The Change

Jane looked up at the Scarlet Moon, and knew that it would remain this way until her change was complete. And as she looked at it, she could sense her mate and knew he was coming to her now. She continued to mingle, knowing it was still a few more hours until the moon reached it's pinnacle at 1145. It was ironically the time she had been born that night, and she knew the sense of irony that this would entail. She wondered if she had been born as the moon reached the Pinnacle as well on the day of her birth.

"My dear, it is nearing 11. Shouldn't you change soon?" her mom asked her as she came into the bench her daughter had spent the last hour just gazing at the moon.

"No mom, I think it will be perfectly fine. It just one of those feelings, ya know?" Jane asked her not taking her eyes off of the moon.

"Ok my dear, but you know the first change can be painful?" she asked her.

Jane looked at her mom, and smiled as the rear fell from her eyes. "I know mom, but I promise I will be okay. I think tonight is going to be the birth of a new era, just as the Elders are afraid of." she said as she could feel something funny tickle the edge of her conscious thoughts.

"What are ya thinking about my dear?" Daisy asked as Jane looked at the moon again.

"Was just wondering where the moon was when I was born." Jane said smiling at her mom.

"Well that's easy my dear, you were born at the Pinnacle, just like tonight you will change with it. I remember because just as you were born, a beam of that beautiful full moon fell upon you like it was a blessing by the moon goddess herself. That is why we knew you would be special, and why this night is so special, especially for you." Daisy said as Jane hugged her. "Now come on, if that beautiful dress is gonna end with you, it may as well be shredded in front of everyone as you change."

And with that Daisy pulled her daughter to the podium in the center of the grounds.

It was 1140, and Jane could feel her body begin to tremble. She knew in a few minutes she would shift for the first time, and she looked up at the moon. And just as she did, she saw what appeared to be a falling star, almost perfectly center of where the moon was. She lost herself as her mother began to speak.

"Everyone, in a few moments this Full Moon shall reach it's pinnacle, and with it usher in the new Era of Luna Jane Anna Esvolt." Daisy said as Jane stood on the podium, her change already beginning as her hands changed into claws.

"We all know how painful and terrifying the Change can be, wether she joins us or not, after her change we will begin the Luna run, and we shall return here to continue the celebration." Daisy said with just a minute before.

Just than Jane fell to her knees as her spine elongated, well into the change into her Wolf form. Just than the falling start went out, and Jane could hear the clear laughter of her mate, not just through the link.

"Look out below." Tantalus said as he used his powers to slow his fall, and slowly come into contact with the ground in his Wolf form. He approached the dias where Jane was on his two feet, and every wolf present knew that he was someone to be feared.

His power washed over them all, as they knew no other Alpha that projected such a strong Aura. Just as he reached her, she stood up, and it was clear she was standing on two feet as well.

When she stood those that could see her gasped a little, as it was clear she was like no other wolf before her. And just as she turned to face her mother, a Scarlet Beam of light illuminated the entire area, and a Scarlet Flash emitted itself right in front of Jane and Tantalus. It had started the moment he lay his hand on her shoulder, her dress perfectly intact.

Just as quickly as it had begun, the flash filled, and Selene was standing there in a Scarlet Dress in the same fashion as the one Jane wore.

"Welcome my son, I trust the last part of your journey fared well?" Selene asked looking straight at Tantalus.

"Do you mean son, as in you are in fact my mother?" Tantalus asked her wanting the truth.

"In fact I do, and thanks to that bastard father, and your half brother, I have been forced to suffer as you have. But my powers have finally come to fruition, and I shall use what Zeus himself has created against him." Selene said looking at Jane.

"What did I do that is so special?" Jane asked still in her Lycan form.

"Oh you will learn soon enough my new daughter, I hope you care for his heart well. Just as I hope he cherishes the gift he has been given after so many years. Enjoy this night, for on the morrow you shall find even the gods have prices to pay." she said as she flashed again, and the moon instantly turned white, as it now passed the Pinnacle of it's power.

Olympus

Zeus had seen the Scarlet Flash, and looked down at the mortal realm for the first time in 50 Millennium, and a shiver fell down his spine immediately. A scarlet Blood Moon at the Pinnacle could only mean one thing, and Selene had used some powerful magic among the Wolves.

He decided he had let that dog brother if his sleep long enough, he was going to zap him into submission now, so he could run all the tests he needed for the next part of his plan to work. The Olympians needed his powers or regeneration and immortality to ensure a victory against the Guardians such as Selene.

True they held a peace, as the Olympians had given it to them to not interfere as he overthrew the Titans. It was time to set the stage for his new army, and he needed his brothers help to do so.

He walked behind the throne and opened the door that led to the base of Olympus, and as soon as he opened the door he traveled on a bolt. He couldn't travel between realms like this, but he could travel in the realm this way. That is why it only took him a few minutes to reach the lowest dungeon he had ever created. It was so deep, it had been 30,000 years since he sent a guard to check his brother.

