Charlotte's phone rang.
It was her high school friend
Hi Charlotte,
Hi isabella,
Isabella smiled wryly as she asked Charlotte, "How are you and your family?"
“Isabella, you know I'm not married yet, Why are you asking about my family?" Isabella chuckled, "Old habits die hard, I suppose. But seriously, I've been thinking... You've always said you prefer a middle-income earner, someone who is financially stable but not too wealthy. Don't you think that's a bit unrealistic.”
“You think I'm too rich for a middle-income earner to handle?" Isabella nodded, "Well, let's be real, Charlotte You're a wealthy woman, and that can be intimidating to some men. Don't you worry that they'll be put off by your financial status, or worse, only be interested in you for your money?"
“ I believe that if a man truly loves me, he'll accept me for who I am, wealth and all. Besides, I'm not looking for the so-called high classed people, they are always proud and arrogant, I thought it wise to learn from others' examples. Isabella nodded, "I understand where you're coming from, but it's not always that simple. What do your parents think about your preferences, by the way?"
I eavesdropped the other day and I heard my dad discussing marriage related things with Mr Martins.
I don't know who they are considering as a potential husband for me."
But I feel that's not true. Because I'm a full grown lady who is free to make her choices.
Charlotte I don't think that is impossible because since high school your parents engineered most of your decisions.
How are you doing and how is your husband treating you
"Ah, Charlotte, I'm doing okay, I guess. To be honest, marriage has been a rollercoaster ride for me. My husband, Alexandria and I have had our fair share of ups and downs.
“We were living in Los Angeles, and everything seemed perfect at first. But as time went on, I started to feel suffocated by the fast-paced lifestyle and the pressure to keep up appearances. My husband's job was also taking a toll on our relationship, and we were constantly arguing about something or other. We decided to relocate to Florida, hoping that a change of scenery would help us reconnect and start fresh. But even that hasn't been without its challenges. The move was stressful, and we had to adjust to a whole new way of life. There were times when I felt like I was losing myself in the process, like I was just going through the motions of being a wife and not really living my own life. But despite all the struggles, there have been some bright spots. The kids are fine too.
"Wait, Isabella, Charlotte interrupted, did I just hear you say kids? You're already a mother? I had no idea! Why didn't you tell me? How could you keep this from me?
Like I told you, I had a lot in my mind. But I'm so sorry about that dear. Isabella apologized
"Since you're in Florida now, what if we plan a girls' hangout? Just the two of us, catching up and having some fun in the sun. We could hit the beach, go shopping, or try out some of the local restaurants. I've heard great things about the food scene in Florida, and I'd love to try some of the fresh seafood. Or we could even plan a fun outdoor activity, like kayaking or paddle boarding. Whatever we choose, I just want to spend some quality time with you and hear all about what's been going on in your life. It's been too long since we've had a chance to hang out just the two of us, and I'm really looking forward to it. Plus, you could use a break from all the baby preparations and just relax with a friend. What do you say, are you in?” charlotte suggested.
“I'm in, but I'll have to think about it.” Isabella muttered
"Isabella, it was so great chatting with you! Take care of yourself and give those babies a hug from me. I'll talk to you soon, okay? Bye for now, and lots of love!”
Bye dear.
Charlotte laid back on her bed, her mind began to wander replaying the conversation with Isabella in her head. She couldn't believe that Isabella was already married with kids. It seemed like just yesterday they were hanging out, going to parties, and talking about their dreams and aspirations. Now, Isabella has settled down with a husband and twins. Charlotte felt a pang of surprise. She had always thought of herself and Isabella as being on the same page, but now it seemed like Isabella had moved on to a new chapter in her life. Charlotte's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her phone buzzing with a text message. She picked it up to see a message from her place of work.
Charlotte's eyes widened in panic as she realized she had lost track of time. "Oh no, oh no, oh no!" she exclaimed, jumping out of bed and rushing to get ready. She had been so caught up in the conversation with Isabella and her own thoughts that she had completely forgotten about her job. She quickly threw on some clothes, grabbed her bag, and rushed out the door, hoping that she wouldn't be too late.
Charlotte rushes into the office, slightly flustered from her late start, she's greeted with a warm smile by her friend at work Ruby.
“Hey Charlotte,how was your morning?”
“Hey Ruby, my morning was good as usual.”
“How about yours?”
Just the usual school runs.
Ruby brought two cups of freshly brewed coffee paired with donuts.
We just bagged a new client so we'll need a cooperative effort from everyone. Mr Mason interrupted.
“I'll be assigning tasks to every member of the team to achieve this new project.”
“Charlotte I'm here to inform you that you'll be leading a key aspect of the project.” He said as he stepped out of the office.
Charlotte feels a surge of excitement and motivation. She dives straight into the work, feeling focused and energized, forgetting about her conversation with Ruby.
Throughout the day, Charlotte and the team worked together seamlessly to make progress on the project.
