Chapter 002

LIAM I sat in my dimly lit office, poring over the bio of my next target. The soft hum of the computer and the occasional crackle of the fireplace were the only sounds that broke the silence. My trusted guard and right-hand man, Theo, entered the room, escorting three young men. They were the younger siblings of my sister's killers, and they would soon face the consequences of their family's actions. Theo threw the trio to the ground, and they cowered, pleading for mercy. I gazed at them with a mixture of disgust and satisfaction. The memory of my sister's brutal murder still haunted me, and these men would pay for their family's sins. "Here they are, sir," Theo said, his voice firm. I smiled, a sense of accomplishment washing over me. "You know what to do with them," I said, my voice low and menacing. Theo dragged them away, their pleas echoing through the hallway. I watched them disappear, a sense of satisfaction settling in. They were now my property, and they would soon learn the true meaning of pain. Later that evening, I stood on the balcony of my nightclub, gazing out over the crowded bar. The soft music and laughter of the patrons created a cacophony of sound that was both soothing and distracting. I sipped my glass of wine, my eyes scanning the room for any sign of trouble. That's when I saw him – Zac Jamerson, the final piece of the puzzle. He was the last living member of the family responsible for my sister's murder, and he had just walked into my trap. A sly smile spread across my face as I reached for the microphone attached to Theo's suit. "Theo, go do what you do best," I said, my voice low and menacing. I connected the speaker, and Theo's voice came through, clear as day. "Welcome to the club, Zac Jamerson. What can I get you tonight?" Zac's response was hesitant, but I could sense the arrogance beneath his words. "Just a whiskey, neat. And make it quick." Theo poured Zac a whiskey, his movements fluid and calculated. "How are you doing today, Zac?" he asked, his tone friendly but with an undercurrent of menace. Zac's eyes narrowed. "Who are you, and how do you know my name?" Theo chuckled, a low, menacing sound. "Let's just say I'm here to help you take away your worries and make your life better." Zac scoffed. "What could a bartender possibly have to offer me?" Theo shrugged. "You never know until I tell you. But let's just say it involves a substantial amount of money." Zac's interest was piqued. "What do you mean?" Theo leaned forward, his eyes glinting with intensity. "My employer is interested in meeting your sister. He's willing to pay a million dollars for the introduction." Zac's face lit up with greed, but then his expression turned wary. "What's the catch?" Theo smiled. "No catch, Zac. Just a simple business transaction. Your sister gets to live a comfortable life with a wealthy benefactor, and you get to pay off your family's debts." Zac hesitated, clearly torn. "I don't know..." Theo leaned forward, his voice taking on a persuasive tone. "Think about it, Zac. Your mom's loans are piling up, and your boss isn't exactly known for his patience. This is a golden opportunity. A win-win situation." Zac's eyes flicked to Theo's, a glimmer of interest sparking within them. "I'll think about it," he said finally. Theo smiled, a triumphant glint in his eye. "I knew you'd see it my way, Zac." I leaned in, my voice barely above a whisper, as I spoke into the speaker. "Tell him I'll double the money if he agrees right now." I watched through the monitor as Theo's eyes flickered towards the camera, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. He nodded almost imperceptibly before turning back to Zac. "Theo, I'll do it," Zac said, his voice laced with a mix of desperation and greed. "But I want the money upfront." Theo smiled, his eyes glinting with triumph. "I think that can be arranged," he said, producing a briefcase filled with stacks of cash. Zac's eyes widened as he signed the contract, his hands shaking slightly as he took the briefcase from Theo. I smiled to myself, feeling a sense of satisfaction wash over me. "The power of money is indeed underrated," I thought, leaning back in my chair as I watched Zac's desperation unfold before me. Time flew by, and the day of reckoning finally arrived. Theo arrived with Ruby Jamerson in tow, and I couldn't help but notice the fear and anxiety etched on her face. It was almost... intoxicating. As our eyes met, I felt an unexpected spark of attraction. But I quickly suppressed it, reminding myself that she was, after all, a Jamerson - a family that had wronged me in the worst possible way. "Are... are... you the doctor friend to my brother?" Ruby stuttered, her voice trembling. I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What doctor friend?" I asked, my tone cold and detached. Ruby's eyes darted nervously around the room. "The one that's supposed to help increase my grades?" I stared at her, taken aback by her naivety. It seemed her brother had kept her in the dark about the true nature of their deal. I nodded to Theo, who stepped forward. "This is Liam Williams," he announced, his voice dripping with an air of reverence. Ruby's eyes widened in shock as she realized the truth. She had been tricked, and she knew exactly who I was. Everyone in the city knew the name Liam Williams. I was a man of power, of influence, and of ruthless determination. A slow smile spread across my face as I watched Ruby's expression change from fear to horror. She knew she was in trouble, and she knew exactly who was responsible for her predicament.
