As Dina stepped into the luxury store, she couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. The marble floors and crystal chandeliers glimmer with an otherworldly shine, and the rows of designer dresses looked like from another realm entirely.

The clerks greeted and surrounded Maverick, but he only noticed that Dina wasn't following. As he turned around, Dina stared at his chiseled features and confident stride, feeling a strange sense of ease. She's been ignored her whole life, others insult her, nearly get her killed. Now it's different, as if she held Maverick's hand, she'd fall into the most magnificent dream of her life.

Yet, Maverick ran out or patience, drugs her into the exclusive section of the store. Designers immediately started to measure her, check her haircut and skin condition, then put her into various finest dresses. After 2 hours of effort, when she emerged from the fitting room, Maverick was taken aback by her transformation.

Dina looked like a completely different person – a glorious lady who radiate confidence and elegance. Her pale complexion has transferred into a radiant glow, her sparkling eyes and full lips are also highlighted. Brown hair cascaded down her back in a silky cascade. Her hot figure is covered in a deep red dress, with delicate lace detailing and a plunging neckline that showed off just the right amount of skin. The passionate color reminds Maverick of the apple in Garden of Eden, dangerous and irresistible. Surely this woman can make the whole world beguiled by her beauty.

"Not bad." Maverick takes a deep breath, tries to get his confident composure back. "Let's make those trash show some respect."

They arrived the famous gala a little bit late on purpose, Maverick pulled up his unique limousine right in the middle of the entrance. As they entered the grand room, her beauty was so striking that even covered the luxurious jewelery she wore. All attention were on them with a wave of murmurs. Two pairs of eyes also located as they had stolen the thunder, both of them didn't recognized Dina, but she was well aware of them. Maverick smirks as they walk directly towards Princess Charlotte and Sebastain.

"Your highness," Sebastain bows respectfully to Maverick, hoping to make a good impression. With a quick look at the lady besides, he secretly mocked in his heart. No matter how many girls he dated, Maverick can't change the mateless truth. However, Charlotte greeted sweetly and curtsied, then gave Dina an evious look. "Brother? I thought you weren't coming."

“Cousin,”Maverick lifted a brow, corrected her before continued, "I changed my mind after hearing my darling suggestion." He smiles warmly to Dina, glacing back at the couple, "She's right. I can't trust an i***t who decides to get engaged after week with such an important decision. After all, I'm in charge of packs cooperation, and I don't clean up after love dorks."

"Thanks to your companion, your highness, this goddess leads us to meet." Sebastian stops Charlotte before she bursts out, "I've been expecting to meet you for cooperation......"

"Oh you're not qualified to call her that." Maverick hints at Dina for self-introduction with his eyes, she grabs his arm nervously, but at the same time, she couldn’t help feeling powerful. Maverick was dressed in a dark grey tuxedo with touch of red to match her gown. His diamond watch matches her jewelry. Compared to the Prince, her ex-mate becomes so pale and commonplace.

Dina took a deep breath, greeted the couple with full confidence. "I'm Dina, it's been a while since the last time 3 of us gathered. "

The couple shocked, Sebastian had to behave the best in front of Maverick, so he smiles awkwardly, pretending a careful look, “Your highness, I'm afraid you've been fraud by this rogue. We banned her from the pack, she was an insult to…” Before finishing the last words covering his murder to Dina, he was thrown halfway the yard, landing on his butt.

“Take a bow, I've seen enough circus today." Maverick moved towards Sebastian, revealing the hypercris plan, "How do you disown your mate, reject her in front of everyone, then approach my cousin in a bid to get to the palace?"

Charlotte screamed and ran to her fiance, paused as seeing Prince's eyes become dangrous golden. She's too scared to beg mercy on her furious cousin. Then a bottle of wine poured from her head, Dina emptied the red wine all over her luxury dress with an expressionless face. She almost jump on in her Lycan form to attack, but stopped by the Prince's command.

"Touch her and I will strip you of every title, make your name a curse in the kingdom." Maverick stared at her as he seized Sebastian by the collar. "Or I can just collect debts from your guy."

Charlotte growled and moved back, hung her head in submission, Prince was emitting the aura to make her submit. As she struggled, the aura becomes stronger till she can barely move. Maverick glared at her with total disappointment.

"Remember this, Charlotte. This is how it feels when someone you cherish gets hurt, and you can't do anything. Just like you've done to Dina. " Maverick gave Sebastian a blow right in the middle of his face, the only person he could take his frustration on.

The frustration that Dina wasn’t his mate, for his goddamn mateless curse, for all the suffering Dina has been through, also the fact that Dina will walk out of his life tomorrow, maybe forever.

“You let your fiancée walk on to her, in her sick state, and beat her unconscious…”

“You let her pathetic hands touch m-Dina…” he bit his tongue for almost said the impossible word, my mate.

“You threw her, slapped and chase a weak girl into the forest crawling with mad rogues. Then your fiancée bullied her, even in hospital. Shameless!” People whispering and looking at them in disgust directed to the Beta.

Gradually, distinct tickles join the violent rhythm, the mesmerizing echoes are like chimes in a summer breeze. Yet, there lingered an air of intimidation. Dina walks toward them in a pair of high heels adorned with dazzling rubies. Captivating everyone's attention, she stepped over all the red color. No matter it's wine from Charlotte or blood from unconscious Sebastian.

"Ricky, we'll be late for the fireworks." She stopped besides Marverick, complaining with tender voice, "I don't want to be late again, you've promised me."

As he stood up, she ran her hands softly on those little bruises, she smiles sweetly to him as his eyes returning to normal, "I'm bored here, let's go make my day."

The guards declared that as people started to leave, Dina can't help notice Charlotte crying hardly, run to Sebastian once she can move. Maverick squeezed her hand, encourage her with a determined look. Dina gets his point, she won't look back again. Even if she went back to her ordinary life, she'd never let anyone hurt her again. When the staff finally leaves them alone at the balcony, they both reliefs a deep breathe then bursts out of laugh at the same time.

"Amazing." Maverick praised Dina with exciting voice. "You really played well as my date and won a nice battle of revenge. "

"My heart raced so fast! I did it! I punished the Royal Princess in front of everyone." Dina says with excitement, "I pinched myself secretly to ensure I won't be weaken. Wow it wasn't a dream......"

She grabbed ice from the champagne bucket, and pressed it on Maverick's fingers and bandaging them, "It means so much. And the clothes, I don’t know how I will ever pay you…"

"You don't have to. You look stunning tonight, also an excellent example for royal spouse. "

"Oh, you look great too." Dina met his eyes, something was darken. She' sure that Maverick was just being nice, so she gives him a small friendly hug, “Thank you for helping me, Sire, even though the mate bond was a misundersatanding. I better leave early before it gets too late."

Just then small explosions were made in the sky, magnificent fireworks working perfectly together, lights up all the romantic aura, but Mavrick froze, didn’t know why but he felt pained by the way she was speaking.

She's going back to her life, but he didn’t want her to leave, he never wanted her to stay away. Was this what having a mate meant? He had been told very well that they couldn’t be mates, he didn’t know how to explain what he felt and how she didn’t, or did she?

Dina waves before she walks away from the gate. Maverick clenched his fist till she's out of sight, Knight Josie companies her out but shares a pitiful look to him.

There was only a question on Maverick’s mind, was he…could he be in love with someone he had met for less than a day? What was the feeling that made you want to be with someone forever? What made you willing to kill everyone hurt her, even if they're realtives? Was it the famous love?
