CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX All I could see was darkness. Shadows flowed past me like gentle air. The hand around my waist held me tight. I closed my eyes. Maybe Fiona had killed me and this hand was taking me to the great beyond. It wouldn’t have surprised me, but I knew what death was. Death was the cold hands of a reaper. This hand—it wasn’t a reaper. I guess it didn’t matter now. I had to go wherever it was taking me, and I didn’t have to listen to Fiona’s crazy voice for the first time in a while. Intense light shone against my eyelids, making me open them. The hand dragged me toward a blazing white corona of light in the distance. I put my hands in front of my face as it pulled me into it.
