Ding!
Before Matthew finished his sentence, the elevator opens and a group of people came in, squeezing them inside.
Matthew got in front of Anna to protect her. This gesture warms her heart. She got confused. Originally she knew they hated each other because of the car incident and the business proposal thing but there is something about Matthew... This thought made her shivers in fear. She closed her eyes tightly and sighed.
Matthew felt her breath in his back. He sensed her uneasiness.
After like an eternity, they reached the ground floor. After the people came out, Matthew headed out glancing at Anna.
Anna nodded and silently headed to her car. Matthew stared at her retreating figure.
"You are like a puzzle to me, Anna..." uttered Matthew.
"Ehem... so Ms. Miranda no more... just Anna now huh!..." teased Jack who happens to heard Matthew as he got out of the elevator.
Matthew just smirked and walked towards their car.
After 30 minutes, Anna arrived at her house. She heard Enzo and Gabriel laughing. She halted and tightly closed her eyes. She held her chest and exhaled. Two years have passed but the pain is still there. If Gabriel stayed faithful, they would be a happy family. This thought is killing her, repeatedly... over and over again...
She couldn't give Enzo a whole family. She loves her son so much. And it hurts her even more.
The pain of betrayal never goes away. It's like a wound that has been scabbed but once scratched, it would bleed again... non-stop..
After a couple of deep breathing, she opened the door. The father and son are playing chess.
"Hi, Mommy!" greet Enzo.
"Hi, baby. How's school?" she asked her son lovingly.
"Fine,Mom. Our teacher asked us to draw a house. She said my artwork is really nice. I said I got it from you because you're good at designs. But my looks from Dad, we're both handsome. Right, Dad?" said Enzo giggling.
"Of course! Gimme five!" said Gab.
"Hi, Anna. there's food on the table. I can reheat it for you." said Gabriel while smiling at Anna.
"No, it's okay. I ate at the office. Thank you." she rejected instantly.
"Ahm, okay. So, I will take my leave then." he said.
Anna just nodded. She didn't want a long conversation with his ex-husband.
Anna followed Gabriel to the door to lock it after he got out.
"Anna... Can I take you and Enzo to the farm on the weekend? Grandma is urging me to bring you two there." said Gabriel. His eyes were sad and pleading. And she hates those eyes!
"I am sorry my week is full, maybe I need to rest my weekend. Enzo needs to go to his music lesson." she said directly to decline his invitation.
She knew Grandma loves them but she cannot stand a minute with Gabriel, what more a whole weekend.
"I am so sorry, Anna. I know you cannot forgive me. But for the sake of Enzo, can you please set our things aside?"