So when he appeared on the cliff face, and looked at the shards of crystal that had been grown into the base itself, not supporting the prison cell below it another chill went up his spine. His brother had escaped, and destroyed the entire cell with it.

He quickly traveled back to the throne room, and summoned his brothers. He quietly paced back and forth as his brothers arrived.

"What is it brother?" Hades asked knowing it never boxed well when Zeus paced.

"Tantalus' prison had been destroyed, and I believe it was the work of other forces." Zeus said with a deadly calm. If what he suspected were true, it would be a bloody war between the Olympians and the Guardians.

True there were a few hundred more Olympians now that there had been all those millennia ago, many of the experienced warriors only had a handful of times that their essence would reform.

"This is troubling news brother," Poseidon said. "What makes you think this?"

"The Blood Moon that had risen to the Pinnacle this night, and the fact that it appears his prison was shattered." Zeus boomed as something struck Hades as he had been testing it.

"What sort of crystal did you use to build that prison brother?" Hades asked very suspicious.

"Whatever it was that Haphestus created all those years ago to make weapons. I used it to make an inescapable prison." Zeus said angrily.

"Ummm, that may be the problem. Those crystals shatter if they absorb to much power. Where was it?" Hades asked.

"The base..." Zeus trailed off as he realized what had happened and cursed. "Sound the alarm, we need to find him before he can do anything. Ares!" Zeus bellowed so that all of Olympus would hear.

It did not take long for him to arrive at the throne room, having been training a few of the soldiers that his father allowed to be trained.

"Yes father?" Ares asked as he knelt for a second and rose.

"Make haste to the mortal realm and ensure the entrance to Tartarus is secure." Zeus demanded as he needed to think of a plan quickly.

Just as Ares left the alarm was sounded by the bugle, and he knew that all of Olympus just went on the alert.

Dragonian Pack, Washington

Tantalus looked up as the bugle sounded, and a good portion of the mortal realm hear it, at the same time lightning illuminated the throne of Olympus, and he knew Zeus was aware of his escape. He had just landed and laughed as he realized Jane had seen it as well.

She turned to him, and for the first time she could smell the Maple Syrup, and Pine that his scent was to her, and it made her mouth water. "Mate." she said in a snarl as she stood and looked at him in his Wolf form.

Tantalus eyes turned black as he smelt the Strawberry and Maple from her for the first time, and knew he wanted nothing more for the rest of his life. "Mate." he replied before his eyes went blue, and he changed back into his human form.

Jane wasted no time and shifted back as well, completely in control of everything.

"Luna, the pack run?" Ingrid whispered in her ear.

"Not yet, there is something we must do first. Mother, Father, I need to introduce you to someone." Jane said loudly as most everyone had been stunned since his arrival, and they had seen it all.

"And who is this?" Daisy asked non chalant as if she hadn't seen everything.

"Mom, this is Tantalus. He is my mate." Jane said to her. The entire Pack was a little shocked, as a sun of Selene would be the Ultimate Alpha for the Pack. And there was something odd about the two of their wolves.

"Hello Tantalus, I understand you have led a difficult life up to this point." Jon said looking at his golden armor that had morphed onto him as he changed back into a man.

"I have Jon, however I do not wish to dwell on that at this time. I would however like your blessing to court your daughter, in the hopes she will come to love me through the bond, as I do her." Tantalus said formally as if he was from another time.

"You have my blessing, however, I think it is you who will be surprised." Jon said chuckling.

"Brian, bring forth the Chalice." Daisy called.

"Are you guys sure?" Jane asked, knowing what they meant.

"Are you?" Jon replied and she nodded as she looked at Tantalus.

"Than so are we." Daisy said. "Tantalus, kneel." she said more as a command.

Jane knelt in front of her parents as Jon held the Chalice that Jane had left half full, and they chilled.

"Tantalus, the Dragonian Pack has accepted Jane as it's Luna. As you are her mate, not yet bound, it shall fall to you to become Alpha of this pack on this hallowed night. Do you swear to protect this Pack with your life, to train us for war, and lead us with your mate in peace?" Jon declared the Alphas oath once more.

"I do so swear." Tantalus declared loudly as he took the Chalice from Jon and drained it, feeling a link to the pack, and a new one to Jane, although it was not as strong as the mate link. "Rise as Alpha Tantalus, and Luna Jane, long may your reign be." Jon declared kneeling as the rest of the pack, and even the Elders followed suit.

"Rise, I believe we have a pack run to lead." he said as he changed into his pure wolf form and was pitch black with blood red eyes.

Jane changed as well, he dress morphing into her body as she dropped onto all fours as a snow white wild with scarlet tips, and ice blue eyes. She howled at the moon and the entire pack joined her, a chorus so loud that Zeus himself heard the howl and experienced another chill up his spine.

And just as quickly as they started the howl it ceased, and the Dragonian Pack began it's run around the territory with the new Alpha and Luna at the lead.

None of them knew it was the beginning of a new era.
