Chapter Six Meikah turned and watched her mother stride towards her bedroom. Breena closed the door after one more glance at Meikah, fear remaining in her eyes. Meikah tried to convince herself she couldn’t have seen clearly. A single lantern hung above the stairs, one of the few bewitched flames in the house. There’d been more than enough light.
