Chapter 2

"Love is when you look into someone's eyes,  and suddenly, you go all the way inside, to their soul... and you both know, instantly." - Unknown   Hunter Dominic Valdez's PoV: Furious, I slammed my hand on the table. Who the hell does she think she is? wrapping the whole of America around her fingers?  "AUBREE!" I shouted and seconds later my secretary entered my office eyes wide and breathless. "Y-yes Mr. Valdez?" her shaky voice came. "Who is this Cupid? I want everything about her on my desk." My intimidating voice made her nod hastily. She opened her mouth to say something but I cut her off.  "You only have an hour, leave now." her eyes went wide once again as she swallowed hard, "Right away, Mr. Valdez. Anything else?" she said after what felt like hours. I swear I'll fire her if she annoyed me more. "No, leave," I said, harsh enough for her to quickly scurry out of the office.  I ran a hand over my jawline frustratingly thinking of the mess I was stuck in. I wouldn't be here in the first place as a millionaire's son, for all I know I could be partying and getting drunk with a new girl in my arm, every other day. Heck, I could get anything at just the snap of my finger until a few months.  The sudden death of my father and the infamous billionaire of America, Dean Valdez, was nothing less than a horrible blow for me and my family. As the eldest heir of Valdez's, I was to inherit the fortune my father left behind but that seemed just like a piece of cake until the conditions of my father's will came in. I could still recall the horror on my face as the lawyer read the will to me, yeah that was indeed a shock to me. Father always saw me as nothing but a careless boy. After the will was read, I doubted why he didn't exempt me from the property share.  This is stupid, the will is stupid! but I have no choice. According to the lawyer, I had a year to build a successful business and inherit everything my father had that included his business, property, shares, and more. I stood by the window looking over the scenery outside and thinking of leaving and forfeiting everything but once again the lawyer's words popped into my head.  "Mr. Valdez, you must know the consequences of forfeiting or not fulfilling the requirements. Your father, Mr. Dean Valdez has named Kyle Valdez as the second heir to the inheritance." Oh, I forgot to mention Kyle Valdez, the stepbrother.  I bet father would have named everything to him if I wasn't the eldest. As if he already isn't enough of a pain in the ass, also decided to become a threat to my inheritance and the last thing I would do was to let him get his hands on something that's mine. Searching through my phone, I dialed Sean's number. After a few rings, he picked up "It better be important, because I was in the middle of... something." came his voice quite breathless.  Oh, I know what he was in the middle of. A smirk appeared on my lips, "Don't tell me it's the same girl you have been f*****g for a week." "It's better than not f*****g for a week." he taunted me and I mentally groaned. Apparently, he can't get over a girl he had a one-night stand with, loser. "Anyway, who's this weird Cupid girl?" I said getting to business. "You mean, The Cupid? As in The CEO of Cupid & Co." I snorted at the amazement in his voice, why does he sound so impressed? "You don't have to be that precise when you know exactly who I am talking about." he was annoying me just like my stupid secretary. I heard a chuckle on the other end, "Jealous much?"  "Don't f**k with me, Sean." He stopped laughing immediately. "You're in a bad mood ever since you started this poor business of yours. Tell me, how many have gotten hooked yet?" I gulped, controlling my anger. Starting The Love Lust was the only idea that popped into my head when I acknowledged the conditions to inherit. What did father even think, when conditioning me to start a business? Although my work was quite the opposite of  I am not like him, a businessman. He tried his best to make me learn the way his business works, but if only I knew he'll be leaving hell behind for me just because I didn't listen then I maybe I had. "That's exactly the problem. As long as this Cupid & Co. runs, I doubt I'll even make a penny let alone inherit a fortune." I scoffed. "Is it because of her? She's the only reason Cupid & Co. even runs. As for who is she? trust me bud, nobody knows who she really is." he took a pause. "There's one thing, that nobody knows when she comes in or goes out of her office. That girl is spooky."   After chatting with him for a while I sat at my office table, wondering how to get my hands on her. From the looks of it, she was smart with her ways but not smart enough. There's always a loose string, I just have to find hers.  An hour later, I found myself smirking overlooking the details of this so-called Cupid. I had to admit, she was clever. Using the rarest escape way outside that only a few people including my father used. The less common, the harder to guess but I know better than to not hack my way inside.  I took my phone out and called Sean,  "I need you to get me some things as fast as possible."  I had a plan in my mind and I would meet The Cupid today, no matter what. Half an hour later, Sean showed up with the stuff and I left before it was too late. See you at your little escape way Cupid, I thought with a smirk and drove off to the Cupid & Co.
