They all stood there in shock that not one but two of the Guardians had been visible to so many. And that they had shown themselves at the same time to both races was a omen that none had even dreamed of. The Guardians were singular per race, and always worked to protect their assigned race.
"Well, we appear to be on the right track." Jane said as she sat down. "Gentlemen, we have a month to prepare for what is to come. I am assembling the wolves that have shown an aptitude for magic within these walls, and we will begin their training into an effective fighting force. Any Humans that may wish to attend, as I have found access to some of the ancient training manuals that the Wolves had hidden away, are welcome to do so."
"How long until this training camp begins?" Andrews asked.
"2 days." Jane replied knowing that time was of the essence.
"The Knights shall send a team of Trainers that have proven to be adept at Magic." Williams said. "We Knights have kept the memory and forms of Magic very much alive."
Jane was completely surprised by this, and was excited to see who they would be sending. "Very well gentlemen, we needs must prepare for what is coming, and we must not overwhelm ourselves in the details of what our new alliance shall be. My Pack and the local Ingard Clan have begun negotiations for our people's to work to our mutual defense. We will be working to the goal of training our future warriors together, I would suggest that the Clans do the same with any local packs.
"As our Guardians have shown our only true hope to survive this, is by working together towards a common goal. The goal of survival of both of our races should be enough to overcome whatever obstacles we have. Let us all work towards that goal, together as we all prepare for war."
She was surprised when she heard the clapping around the table from the Knights.
"We completely agree War Chief, we shall all be here as well as the Clan Chiefs for the full moon in two weeks. Let us bind our fates completely, if we shall emerge victorious it shall be to the dawn of a new age of both Wolves and Man." Knight Sinclair said slamming his fist on the table.
"Victory or Death, together." Williams said.
The Conclave lasted long into the night that night, as they negotiated many of the aspects of the Treatise. By the time they were finished it resembled nothing of the Original, and if what Jane hopes happens on the night of the full moon does indeed, the future of both races would be drastically changed.
They all emerged from the room laughing as the had come to a mutual respect as they knew they could work together for the future of them all. Jane knew that the best way forward would be for the Knights and Elders Council to form a new War Council made up of both races.
They walked to the dining hall and the Kitchen Staff had prepared a large meal for them, and they had pulled out the stops as they served the feast. She looked around the hall from the high table, and knew that the Wolves were a little nervous about the humans. She looked them over and noticed their Auras that were eminating from the men. She cleared her throat and raised her eyebrows at them as they calmed down.
"Apologies War Chief, it will not happen again." Williams said as the Wolves relaxed a bit.
"I won't hold you too that Patrick, however we must all make work on what we are used to. The Wolves that are here are no threat to you, you are essentially in the community center of our entire pack." Jane said as she took her seat at the center of the table and they all sat around the table with her.
They continued their discussions all through the meal, some of the Wolves impressed at what the Humans were both proposing and agreeing to as the negotiations continued. When the last course was finished they had finally finished the last of the points that they had needed to iron out.
"Thank you War Chief, as we all know this will require a vote by both the Clan Chiefs and the Pack Alphas. I suggest we present this to them within the next week so we can proceed at the next full moon assuming it goes according to plan." Andrews said as he stood. "We all have work that we must get completed quickly, let us get to what we need to do so we can accomplish our goal. Come Gentleman, let us inform the Chiefs as quickly as possible."
With that they all stood, and Jane sent an email to all the Alphas quickly. She set the gathering for 3 days so that they would have a chance to read the new Treatise she had negotiated for the Packs, and might be ready to vote on them.
They actually benefitted the Pack, hoping that her blood bonding with the Alphas would cure the Curse of the Change. She looked up and was surprised there was a moon floating in front of her, and it appeared that time had stopped.
Just than the flash from the moon filled the room and Selene stood there looking at her."You are full of questions my daughter." she said simply.
"I have a lot of things to deal with, and little chance to process what has even happened so far." Jane told her.
"You are special, and what you are about to do even I dared not to dream." Selene said. "But I am not just throwing you off the deep end and leaving you to your own devices. I will help in any way I can my daughter." Selene told her.
