his movements deceptively controlled. As Alicia tried to flee, he wrenched her backward by her hair, crushing her against his chest in an unbreakable vise.
"Running from me, Alicia?" His voice came as a velvet-dark whisper, volcanic with years of suppressed desire. "Can you even fathom how long I've waited for this?"
Like a beast unleashed, he plundered her mouth with desperate hunger. "When I heard about your engagement to my brother tomorrow—" His grip turned punishing. "Do you know what that did to me?"
Her forehead slammed against the door, tears streaking her cheeks as she struggled. "You're insane—a complete madman!"
"Damn right I am!" The raw agony in his voice shredded the air like razor wire. "I loved you first! I kept vigil at your sickbed, made porridge with these hands—" His voice broke. "Yet you chose him?"
Memories flashed—the cherry blossom tree where he'd left that unmarked love letter, only for her to credit his brother. Every kindness stolen by another.
The thought of losing her forever snapped his restraint.
With calculated brutality, Carlos wrenched her leg upward. His breath scorched her ear. "Even if you hate me... tonight I claim what should have always been mine."
