Blood Cursed Princess

This couldn’t be happening. I could barely breath while holding his bleeding body against mine. He was getting colder by the minute. How would this be happening ? Why was he here ? It was supposed to be a basic hunt. One ugly dumbass creature was attacking strangers at nights. The kind of job I was able to handle in my sleep. Oz and I were patrolling when we caught up the creature’s tracks. We immediately chased it. But maybe I felt to cocky and made a mistake. The creature managed to lose my partner but not me. Unfortunately, I realised to late that we were at a pub emergency exit. Too close to humans. That wasn’t good. That wasn’t good at all. I knew I needed to end up thing fast before they could be any casualties. I was in the middle of my fight when he came flying. To save me. His face was familiar. I’ve seen him around at uni. His name was Niall. He always seemed to me like a good guy. Always smiling, always helping. Was I observing him much more than I should have ? It wasn’t the point right now. The point was that he tried to play hero, not knowing what he had to deal with and that he wasn’t up for the task. I tried to warn him, I told him to run but instead of running to safety, he ran towards danger for me. I was too slow to keep him from taking the blow. I saw his body fall on the floor like I was watching the scene in slow motion. I felt my heart fall with him and the pain was crushing me as I was crying my guts out, whispering to him that everything would be okey, that I would make things right, that he didn’t have to worry. But who was I truly trying to convince here ? Not Oz who had caught up with us and was standing there, perfectly still. Not Niall who was staring at me with his big blue eyes, his skin whiter than milk. I fondled his cheek tenderly, for the first time. What will I say to Esmée ? She will be devastated. She couldn’t lose him, she had already lost too much. I didn’t want to lose him either while I realised that he never belongs to me anyway. Until tonight, I would have swear he didn’t know who the hell I was. I was wrong and soon he’ll be gone.. « I can ease his pain », offered Oz He meant put Niall out of his misery. No. No he won’t. I had to try everything ! There was still one thing that I could do. I swore long ago that i would never use that power but I couldn’t stand there and do nothing. All this was my fault. I had to fix it.. « It is going to hurt », I said, my lips against his forehead. « But I promise I’ll save you. Come what may. » Oz tensed up. He knew what I was about to do. « No, Tommie, don’t ! It’s too risky ! It’s too late for him anyway. » I looked at him with dreadful eyes. « Help me or go away, Oz. » He didn’t move. I put my attention back at the man I was holding. He would not last much longer. I reached for a knife in my belt and swiftly cut my arm with it. I groaned in pain but I had no time to pity over myself. I closed my eyes and started to call magic to me. At first, nothing moved then my blood started to advance to reach Niall’s wounded body. I started to hum, to help me control the ocean of power that was crossing my body. It almost felt as if I was drunk. Minus the ecstasy. As soon as my blood touched him. Niall’s body arched violently and it all started.
