Chapter 3: New student Arrives

Ylona POV

It was now the third day of the test and all of us are in an old arena. Alpha said that this is the place where the next challenge will happen. As all of us head there, Kiarra is here blabbering again about unimportant things

Kiarra:Today is the third day of the challenge, I'm so excited.

Ylona:Later you wouldn't say that.....

Kiarra:What do you mean by that?

Ylona:Later you will be saying "I can't do it." and also "Help me, Ylona."

Kiarra:*Pout* Such a kill joy.

I didn't bother answering her and just waited for Alpha to arrive. She said that she has an important thing to announce so we are here at the middle of the arena. Then after a few minutes, Alpha arrived in front of us.

Alpha:Hello everyone, thank you for coming here and I see your still up to the challenge, but before that, I have a little announcement to make......

She became silent for a while and then finally spoke..

Alpha:Today, we have a new student joining us, please step forward......

The person stood in in front of us and my eyes can't believe it.

Ylona:*Surprised*

I can't believe it............ It was him, the person I saw two times already, one at the beach and one at the garden. So he was a new student here, and he's participating in the game as well. But unlike last time, he doesn't wore his cloak and his cracked eye I saw days ago was hidden in a white eyepatch.

Alpha:Everyone, this is Zajian Gabrielle Norris Gairdner, the super elite rank blacksmith. I hope everyone will treat him well and welcome him warmly.

As she finished talking, he walked towards my direction. I thought at first that he wants to talk to me but he was just gonna stood beside me. As Alpha explained the mechanics of the challenge, Kiarra was busy talking to me about the new student, she keep saying that were both a match, in your dreams, just because he's also quiet like me doesn't mean we're a match already.

The game is flag finding, all we need to do is to find at least one of the five special flags, one diamond, one stone, one cloud, one water, and one flower flag. But it was hidden in one of the buildings in this old abandoned arena. If we ever find one of them, we will have additional points to the challenge. Actually, this arena is where the Holy War happened, as the history goes, after the war, the place was never rebuild again due to a special Astrein that prevents it from changing it. As we finally searched the whole arena, I luckily found the diamond flag, I kept it in a safe place so no one will steal it. While I was looking for the other two flags, I hear sounds of metal from the other side of the building, I let my curiosity lead me to the place where the sound was made.

When I now saw where the noise was, I saw Zajian fighting against another Student, it seems that they are fighting for the stone flag, I rather not step out, or else I will get into trouble, I'm not saying I'm a coward when it comes to this, I'm just being careful. As I watch them fight I saw Zajian almost aiming for the flag but the other student stopped him from doing it and attacked him, it hit is right arm but he didn't even react to it.

Student:Ha? You call yourself a challenger, your not even that strong, so why don't you just back off little kid, and let me have that flag so I can already win, your just too weak for me.....

As he was almost gonna attack Zajian, his blue eye suddenly turned red and then he unleashed his black sword. It suddenly duplicate and then swirls like a spiral, he combined the two swords and then aimed it at the person he was fighting.

Zajian:"Spiral Wave"

It successfully hit the student and then he falls down the ground, he's eye changed to its normal color, he then grabbed the flag and then left in thin air. After that I decided to leave the place but when I was gonna turn around, I saw him, pointing out his sword at my neck. I glared at him and he did the same.

Zajian/Ylona:What do you want?

We both said at the same time.

Ylona:I won't take it.

After what I said, he put down his sword and looked at me again.

Zajian:Why are you watching?

Ylona:You're too noisy, that's why I want to see where all the commotion came.

A crowd of silence echoed in the whole place but it all disappeared as he first spoke.

Zajian:Have we met before?

He asked me and suddenly the time where I saw him at the beaches rewind.

Ylona:I don't think so.......

Zajian:Are you sure?

Ylona:Positive.

He looked away and then started to walk away. But not long before he told me something......

Zajian:You should get out of here.......... This building will collapse soon....

As he said that, I looked behind to remember about the person he fought earlier....

Zajian:Don't worry....... I already took him out of the building, he's safe.

After that, he finally disappeared. I also left the building knowing that the last three is not here. Then I realized something that I saw earlier...... In Zajian's left arm, was that a watch? But it doesn't look like one........ Forget it.

