CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE Balfouriel sped through the sky like a ballistic missile, covered in flames. The demon kept spinning too, disorienting me. I couldn’t see through the flames. Fiona settled into the demon’s arms next to me. I felt her warmth. The demon’s heat was so hot and it moved so fast, it was difficult to hear. Worked for me—I didn’t exactly feel like talking to her after what she put me through. Balfouriel dipped and my stomach dropped as we spiraled down toward a giant building shaped like a T. The demon’s wings glowed as they wrapped over me. Through the wing’s speckled membranes, the lights of the city flew by in frosted glass, spinning around madly as Balfouriel turned.
