When he leaves the rather fine-looking and expensive room, Linus is greeted by the sight of Lucas Levisay's shadow waiting for him. Linus wanted to voice out a sarcastic remark, but decided against it and just scoffed.
"Allow me to be your guide." the emotionless man told him before walking ahead.
Linus snorted before pocketing his hands and following him. "Great. A tour would be nice."
"The sooner you learn that sarcasm will get you nowhere, the sooner you will learn something." was Sharpie's smart remark and Linus glared at his back.
"The 500 million-worth of Levisay mansion has everything your tiny brain could probably think of."
Linus just raised an eyebrow at that before curling his lip. He pretty much knew about that. Their mansion is probably one of the most expensive houses there is. And Linus doesn't get why rich people need to waste their money building that kind of expensive house that will probably house not more than ten people. Why do you need a big house when you can hardly get together and stay together? To show off your wealth? To prove your net-worth? Why build a house that will pretty much never be called a home?
But anyway, that is their life and wealth, both things Linus does not really care about.
"It has a total of hundred rooms and you will have to memorize all of them. The first family doesn't really have to leave the house because everything they need is already inside. Levisay has its own Mall, nightclub, sports club like golf, badminton, tennis, etc. The mansion also has a 40-seat movie theater and an indoor aquarium. "
Linus could feel a vein popping in his forehead in boredom and annoyance. "Nice. You know, not that I asked for you to tour me around, but what is the sense of this, really? I thought I'll just meet the sacred family or the royal family. Whatever." he said impatiently and stopped walking.
The red carpet he's walking on or the marbled walls probably cost millions, but he still won't give a s***.
"To slap your failure in the face. Napoleon is right, however, your thirst for whatever useless revenge you're aiming for is admirable."
Linus clenched his fists in anger. "It's not useless." he hissed between his gritted teeth.
Sharpie only nodded his head, unfazed by Linus' obvious anger. "Sure, but your reason is as interesting as your interest in my touring. Well, I guess we'll have to end it and just go straight to the greetings, shall we?"
Linus stared after the retreating man's figure. He annoyed the sh** out of him and his undead expressions and talks irked him to no end.
Still, wanting for this day to end, Linus followed after the man and did not bother to admire his surroundings. He was never a fan of fancy things. He's never a fan of how expensive things are around him. He's lived a simple life with his adoptive parents and he's content with what they have and he won't ask for more. They turned hallways after hallways and it seems like they are walking around a maze. It puzzles Linus just how can Sharpie remember his way when all he sees are the same. Linus looked back and wondered if he'll ever make it back to that room without getting lost.
After what seems like forever, they arrived at a massive foyer with a set of gold chandeliers, and Linus won’t be surprised if they are real and you can pawn. Also in the center can be seen a golden fountain that just needs, even the water to be turned into molten gold. It would have been even more interesting for Linus if the water had been turned into blood by Lucas from the people he killed.
After the long-ass foyer, they entered yet another hallway, but from their position, Linus could already see the bright light. He also heard the familiar sound of cutlery, dishes and whatnot. It was a sign that they are nearing the dining area and he was set to meet the Levisay family and Abe Levisay.
The name brought a sudden nervousness into Linus. Maybe because he's been seeing his face for awhile now. Maybe because his mismatched eyes will always linger and stop for a little longer at his picture. And maybe because he's been wondering if Abe's eyes are as blue as what he sees in the picture. If it will blind him like it does whenever he stares at his eyes. And Linus also wonders if his eyes are as sad as what he sees.
The first thing Linus noticed is the ridiculous archway with suspicious and rather auspicious design that made him wonder if the artist was drunk. The artwork looked like a group of obviously wealthy people standing over a table, what made his stomach churn was the group of crying men, women and children under the table as if they were the legs of the table. The artwork brought a feeling of disgust to him and it made him loath Lucas Levisay more.
His eyes slid from it to the number of uniformed men and women standing like a statue outside with their back and neck so straight, it almost gave him a feeling of a stiff neck. Linus paused and resisted the urge to roll his eyes when a woman announced their arrival.
"Sharpie and newly recruited bodyguard Savage are here." a formal voice announced and it came from a blonde woman with her eyes glued to the wall in front of her.
Linus couldn't help but chuckle at that. That was fast, as if they already planned it and maybe they did.
Linus ignored how massive the dining area is. He ignored just how it's as big as a freaking court or how the utensils on top of the table are all made of f******* gold. His eyes zeroed on the man sitting in the middle with his chin resting on clasped hands.
"Am I supposed to bow or something?"
From the corner of his eyes, he saw how two of his men moved to probably teach him a lesson, but Lucas lifted a finger and they stopped.
"Please don't. It's not like I'm a King or anything." Lucas deadpanned with now Marcus beside him like the good boy that he is.