"Why do you call me daughter and everyone else child?" Jane asked as she finally caught it and saw Selene smile.
"Because you are bound to my son. Not in the sense that Wolves are my Children, Todd is actually my child, born of my world with the bastard Kronus. As his mate you are my daughter." she answered as simply as she could. "But enough of that, your question has brought me to answer, so ask."
"Will my blood cure the Craze?" she asked looking at her as she nodded.
"From the time your blood is accepted by the Alphas, no wolf shall suffer from the Craze so long as the Alphas accept your blood into themselves." Selene answered her and bringing relief to her. "You know, the mate will not be his, but yours." Selene said surprising her.
"How do you mean?" Jane asked.
"Once you were named War Chief, you could not represent the Pack of one over another. But only an Alpha can Become War Chief, so it falls to a Luna to run a Pack. We are not meant to lead alone, and no Wolf can lead a Pack alone forever.
"It was decided that any War Chief would have the Mates needed to ensure that their own Pack is led the way in which it should. However the Mate will not belong to Todd unless she accepts you first." Selene explained.
"She?" Jane asked her eyes raising.
"Only Special Wolf Men can be mates to another, and Todd is no wolf, just as you are not." Selene explained. "And rest assured my Daughter, your actions have increased the odds, and your path is blessed." she said as her light burst forth and time resumed for her as if nothing had happened. She knew Selene had already left and was soothed by what she had said.
She heard the gong as the train approached, and the warriors went on high alert. They had not been alerted about a train arriving, and they wondered who it could be. By the time the train pulled to a stop, there were dozens of warriors lining the walls prepared to defend the pack.
Brian arrived at the gate at the same time as Jane did, and he was dressed for battle. The door of the train opened and one of the Alphas stepped off holding his hands high.
"Apologies for the secrecy War Chief, security was tightened for the Mages of the Packs transporting here for training. We humbly request entry as we have been summoned by the War Chief." Alpha Blake Jenkins said.
"Stand down," Brian ordered the guards and he commanded the gates to open for them all. "We welcome you to the Dragonian Pack, and cannot wait for the training to begin."
As the doors opened more of them exited the train, and it was clear there were a good number of them that were child age, although at least half we're clearly warriors out of their element as they were expected to reenter training. It took nearly an hour for all of them to depart the train and walk through the gates.
"Welcome to the Dragonian Pack, I know some of you have been trained warriors of your packs, and you are no longer used to the training as if you were a cadet. Cadets, you will begin this training with Warriors that have a lot of experience. We do not have a full program made yet, and we will be making this up as we go along.
"But do know we will have Humans here as well in the next few days, and you will be expected to treat them as equal brothers in arms. We will be leaping forward into the future with what we are doing, and each of us will be leading the way with every step we take. Work with us as we find accomodations for everyone that has arrived as we prepare for the lessons to begin day after tomorrow." Jane said as she addressed them all.
"We are just the first train War Chief, we represent three of the local Packs only." Alpha Blake said.
"Thank you for that knowledge Alpha, will you be joining the training?" Jane asked.
"I will indeed." Blake answered quickly. He knew the accomodations would not be to his usual standards, but he had a feeling Jane would be joining them all and she would be in the same boat.
"Very good, we have been erecting tents for the afternoon just off of the training grounds. If you would all help with the effort, I am sure we can have a good camp established before the kitchen is finished with dinner." she said as she saw Brian mind link the kitchen.
"No need Brian, we have already eaten. Cadets, we erect our own shelter before we get to earn the right of rest, hop to." Alpha Blake ordered as they moved to the training grounds that were marked.
"Are all wolves this efficient?" Williams asked as the 300 wolves rushed to what they were doing.
"We may like our celebrations, and will hold them for almost any reason. But we live our lives training for war for the most part, and when we train, we do so seriously. We heal fast, and there are no thrown punches." she said replying to him.
"We may need to rethink that if Wolves train against Humans." Williams said.
Jane laughed at this as they watched the Cadets erect several tents for sleeping quarters as the last of the light faded. Several fires were lit as dark approached, and Jane watched as the Knights dispersed to where they had been assigned guest quarters. She was deep in thought about the training regiment she was going to lead the Cadets in when they began in 2 days.
