I'm prepared

The phone kept on ringing and she dismissed the call as she saw Daren’s eyes fixed on her face. “You have a call,” he pointed out and she nodded sheepishly. He sighed and walked away from her. She heaved a sigh as soon as he walked away and she saw him proceeding to the bathroom. She stood up and hurried out of the room. She hurried past the passage and proceeded to the balcony. She could still see the phone ringing in her hand and she answered the call. “What do you want?” She asked in whispers. “I don’t know the game you and your friend are trying to play with me. I need my complete money, plus adds on for my time wasted,” he said seriously. She chuckled and shook her head slowly. “You bastard, I’ve paid your money already, and whatever that happened between you and Rita is none of my business,” she said and he didn’t reply. “And talking about adds on? You must be sick! You ain’t getting a dime from me any longer,” she said, confidently. “That’s a joke, right?” He asked with a chuckle. “Joke? Joke, you say?” She asked with a scoff. “You will hear from me, Lisa,” he threatened and hung up. “Get the f**k off!” She yelled into the phone as she panted heavily while staring through space. She turned and walked out of the balcony immediately. As she walked past the passage, Diana appeared from the hidden corner she had been hiding, listening to their conversation. She smirked and heaved a sigh. “We’re almost there, Lisa,” she said with a sinister smile on her lips. * 6:45am in the morning, she heard her phone ringing on the lamp shelf beside the bed. She rubbed her palm on her face and looked at Daren who was fast asleep beside her. She reached for her phone on the shelf and looked at the caller ID. “Jerry,” she muttered with a frown. She sat up right and proceeded to the bathroom hastily. “What do you want?” She asked in whispers. “I’m right beside the estate gate. If you don’t show up in a minute, I will step into the mansion and blow everything up!” He yelled. “I..I.um..I will be there,” she said at once. She dashed out of the bathroom and wore a long thick jacket over her nightie. She picked up her car keys and sneaked out of the room. * From the balcony where he stood, he saw Melisa stepping into the black G-wagon. He walked back into the room where he could see Diana getting Dele ready for school. “Babe, it seems our beloved Lisa is up to something,” he said to his wife. Diana stood up from the floor where she was kneeling and her brows raised. “She’s driving out right now,” he informed and she smirked and nodded. ** With her heart racing fast, Melisa stepped out of the car and she could see him standing beside the black car parked beside the estate gate. She looked around carefully and walked towards him. He took the face cap off his face as he saw her walking towards him and he stood up right with his gaze fixed on her. “What are you doing here? What do you want?” She asked, her eyes burning against his face. “I’m here for my money,” he said and she scoffed and shook her head. “You thought I was joking when I told you I'm not giving you a dime anymore?” She asked. He chuckled and wiped his lips with his palm. “What was the agreement, uh? What was the agreement, you bastard?!” She barked in his face. “I see,” he said with a smirk. “See what? See what, you psycho!” She continued. “You are gonna hear from me, Lisa. You are gonna hear from me,” he said as he opened the door of his car. “Oh, you wanna come right in front of the Taiwo’s family and spill our secret? Come on, do it and let’s both face the consequences. I’m prepared, in case you don’t know. I’m seriously prepared for what is to come,” she said confidently. His brows gathered and he began to fume as she gave him the middle finger and walked away from him. He remained glued to his spot as he saw her driving back into the estate. “s**t!” He cursed as he punched the air angrily. “Hello, Mr,” he heard a familiar voice behind him and he turned to see the ebony lady standing beside him. “Are you ready for business now?” Diana asked with a smile and he kept silent as their eyes locked for a moment. * As she walked into the room, she was welcomed by baby May’s cries. She sighed in frustration as she saw Daren trying to make the baby calm. “Where have you been?” He asked, turning to look at her. “I..I went out,” she replied as she took off her jacket. “Where?” He asked in a rather high tone. “I went out, Daren! I went out!” She flared. He was taken aback for a moment and his eyes shone wide as he saw her body trembling violently. He gulped and heaved a sigh as his gaze narrowed away from her face. “I’m..I’m sorry I yelled at you,” she apologized immediately. Without a word, he took baby May into the bathroom and she sat on the bed sobbing silently. He walked out of the bathroom a few minutes later and saw her sitting on the bed with her face buried in her palm. She seemed to be troubled but he wasn’t going to pressure her to speak any further.. * In the red Ferrari parked in front of the mall, he watched as Evan stepped into the Ferrari, holding two cups of ice cream and burgers. “Oh, you know what I need, man,” he said with a smile as he pounced on the burger immediately. “Hahaha, this bromance is stronger than what we share with our wives,” Evan said jokingly and they both laughed. "Yes, we’ve really come a long way, bro,” he said with a nod. “Yeah. You, me, Lisa and Toyo,” he said with a smile. “Talking about Lisa, I don’t seem to know my wife anymore,” he lamented. “What has she done this time around?” He asked. “She left the house earlier this morning without my notice. And when she returned, I asked for her whereabouts and she flared up,” he related. “Hmm,” Evan mumbled. “Something is definitely wrong,” he said. “I’m so confused and I don’t know what to do about it,” he lamented with a sigh. “Should we hire a PI to do the job?” Evan asked. “A private Investigator?” He asked and Evan nodded. “We need someone who could monitor her movements, hack into her phone, and give us vital information. Scot is the man for that,” he said with a smile. “Scot,” he called as he heaved a sigh and Evan nodded confidently. “He’s the best as far as I know in Lagos,” he said. “Fine, I need you to connect him to me,” he said and Evan nodded again. * The lights were dim as they stepped into the moderate hotel room. Jerry stood up from the bed as he heard the sound of their shoes as they walked into the room. “Care for something?” He asked, lowering the cigarette from his lips. “No. We’re just here for business,” Diana voiced out sternly as her gaze settled on his face. “Have your seats,” he offered and they both sat on the sofa beside the bed. She looked at her husband and he dropped the briefcase he was holding on the table. “I guess my wife must have informed you of the deal and everything involved in it,” Dotun said with a deep voice. “Yes,” he answered grumpily with his eyes settled on the briefcase. “In the briefcase is the sum of 50 million naira in cash,” he revealed. Silence fell in and Jerry's eyes bulged. “That is only an advance payment,” Dotun continued as he looked at the young man whose eyes were staring at the briefcase clumsily. “Yes, you will get another fifty after the job is complete,” Diana added. He kept silent for a while and dropped the cigarette on the table slowly. “The job will be done. But first of all, I need to be sure of what I’m going there for,” he said. “Sure? Aren’t you sure of being the baby’s daddy?” Dotun asked. “I’m sure. But I need confirmation before proceeding with the Job so we don’t mess things up,” he said. The couple stared at each other for a while. “A DNA test will be required,” he suggested. Diana sighed as she looked at her husband whose face had grown cold. “Fine, we will conduct a DNA test on the child before proceeding,” she agreed. “I need anything I can use for the test to be conducted,” he requested and she smirked. “Leave that to me,” she said sinisterly.
