Their slow footsteps were heard as they walked into the room, glamorously donned in black expensive outfits. Hand in hand, they walked into the luxury bedroom where they could see Elsa Boseman sitting elegantly on the black couch, sipping wine with a laptop sitting on her lap.
They stopped as they watched her drop her glass and typed words into the laptop.
“What can I offer you?” She asked without raising her eyes.
“Mother, we are sorry to disturb you at this hour. We have something urgent to discuss with you,” Dotun spoke with his eyes fixed on his mother who was deeply engaged.
“Five minutes,” she stated and they both took their seats on the couch facing her.
“Mother, it’s about Daren and everything going on in the family,” he continued.
“Straight to the point, please,” she snapped with her eyes still fixed on her laptop.
He sighed and gulped.
“As we’ve all seen, Daren is not ready to move on from Melisa and it’s making the company suffer. He is also about to tarnish the family’s name by getting involved with his slut of a wife.
We need to act, mother. And I thought of a way we could turn his mind around,” he related and stopped for a moment as he saw Elsa raising her eyes to look at him.
“And what is this new idea of yours? Because the last one you came up with, landed us in this situation we are today,” she shot.
“No, mother. My husband is not the cause of the problem. Melisa is,” Diana put in.
“I wasn’t talking to you,” Elsa slammed and she went mute immediately.
“Mother, this new idea of mine is to make Daren move on with his life. I believe if we threaten him about losing his position as the CEO of the company, he will pick his life up and move on without Melisa,” he revealed.
Elsa kept silent for a moment with her gaze fixed on their faces.
“Daren will move on without Lisa. It’s only a matter of time,” she assured and he chuckled.
“Mother, you don’t seem to know the strong bond they both share. It’s unbreakable,” he said and she frowned.
“That’s the only way out, mother. The only way out,” he cajoled with a soft voice.
She kept silent and returned her gaze to the laptop.
“Leave, I will seek the face of your grandmother,” she said and they both stood up immediately.

“Dotun’s idea is great. My company is suffering due to Daren’s continued absence. As much as I don’t want to say this, I don’t think I can fully rely on Daren to take over the company.
I need someone who is bold, brave, strong and determined. Someone who is willing to make sacrifices to keep the company at the top, not someone who gets easily emotional and would abandon his job because of a slut,” Mrs Selina said with a chuckle from where she was seated opposite her daughter.
“Mother, Daren will get back up,” Elsa assured.
“Elsa, it seems you’re not well acquainted with your son. Daren will continue to whine over his adulterous wife. I don’t see him getting up anytime soon,” Mrs Selina emphasized.
“Mother, I will make him do it. I will get him a wife and as soon as he gets a woman in his life, he will move on from Melisa,” she spoke with confidence.
“It’s not a bad idea if we get him a wife. Do you have a beautiful, intelligent and well behaved lady in mind?” She asked with a smile.
“Yes, I found one for him. She’s the daughter of Senator Lawrence. She arrived in the country a few days ago. Her mother and I have been in touch,” Elsa said with a wry smile on her lips.
“Senator Lawrence, hmm, he’s super wealthy,” she said with a smile and Elsa nodded.
“Very good. Get the girl as soon as possible, we have no time,” Mrs Selina said with all seriousness and she nodded.

With his back leaning on the swivel chair, his eyes stared into space as he became lost in thought. He had been in the office all day but he couldn’t bring himself to work, nor meet up with all his appointments.
He doesn’t know why he was thinking about her. Thinking about his adulterous wife.
He doesn’t want her to go to prison as he knew she was innocent. Somehow, he still felt a longing to see her face, he felt a longing to know how she’s faring behind the cell gates.
Despite the pains she had put him through, he still couldn’t help but worry about her. He knew she had done all she did just so they could be happy, just so he wouldn’t lose his inheritance. He knew Melisa so well. She wouldn’t hurt him on purpose.
His happiness had always mattered to her and he wouldn’t forget how she had sacrificed her family to be with him.
But yet he was mad. Mad by the fact that she had hidden the truth from him. So many times, he had tried to detest her but he couldn’t. Rather, he found himself longing to be with her. He found himself longing to be with May despite the fact that she wasn’t his biological daughter. They were the people that made his life complete. His life is nothing without them, he thought as his eyes began to well up with tears.
He sighed as he saw his phone ringing on the desk.
“Hey, man,” he called grumpily.
“Dude, where are you?” Evan asked from the phone.
“In the office, doing nothing as usual,” he muttered dryly.
“It’s evening already, why don’t you drop by to say hi?” Evan requested.
He kept silent for a moment.
“Tell Toyo to prepare me a sumptuous meal,” he said and they both laughed.
“Ok, man. See you later,” Evan said and hung up.

As he strolled into the house that evening, he was welcomed by the shout and cries of kids in the living room.
He smiled wryly as he knew Toyo’s kids could be a handful sometimes. It reminded him of the days when he would come home and be welcomed by May’s cries.
He smiled and unbuttoned the first two buttons of his dress as he walked into the living room.
Just then, he stopped abruptly as his eyes fell on the kid sitting with her back facing him with the boys running around her. He could hear her shouts and giggles as she played with the boys and his heart became heavy.
“May,” he muttered inaudibly with his eyes welling up with tears.
