One of a kind

My name is Elsa, though I don’t look anything like the Disney Elsa, in my words I would describe myself as the ugly stepsister to her. I have shoulder length wavy brown hair, freckles all over my face that's supposed too makes me cute or something and I have mismatched eyes. One eye is hazel and the other one bright blue. I know I’m young and that I should be happy with the way I look, I am, I just don’t need to go around feeling like a supermodel or anything. But I’m getting sidetracked. I was sitting at the back of the classroom hoping to avoid being noticed, but whenever you try to avoid something it guarantees you being noticed for that exact reason. “Class, we’ve got a new student today, she just transferred here.” the teacher waved a hand at me. Everyone turned to look at me, I felt a heat my cheeks and couldn’t help but give a smile.  “Emica,” the teacher continued, “would you mind showing Elsa around the school after class?” “I’d love to.” chimed a voice next to me. I looked over. My breath was taken away. Emica was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. She was short, that was for sure, I wondered if her cheerleader uniform had to be custom made in XXS. Emica had straight silky black hair cascading over her shoulders, she had dark eyes with monolids and her heart-shaped lips were pink.  “I’ll show you all the best places, okay?” she gave me a playful wink. More in a friendly way than a flirty way. “Yeah,- thanks.” I manage. “Back to English class everyone!” As our teacher started to drool about Romeo and Juliet. “And here is the cafeteria,” Emica said. “You know what’s funny?” “What?” We headed towards the food counter. “If we were in a teen movie, you know, you and I would have been cast as bitter rivals.” Emica smiles. “Uhm-hu, what makes you say that?” We both pick up trays and start putting food on our plates.  “Well, me being head cheerleader and all and you being the new cute girl at school I should feel threatened by your arrival here.” she turns to me, “Lucky that we’re not in one of those movies, you seem nice.” “Thanks,” I smile at her “I’m also happy we’re not in one of those movies if we were then you’d make my life a living hell.” Emica laughs. “Don’t give me ideas, I might just make your life a living hell if it gets too boring around here.” she nudges my arm. I give an awkward smile back.  “Anyways, would you like to join me at this party this weekend? You know, for socializing.” Emica askes as we sit down at a table with some of the other cheerleaders. “Yeah, I’ll just have to ask my parents first.” “Oh, let me introduce you to my girls. This is Amelia.” She points at a blond girl who looks like she just stepped out of a fashion magazine. Emica introduces me to the others, Lola, Abigail, Natasha, Anna, Marcus and Valentina. Just as Emica has finished the introductions I glance at the cafeteria doors where three people looking as though they are in some kind of band. I swear if it hadn’t been in real-life Back in Black would have been playing and they would have been walking in slow motion. One of them with messy brown hair and a chiselled jawline made eye contact with me, it only lasted for a second but it feels so intense like he had seen into my soul. Can I note that everyone here seems to be incredibly attractive, talk about unrealistic expectations. Also, who knew that this small town was the place to be? “Uhm, who are-” Amelia cut me short. “That’s Veronica, Adam and Athan. They’re trouble, stay away from them.” “I will.”
