Chapter 12 a fresh start.

I made over a hundred muffins in no time. It took longer for them to cook than it did to mix them. While they cooked, I got the fresh fruit out my cupboard ready to prepare all the fruit for the pancakes. Chloe joined me at 6am with a few Omegas close behind. I had the second batch of muffins in the oven cooking when she came down. I had her a muffin and coffee ready though. “Just like always.” She said to me smiling and taking them out my hands. “Do you ever sleep?” She asked laughing. “Yeah, occasionally.” I said back giggling. “The next lot of muffins will be done in 10 minutes, and then oven is all yours.” I told her. “That’s fine hunny.” She replied taking a drink of her coffee. The other omegas were busy getting the breakfast items sorted out. I was going to help them, but Chloe told me not too as they needed to learn now. I found the bowls out the cupboards, and I would put the fresh fruit in once I had prepared it all. “Do you think this will be enough fruit? Chloe.” I asked her. I hadn’t even chopped it up yet. We both looked at it and decided that as long as I chopped it small enough it would be enough. I then took my muffins out of the oven and placed them on a wire rack to cool. I put all the first batch on the server trays and put them on the counter near the door. I turned back to make a start on the fruit chopping, when one of the young Omegas walked past me hurriedly while she was carrying a sharp knife. We both collided and the knife went into my right arm. The Omega squealed and hit the floor still holding the knife, only now there was blood on it, she screamed louder. I felt the sharp pain in my arm and quickly grabbed it out of reaction. It wasn’t until I looked at the girl I realised what had happened. “Oh my god, Lauren are you ok?” Chloe claimed. “I am fine Chloe.” I said keeping pressure on my arm. I looked at the Omega who was now in tears. “Are you ok?” I asked her. She looked as if she was in shock “Chloe help her, I will get this wrapped up and sorted.” I told Chloe. She looked at me shocked but did do as I ask. I asked one of the other Omegas to grab me the first aid kit and I headed towards the back of the kitchen. This was the only area that we didn’t really use to prepare food. There was a small table in the corner. The Omega placed the first aid box on the table and just looked at me. It wasn’t very often that we ever needed to get the kit out so not many people knew what to do. Chloe had calmed the young girl down and was walking over towards me with her. “I am so so sorry Lauren. I had forgotten the mushrooms and was going to get them. I shouldn’t have taken the knife with me, I am so sorry.” She said. “It’s ok, it was an accident. Throw that knife away now though, won’t you. I am fine so don’t worry.” I told her reassuringly. She nodded her head and did as I told her. Chloe grabbed a few bits from the first aid box and a small flannel. I moved my hand and rolled up my sleeve so we could get to the cut. It had already stopped bleeding and didn’t look as bad as when I first saw It. Nevertheless Chloe washed it and placed a dressing on it. “You need to go and change you top.” She told me. “We can’t have blood near the food can we?” She added. I nodded and went over to wash my hands in the spare sink first. I looked at the fruit I had to prepare and back at Chloe. “Go Its not going anywhere.” She said to me. I did as I was told and went to my room to change. I found another top and changed it. My coveralls had blood on them too so I placed them into my wash bag. I looked over at the time and hurried back down stairs. Everyone was getting on with their jobs again so I grabbed a spare coverall and went back to chopping fruit. After working in silence for about 10 minutes, I spoke to Chloe. “ what do you think?” I asked her. She looked from her station and nodded approvingly. “That looks like plenty for a try out hunny.” She told me. I placed all the fruit into the bowls and took it out to the dessert table as we called it. I took the second batch of muffins too. When I went back to the kitchen, I cleared all my station down and started on mixing the pancake batter up. I was planning on doing as many as I could so I made a huge batch. I placed the first lot onto my hot plate to cook and looked over at the time. 7am. I had 30 minutes to make as many pancakes as I could. I cooked 5 at a time on my hot plate and each batch took two minutes to cook properly. That should be plenty of time. After each set was finished, I placed them on the large serving tray and got one with the next set. I ended up with around 65 pancakes. That should be enough I thought. I cleared all the ingredients away and then took the tray of pancakes out into the dining room. Most of the breakfast was done too and I placed the pancakes onto the table. I looked at my hard work and turned to leave. As I did so, I turned to look at the alpha table without It being obvious. Everyone was seated including Jackson, who looked at me with a confused look. I continued back to the kitchen and walked straight in. “What’s his problem.” I thought to myself.
