The Difficulties of Development

1964 Words
Master Grey Claw's Cozy Burrow establishment was pleased with the quality of its services. Dan and Elina paid for a week's stay and visited their rooms. The young man noted that his new room had beautiful furniture and excellent service. At Snotty Mouse's place, he had a more modest room. The young man did not deny himself the pleasure of taking a bath. He hoped that Tom would return soon and bring some useful information. A brief conversation with the esteemed Frowny Nose also needed a counselor. When the young man went down to the common room he saw that Elder Frowny Nose was not bored waiting for his new acquaintances. The mouse was sitting at a table in the company of other city dwellers and was having an important conversation. Dan approached the table and all the unknowns greeted the newcomer. Then the citizens left and only one short warrior in beautiful leather armor remained at the table. The warrior was of the mouse nation. A dagger on his belt and armor indicated his profession. The elder introduced the new citizen. "I asked a good acquaintance of mine to keep us company. A warrior of Tail's clan will no doubt give useful advice to you," grunted the Frowny Nose. Dan nodded to the warrior and introduced himself. "Swordsman Dan is pleased to meet the warrior." "My name is Nimble Tail and I will not be kind," grinned the mouse. He spoke without a desire to make a good impression. "I understand why I am here and have no intention of taking up your time. Take a seat, young swordsman. Have a nice drink and listen carefully to the news that will ruin your mood for a long time." Mouse took out his dagger and placed it on the table in front of him. He looked at Dan and grinned again. The old warrior didn't want to fulfill the role of someone who would deliver unpleasant news to a colleague of proficiency. "This weapon is from my former world. It has not betrayed me. Your sword will also serve you well. Your trouble is that now you have lost the power of all your skills. I don't know how the gods are helping you develop. Look at any of your fighting abilities and notice the change." Dan knew right away that the conversation was about important things. He didn't ask stupid questions and immediately opened his abilities section. He noticed the difference in the skill description right away, and he didn't like what he saw.   [Cut of Kornelius. Development: 12%. Level 3. Required level: 10 Requirement: Swordsman Mana cost: 0. Applying the skill adds +42 points of damage to the attack. Increases attack power by 250%. Cooldown: 4 seconds]   There is a new detail in the description of the skill. Previously, the skill did not have property Development. And the new property showed that Dan had an incomplete level of development. What did it mean? How to develop a skill? Do I have to spend experience points? The swordsman immediately had questions in his head. But Dan didn't ask questions and quickly looked at the most important skill of his game.   [Rage of Ars. Development: 100%. Level 19. Required level: 10 Requirement: Swordsman. Mana cost: 0. Applying the spell adds +48 points of damage to the attack. Increases attack power by 480%. A 480% weakening of Defense for 2.7 seconds. Cooldown: 12 hours]   The young man smiled and mentally thanked his patron for his help. Dan even raised his goblet of delicious drink and whispered with sincere feeling. "Thank you, Ars Obsessed with Battles." The mouse warrior nodded his head understandingly. The name of the warrior patron was familiar to him. "You have questions. I am an experienced warrior and am happy to show my expertise. I will give you at once the answers to the important questions that relate to your problem. Your skills have lost power. That means your attacks have lost power. Be careful in new battles with monsters. You will have to do a lot of battles to strengthen yourself. The skill only develops from defeating monsters. In the Adventurers Guild, you can get assignments and demonstrate your usefulness to the Community and your development. I have said enough and can now return to my business." Mouse stood up and left the room. Frowny Nose sighed at the unpleasant news the young man had received. Now the young man himself would be the messenger of bad news for his companion. "Some warriors find time to develop peaceful occupations. I hasten to calm you. Your mastery of the peaceful profession has not suffered. The community is always pleased to have a new master in its ranks. Do you do blacksmithing?" "Yes. I try to find time and work at the forge," Dan smiled. He was still feeling frustrated by the new demands. He wondered about possible trouble. "Dear Frowny Nose, perhaps you can warn me of other unpleasant features of the new world?" "There are very dangerous monsters in the dungeons. But a group of experienced warriors is rarely defeated during their adventures. Each death takes away one rank and comes with nasty penalties. After rebirth, you will temporarily lose some of your powers," the mouse spoke slowly and it was obvious that he was uncomfortable talking about the problems. "But the most unpleasant feature of our life is the enmity between the nations. Fighting goes on in every place. Many bad persons don't want to waste their time fighting monsters and preying on the other inhabitants of the world. You'll have to be careful." Dan suddenly remembered that in Grossroads he had been given Zangar Castle, which had become a safe shelter and a tool for him to gain power and wealth in Grossroads.  "I want to ask an important question. Are there very dangerous dungeons in this world? Identify to me the most dangerous mission that awaits the appearance of a brave specialist," Dan saw a princess appear in the hall. Frowny Nose did not hurry with his answer. He stood up and waited for the princess. "Please join the table and recover your strength. I am willing to be of service to such an extraordinary person," the mouse showed respect and sat down. He thought for a moment and answered the swordsman's question. "I am not involved in the affairs of the Avanturist Guild. I am a member of the Community Council and I have enough to do on matters of politics and government. Can you clarify your question?" "Twice in the former world, I managed to be useful to the city I lived in. The Grossroads were too dangerous places. For many centuries these places were impregnable and many citizens became prisoners of dangerous castles. I want to find a safe shelter for myself and my good acquaintances. Can I find such a place in this world?" Frowny Nose laughed an unpleasant laugh. "I hear you. Unfortunately, you will not find such a place in this world. There are a large number of very dangerous dungeons. But no place can become your domain. And in this world, death always brings the loser home to learn his lesson and regain his powers." The princess tasted the drink and began to eat the delicious food. Elina took her time asking questions and wanted to listen to the conversation between the warrior and the ruler. "In the city of Grossroads I had problems with the blacksmith guild," Dan admitted. He wanted to clarify another important area of his business. "It had to do with a special crafting technique. Do they make items in the Community with the property of permanently restoring durability?" "Of course! Our Community has many craftsmen of various disciplines. I think as a blacksmith you will be able to lead a quiet life in this place. You'll be able to learn a lot of new possibilities and get a lot of new recipes," Mouse was happy to talk about the subject of peaceful existence. Dan immediately noted that the channel of gold coin inflow had now lost its importance. On the other hand, he was excited to learn about the prospects of the profession. He looked at the princess with pleasure. The young man began to eat his meat and waited until Elina began to trouble the esteemed ruler with her pretensions to the political system. But to his surprise, Elina was in no hurry to bring chaos and anxiety to her new life. The girl was eating with appetite and when she saw the Baron's gaze she nodded to him. "Have you learned something important? No need to distract our new friend from his business. Honorable Frowny Nose, I understand Baron Raven's concern. There are unpleasant persons in the new world. I've already met one vampire who tried to humiliate me. The baron managed to distinguish himself in Grossroads and became the ruler of the new castle. He became the founder of a new clan in Grossroads and even claimed a seat on the highest governing council. I want to buy an estate. How much is an estate with the strongest protection? I do not wish to hide in the temple of the goddess," the princess said with a smile. She understood the baron's desire and also expected to have a secure safe house of her own. "I understand you well and am prepared to give you an answer to this simple question. The price of one's estate starts at seven hundred million gold coins. In his own home, any city dweller doesn't have to worry about various worries. Enemies can't give you any trouble. I'll be glad to help you in processing the deal," grunted Frowny Nose. The price impressed the young people. Dan thought that buying a house was an interesting choice. But he was in no hurry to rejoice. Why waste gold when you can get it for free? The young man did not want to appear insolent or indecent in his conversation. He didn't know how to ask about the existence of other Zangar Castle variants in other cities of the world. Perhaps vampires or elves had their versions of impregnable dungeons and were willing to offer missions. It was a delicate question. "Can I visit the city of Deepwood or Night Hill? The people of the Community have no problem visiting these places?" Dan Raven began to cautiously clarify the details. "That's a great question! Unfortunately, now you will not be able to conduct your business freely in other cities. Our Community is called the home of the rebels. Here you will see representatives of all nations who do not wish to live under the laws of vampire or elf power," Frowny Nose looked intently at the young man and confessed. "You can leave our Hill and become a resident of another city. I will not deny that it will cause a fall in reputation with the Community. And you should also know that you will not meet with understanding or respect anywhere in this world. Elves and vampires don't like competition and won't accept a newcomer from a strange nation." "Will my good acquaintances be able to visit Community Hill? They won't have a problem with that?" Raven hastened to clarify this point. "They'll have trouble anywhere but our city. Community authorities welcome guests and partners. But all troublemakers will be punished by the trusted protectors of the Community," the ruler spoke sternly and with complete confidence in the reliability of order in his city. "You should spend some time in the Community library and become familiar with the history and laws of the place." The young people realized that their new life would not be simple and pleasant fun.
