Untamed fire

Unknown land

I take a deep breath and step through the portal. I instantly can smell the trees, grass, and flowers. The wind is is cooler than I am used to and causes me to shiver. "I should probably keep my Dragon self hidden for now until I am able to find out more about this world. I should probably mask my power as well..." I chant a small Latin spell and feel the wind whirl around me in a spiral. The leaves begin to lift and dance in the wind as my spell comes to an end. The wind calms and the sound of animals begin letting me know the spell worked. I breath heavily as I wait for my energy to return. Casting was never my strong suit and it requires more stamina compared to fighting. As I catch my breath I stand straight and begin to smell and look around for any clues as to where I have appeared. Many animals run and fly by, but I sense no danger. "Well, I might as well start walking and see what I can find." I say to myself to push me forward. I start to head towards weaving through the trees slowly. I can hear water nearby, but still a good mile off from my current position. "Water could lead me to a village or colony of some kind. It would also be nice to get a drink. Who knows when I might be this close to moving water again." I turn slightly left and continue my journey. The ground seems to be solid and able to hold my weight. Even though this form is small and delicate looking, I still weigh as much as I do in as my Dragon. I allow my mind to wonder as i continue to the sound of water. What will I find here? What beings dwell here? Could the humans have fled here instead of being destroyed? I am snapped out of my thoughts by wetness know my feet. I look down and see I have walked into the edge of a river and drenched my shoes. The base has already started to separate from the top. "Oh great, just wonderful! I really liked these heels and now I have ruined them!" I take them off in my rage and throw them deeper into the water and watch them sink. I sigh in defeat and begin to look up and down the river for signs of a community. I let my eyes shift to my Dragons to increase my visions range. Up river I see lights or fire about 6 miles away. I blink and return my eyes to normal. "Let's hope that this form is common here." I cup my hands and pick up some of the clear water from the river. I quickly take a drink and taken aback by how crisp and refreshing the water is. Our water from rivers taste nothing like this without being enchanted. Is the water here naturally this clean or is this the work of a caster? I stare at the water closely looking for any signs of a spell when I here something rustle in the distance. I continue to listen while I pretend to look busy in the river. I hear multiple sets of large feet approach. It sounds like maybe 4 beings. I allow them to think they have not yet been noticed and come closer. Once they sound a few meters away I quickly stand, turn, and take a fighting stance. I am met with with 4 large well built males in a human form, but the smell like animals. I stare them down and notice they don't think I am a threat. "Are you lost young lady? The woods aren't safe for some as delicate as you." A man with light brown hair and blue eyes says. At least they speak the same language. "I am sir. I awoke in the woods not knowing where I am or where to go." I relax my body and play into the innocent maiden they think I am. The man smiles. "You are glad we found you then. This is far from any city and wild beasts roam these woods. We can take you to our town if you like." He states. "Do you know where you come from?" Says another man. He has think long black hair and dark brown almost black eyes. I decided to play a fool. "No sir. All I know is my names Safire." I say shaking my head looking down at my skirt. The blue eyed man takes my hand and smiles at me gently. "That is fine. You will be safe with us Safire. I'm Marcus, that man with the black hair is Jacob, and the 2 blonde boys are Davis and Craig." I nod to each of them. "We will take you to our home where you can meet our town leader. He can help you more." Marcus tells me and begins to lead me towards the lights I saw earlier. I smirk to myself. That was far to easy to win their trust. For now I will continue this route until I find an opportunity to learn more. I follow them and listen to their conversation among themselves thinking I can't hear. "What are you doing dude? We have no idea who she is or what she is. She doesn't smell human or wolf." Wolf, human? What does he mean by that? Do humans exist here like I thought! What does he mean by wolf? I'm clearly no dog. "That is why I'm taking her to the Alpha. He will know more." Hmmm. I guess I should wait until I meet this Alpha to have my questions answered. We continue to walk in silence as the town begins to come into view.
