Losing a Friend and a Lover

Anna woke up panting heavily, as if she was tired carrying half the man's weight.
She wasn't happy recalling that incident because that was the night before she discovered her husband's infidelity. The business meeting was cancelled that unfortunate night.
After the man was loaded in the ambulance and the police got her statement, she went back to her hotel to change her clothes because she got the man's blood on her dress.
She got a message that the meeting was cancelled last minute due to some reasons they did not disclose.
That made her trip to Hongkong cut short. And the rest is a painful history.

She washed up and prepared breakfast and lunch for her and Enzo. She made sure to prepare healthy packed lunch for her son. This week she started packing her own lunch due to that deadline. Going out or falling in line during lunch is time consuming.
On their way out, Gabriel's car appeared on their driveway.
"Hi! Can I take Enzo to school. it's not far from my office." he smiled but did not reach his eyes. Being with Gabriel for a.long time, she knew that he is not doing very well. He maybe have something bothering him. But she doesn't want to know. Honestly, what for?
"I'm afraid you are over doing it. Your turn to have Enzo is next week. Don't bother, it's still early. I can send him to school. And, I want to talk to his teacher." She said in one go.
"Well then, I have to tag along since we're on the same way." Gabriel said.
Anna's car drove away and Gabriel followed them. Enzo's school is 15 minutes drive from Gabriel's office.
Gabriel watched as the mother and son duo entered the school. He didn't got out of his car but watched them approched the teacher. They talked for a while and he saw Anna kissed Enzo's temple. Then she bid goodbye.
Going out of the gate, Anna noticed Gabriel's car. She just glanced a little and drove back.
Gabriel let out a sigh before driving back. From Anna's residence to Enzo's school, his work is almost in between the two locations. So he has to go back.
He missed Anna, his best friend. They were together since college. She's not only his girlfriend that time but also her best friend. That's why when he lost her, he lost a friend and a lover.
He reached his office. Carl approached him.
"Sir, the Mindanao branch report is already in your table. Also your coffee.." said Carl, his secretary. He learned his lesson. He doesn't want a female secretary anymore. Male secretary is as efficient as well.
"Thanks, Carl." Gabriel said.
Carl looked at Gabriel and smiled and nodded before leaving his office. His boss' lonely eyes didn't go unnoticed. It's been a while since he see his boss this sad. He sighed. His boss has to get on his feet with the problems the company is facing right now.
