Chapter 1: The Luna Who Shouldn’t Exist
The wind was cold, and the sky was dark. Alessia stood still in front of the large mirror, wearing a white dress made for Luna. The silk hugged her body, and silver embroidery wrapped around her waist like chains. She looked beautiful, but she didn’t feel like a bride. She felt like a prisoner. Today was her wedding day. She was about to marry the man who destroyed her life. Her hands trembled as she touched her necklace, a simple silver pendant with the symbol of the moon. It was the only thing left from her mother. Her real name was Alessia Silvermoon, the last daughter of the Silvermoon Pack. But nobody here knew that. Not even the man waiting at the altar. He thought she was someone else. He thought she was weak. But he was wrong. “Are you ready, Luna?” a servant asked gently, peeking inside the room. Alessia nodded. “Yes.” Her voice was soft but steady. The wedding ceremony was held at the Moonfang Grand Temple, a huge building made of stone and silver. Wolves from all around the kingdom had come to watch. The Alpha King was getting married, and it was the biggest event of the year. But only Alessia knew the truth. This marriage wasn’t about love. It was about revenge. As she walked down the aisle, she saw him waiting. Alpha Kael Nightfang. Tall, powerful, and feared by all. His black suit fit perfectly over his broad shoulders. His golden eyes were cold like ice. No smile touched his lips as she approached. He didn’t look like a groom. He looked like a king ready to conquer. Their eyes met. For a moment, everything was silent. Alessia’s heart beat faster not because of love, but because of anger. She remembered the night her pack was attacked. The fire. The screams. Her father’s blood on the floor. Her mother’s last words: “Run, Alessia. Live, and never forget who you are.” And now she was standing in front of the man who gave the order to destroy them. “I take you as my Luna,” Kael said, her voice strong and deep. “I take you as my mate,” Alessia replied, smiling sweetly. Liar, she thought. I will never be yours. The bond ceremony was short. A cut on the palm. A drop of blood. A promise spoken under the moon. And it was done. Alessia Cruz, her fake name, was now Luna of the Nightfang Pack. The crowd cheered. But inside, Alessia’s soul screamed. Later that night, Alessia sat quietly in the new Luna chambers. The room was large and beautiful, filled with gold and dark blue. A fire crackled in the fireplace, but she still felt cold. Kael entered without knocking. “You may rest now. Your duty as Luna starts tomorrow,” he said, not even looking at her. Alessia stood slowly. “You don’t want to talk?” Kael turned, narrowing his eyes. “About what?” “About us. About being mates,” she said, keeping her voice soft. He laughed bitterly. “I didn’t choose this marriage. It was a political move. You were offered as part of the peace treaty. That’s all.” Alessia nodded, as if hurt. But inside, she was smiling. Good. The less you care, the easier it will be to destroy you later. As the days passed, Alessia learned more about Kael’s world. He was cruel to his enemies but fair to his pack. The people respected him, even feared him, but no one loved him. He never showed emotion. Never smiled. Never laughed. He was a cold king with a broken heart. And she was the fake Luna who would shatter his throne. But things weren’t as simple as she expected. Kael didn’t treat her like a monster. He gave her space, let her walk freely around the pack house, and even ordered the staff to protect her. He never hurt her. He never forced her to do anything. One night, Alessia walked outside into the garden. The moon was full, and the wind was soft. She found Kael sitting alone on a bench, staring at the stars. She sat beside him, surprising herself. “You always sit here alone?” she asked. “Yes.” “Why?” He didn’t answer right away. Then he said, “Because silence is the only thing that doesn’t lie.” Alessia looked at him. For the first time, she saw something in his eyes. Pain. Real pain. She wanted to ask more but she stopped herself. She couldn’t fall for this. She wasn’t there to feel sorry for him. She was here to make him pay. Later that week, Alessia sneaked into the Alpha library. She waited until Kael left for training, then slipped through the halls in silence. Her heartbeat was loud in her ears. Inside the library were hundreds of old books, maps, and records. She looked for anything that could help her prove what happened to the Silvermoon Pack. Then she found it. A hidden scroll sealed with wax. She broke the seal and opened it. Her hands shook as she read. “By order of Alpha Kael Nightfang, the Silvermoon Pack is to be destroyed for acts of rebellion…” She froze. This was the proof. This was what she needed to bring him down. But just as she turned to leave, a deep voice stopped her. “What are you doing?” Alessia spun around. Kael stood at the door, eyes locked on her. The scroll slipped from her hand. “What were you reading?” he asked, walking closer. Alessia’s mind raced. “I was just… curious,” she lied. “About the past.” Kael stopped in front of her, staring into her soul. “You’re hiding something.” Her breath caught in her throat. He was too close. Too sharp. Too dangerous. “I’m your Luna. I have the right to know the history of the packs,” she said, keeping her voice calm. Kael looked down at the scroll. Then he stepped back. “Be careful, Alessia. Curiosity is a dangerous thing.” He turned and walked away. Alessia fell to her knees, shaking. That was too close. But now she knew. He was guilty. And one day, she would make him pay. That night, Kael didn’t return to their room. Alessia sat by the window, staring at the stars. She should feel powerful. She had proof. She had a plan. But her heart… felt heavy. Because for a moment, when Kael looked at her— She didn’t see a monster. She saw a man who was also lost. Don’t be weak, she told herself. He didn’t spare your family. Don’t spare your heart. But even as she made that promise again, a tear rolled down her cheek. End of Chapter 1