Even a King doesn't act like this, doofus. He does not have twenty something people out the corridor to serve him and additional ten maids around you who will scramble to follow your orders. The King also could not be surrounded by some armed men around him while he was eating. A King certainly wouldn't have a mural outside signifying s*****y. You are not a King, Lucas. You are a demon incarnate. Linus said inside his head, but on the outside, he remained stoic to show them that he's slowly adapting to his 'place'.
"I'm sorry if we've interrupted your sleep. I just want you to meet my lovely family and the one you're assigned to. My second born and heir is a year younger than you if the reports are true." Lucas started with that sick smile of his that is full of pretentious.
How long had he known that piece of information about him? Linus wondered. But then again, with his power and influence, Lucas can probably know one's whole life with a snap of his finger.
Lucas nodded at a spot to the right next to another in uniform like him and Linus complied. He watched as Lucas' eyes left him and he turned to talk to Marcus. Linus blinked slowly and studied everyone around him. Minutes later, Linus picked up the sound of heels clacking against the marbled floor. Long and confident strides. Feet that are memorized and know exactly where to go. Feet that seem to want to let everyone know who she is and that she is coming.
"Ms. Benneth has arrived."
Seconds after the announcement, a woman emerged with her head held high. Linus immediately noticed her Auburn hair that was tied in a tight bun. From his position, he caught a glimpse of her brown eyes. Unlike Lucas, who's already white as a paper, the lady is as white as Snow White. But as pretty as she is, Linus guessed that her attitude is nothing close to her angelic face.
Ah, the famous mistress of Lucas Levisay, the one and only Lola Benneth. She looks a lot younger than Lucas, not that Linus is against that kind of relationship.
The woman looked excited at first when she sat down, but when she scanned the whole table where countless foods were enough for the large family, her shoulders dropped. An ugly expression replaced her beautiful face and Linus was right in his assumption.
"I told you time and time again that I'm getting tired of your Chef's cooking, Lucas. I want new foods! I'm sick of seeing the same lame presentation!" the lady screeched and her voice made Linus winced before she flipped a plate to make a point.
Lucas sighed before pointing at the mess and two maids scrambled to clean it.
"And I actually thought I'll have a good morning! Ugh!" Lola continued to b***** d out.
"Young Master Adrien has arrived."
"Mom, I can hear your voice from afar. What's gotten my beautiful Mother so pissy this morning?"
Just one look and you can definitely see the resemblance that the duo held. Both possessed beautiful auburn hair, but the man has a pair of blue eyes that he inherited from his Father. The 'first son' also known as Adrien Levisay is clad in a pair of expensive three-piece suits. Linus tried to spot his resemblance to Abe, but found none.
"Your Father's favored Chef who else! I actually wonder if you and that b**** is having an affair because I've been telling you to fire her, but you've been ignoring me!" Grandma Benneth demanded.
It's a good thing the place is huge enough or Linus will have to shave his ear off just so he can no longer hear her annoying voice. The woman is a nagger and that much is obvious. She's nothing like his sweet and lovely Mom. Linus couldn't help but miss his adoptive Mother and wondered if he'll ever see them again.
Linus slid his eyes from Lola to Lucas to find him in fact, ignoring what the woman was saying.
"How about I get you your own Chef, Mother? Would you like that?"
The fiery woman turned to her son and her sss-like attitude gone as she stared lovingly at him. "You'd do that for me, baby?" she asked with quivering lips.
"Oh, for f*** sake, am I watching a drama or something?" Linus couldn't help but ask himself, the bodyguard beside him glared at him but he only raised an eyebrow in answer.
"Of course. That is if Father will let me do so." Adrien said in a rather calm voice, his eyes turning to his Father.
Lucas shrugged his shoulder before he took a bite of his steak. "A job I don't have to do. Fine by me." he answered nonchalantly and Lola's eyes sharpened once again before glaring at Lucas.
"Now, now. Let's eat, Mom. It's a beautiful morning after all." Adrien comforted his Mother before his eyes roamed around and his eyes found Linus and his left eyebrow lifted.
"A new recruit?" he asked Lucas while still looking at him.
Linus held his stare and did not back down.
"Yes, I figured it's time for Abe to finally be a man and stop being a f****** wimp. He will now be Abe's bodyguard. He'll be with him 24/7 so you better get used to his presence."
Adrien curled his lip in amusement before he turned his eyes away in disinterest.
"As if a bodyguard can change him. What he needs is to undergo training or something." Lola suggested before rolling her eyes and scanning the food once again for anything to eat.
They have enough food for a week, but are still not satisfied. It is true that people who have not experienced poverty and hunger have no contentment in life. The longer he studied the 'family' and their robot-like assistant, the longer Linus thought he fell into a fiery pit. A heartless head of the family, a demanding and entitled mistress and a pretentious little bastard.
What good is there in staying in this Mansion?
"Young Master Abe has arrived."
Linus snapped his eyes from the dramatic and the problematic trio to the entrance to see a familiar face entering and he cursed softly.
Because the picture did not give Abe Levisay's visual any justice and for the first time in forever, Linus is tongue-tied.
