Clark Staurton, Casanova de Las Vegas sits across the undoubtedly beautiful woman wondering how exactly Lorenzo had managed to get him strung to his mess. The disheveled woman obviously out of place in the extravagant setting of the suite tried to get him to explain a situation he’d been dragged out of a meeting for. She had an iron smell about her he’d tried hard to not notice throughout their ride
“I hear you are Mrs. Gonzalo”
He starts trying to loosen the tension
“How’d that happen?”
The woman turn beet red in embarrassment as she relives that day. She turns to him
“I’d just got fired from work, I’d lashed out at a customer for being extremely rude to one of the waiters. Got drunk etcetera woke up married to the asshole. Now what exactly am I doing here”
He stands up, alerting Soraya who jumps to her feet as well slightly wincing.
“I just want to get something in the bedroom, calm down”
He eyes her suspiciously as she sits down, her face scrunching up in mild discomfort. Ignoring that, he goes to the bedroom, taking the briefcase Lorenzo had said would be there before returning to the lounge where to his relief Soraya is still calmly seated.
He opens the briefcase, pulling out a laptop. Soraya’s interest piques as she straightens her back on the sofa
“Lorenzo’s going to say a few words to you directly. I’m just a mediator here. I don’t know what’s going on either”
She nods as he logs in to the system. Turning it to an angle where they can both see it at their distance.
She nods as he logs in to the system. Turning it to an angle where they can both see it at their distance. Clark starts a video call that Lorenzo answers almost immediately.
The air immediately thickens with tension as Soraya glares at Lorenzo not bothering to mask her annoyance
“What do you want?”
“A simple agreement”
He shows a document to Soraya through the screen
“This is an agreement I’ll summarize for you. Fully expecting your compliance”
He doesn’t give her a chance to speak as his deep voice carries on
“You, Soraya Gonzalo…”
“Don’t call me that”
She interrupts to Clark’s amusement. Lorenzo, unbothered, face as hard as steel continues
“…will stay married to me for a year…”
“What?!”
“…and after that will be permitted to file for a divorce but will not request anything from me in material, emotional or mental form….”
“I’m not staying married to you!”
Still unbothered, Lorenzo continues.
“The terms of the agreement will be signed by you when you relocate to Canada…”
“Have you gone f*****g mad!”
Lorenzo stops whatever he was about to say as he turns his attention to Soraya. She falls silent at the intensity of his Grey eyes.
“You were saying?”
When Soraya doesn’t respond, he continues eyes never leaving hers
“You will do as I’ve said willingly because I expect you to do so. Any objections?”
Snapped out of her daze, heart racing with anger she stands up, walking towards the door as she says
“I’m not doing s**t you say. Find another person to Lord over. I’m leaving now”
She turns the knob of the door to leave when she stops in her track at his voice
“Ok. Just keep it in mind that the minute you walk out that door. You can forget seeing Andrea ever again.”
Her grip on the knob tightens, digging into her injuries, turning her knuckles white as her expression drops firmly
“What do you mean?”
Lorenzo chuckles darkly, knowing she has as well as agreed to his terms
“ One of the guards outside has the Las Vegas social service on speed dial. Once you step out that door. I can assure you that they’ll be swooping in on Andrea right in Lola's house. That is her friend am I correct?”
Soraya’s eyes turn dark in horror as she looks at the laptop anger radiating through her body
“f**k you! How dare you threaten my sister! How dare you!”
She grabs the laptop, wishing it was his stupid face as she throws it across the room. It lands on the wall with a thud, discoloring the monitor of the laptop.
“You can throw anything you want. I expect you packed and ready to leave before tomorrow morning. You’ll be escorted here by Clark. Enjoy your day Mrs. Gonzalo”
Clark rushes to grab the laptop ready to object when the call disconnects. He pulls out his phone immediately calling his cousin. It goes straight to voicemail
“That conniving bastard! Haciéndome salir de Las Vegas sin previo aviso. Mataré a ese Tonto” (Making me leave Las Vegas without notice. I’ll kill that fool)
Soraya paces around the lounge unnerved by the conversation, he’d threatened her with Andrea, how’s he know about her, about where she was. She couldn’t put Andrea in danger. How’d he know Lola. As these thoughts passed through her head the more confusing everything became.
How’d she leave without Matt knowing, he’d kill her if he caught her leaving with all her things. And the rent…
The only good thing about this is the rent. What am I going to tell Andrea, how am I going to explain the relocation”
“I want to leave now”
Soraya suddenly speaks up
“You know you’ll have to do what he says. He doesn’t care about you or your sister. Sending her to a foster home to spite you is the kindest thing he could do to you”
“I’ve already agreed. I’d like to leave now”
She repeats, not in the mood for long talk. He opens the door, alerting the men standing directly outside the door. A nod from him and they make way for Soraya as she leaves the suite.
“I’ll see myself home”
She says as she moves to the elevator, Clark catches up to her stopping her before she gets into the opened elevator
“We can’t allow that. We are dropping you of”
“I know my way if you don’t mind”
“I mind, and I’m dropping you off so you can get your things and return back here”
“There’s no point. Get back to whatever you were doing before you kidnapped me!”
“You weren’t kidnapped. I suggest you listen to me. You can’t make a scene when we get down. News of your marriage to Lorenzo will soon be out”
He says smirking as he stylishly points to the guards indicating that they now know and will definitely be spreading the news. He bends to her ear
“They’re the most flippant we’ve got. The misfits in your area will be dying to get their hands on you soon”
Soraya shudders at the thought of the junkies and criminals in her good after her
“You are just as horrible as he is.”
“I doubt Mrs. Gonzalo. I doubt”
They surround her again as she enters into the elevator. Once it dings on the last floor, they all get out, Soraya still sheltered from the gaze of the onlookers.