I now headed to the other building to find the remaining three but I still found nothing. I search every building but I still can't find anything. As I go further, I finally saw another flag but the flag looks quite peculiar. I still went to go there but then a stroke of string appeared next to me, it only aimed for my cheek, no other fatal wounds. The person finally appeared and I saw the same girl that fought Kiarra on the second challenge. She went in front of me and then trapped me in lots of strings.

Student:Hahaha, you fell into my trap, I didn't know that your such that easy to fool.

I didn't respond but while she was focused on laughing, I left her "trap" successfully and without further notice, she finally stopped laughing.

Student:stupid girl, how dare you get out of my trap!!

Ylona:You call that a Trap? It's not even that harmful.....

I can sense anger in her eyes and then she finally spoke at me.

Student:You b*tch, don't you dare mess with me. Don't you know who I am? I am only the person who is the most skilled in string art. Don't you dare fight me, or else you will taste the scent of blood.

Ylona:Blood, sorry but I've tasted it a million times, and I'm already bored at the taste of it.

She became angry at me and start attacking me. She unleashed a thousand strings with thorns and aimed directly at me.

Student:Ahhhhh!!!!! "Rose Strike"

Before she could hit me, I already dodged it and then unleashed my scythe, I let out a huge impact on her as I slashed her x style.

Ylona:"Silent Cross"

It did hit her, but it wasn't enough. I hit her many times but it didn't work. So I separated the blade from my scythe and duplicate it, I jumped into the air while twirling. And then I stopped as I reached her face.

Ylona:"Worehole s***h"

After that fight I decided to leave but she grabbed my ankle and then tried to stand up.

Student:Y-you......W-will.....N-not get a-away with.........T-this..............

She tried to hold me but it was no use, she stumbled on the ground, while slowly turning to dust, she suddenly spoke at me while laughing.....

Student:Hahahahha, you will not get away with this.......... Izard will come back............ And he will crush you all............. Hahahah------

She turned into dust along with the fake flag. So.......Izard returns........... We'll see about that......

After leaving the building, I went to the same place were we gathered earlier and I saw all of the students are already here, some are disappointed while others are just talking. I went to a non-crowded place to lean and then looked at the students. While I was still leaning on the wall, somebody leaned next to me, it was a purple haired girl with orange eyes, she wore a black short-sleeved polo with purple blazer, blue skirt and black leggings, and blue sneakers.

Girl:Sorry to bother you, I'm just tired.........

I didn't spoked to her and just nodded at her. She didn't bother me at just continued to what she was doing, after a while, She finally called all of us and then announced that the challenge is over.

Alpha:And now that we finished the third round, let us now collect all of the flags, let's start with the cloud flag........

Then the person who introduced herself as "Annica" stepped in front of the whole class. Then after that, she congratulated her and she now has an additional 15 points.

Alpha:Next, the water flag, its a bit challenging to find this flag but this person is surely lucky.

A boy with dark blue hair and golden eyes, just like mine, stood in front of us and then gave Alpha the flag. As he looked in front and smiled at us, all the girls here squealed and keep shouting how handsome he is, good thing my eardrums didn't broke or else I would really start a bloody party here.

Alpha:Please everyone, stop shouting, this is not an award show or a theatre premiere, and he is not an artist that won an award. Some here, especially the boys are getting irritated, so please minimise your voices.

They did what she said and didn't shout out loud, instead, the just continued their fangirl business through whispering. Alpha then looked at me and smiled. I rolled my eyes and looked away. Typical........

Alpha:Next, the flower flag.

Kiarra:Oh, oh, that's me!!!!

Kiarra stepped infront and gave the flag to her aunt, then she stood next to the boy earlier. They were talking and laughing about something, I guess she already knew him. There were only two left, and I and all of you guys already know who has it............

Alpha:Next is the stone flag, whoever has it, please step forward....

Zajian Gabrielle Norris Gairdner. The way he fought earlier was pretty intense, he didn't just had an ordinary training, its more powerful. Plus, he has the Astrein of a descendant, so maybe he is the one Alpha is talking about. As he stood next Kiarra, I noticed Annica staring at him, a crush already?? Possible.

Alpha:And finally the diamond flag, please step forward.

Finally, it was my turn to go infront, I gave the flag to her and she congratulated me, but meanwhile, she whispered something in my ear.

*Alpha:Good job on hunting the geluire, additional 10 points for you.*

*Ylona:Whatever*

I whispered and then went beside Zajian. After that, Alpha once again congratulated us for finding the flag, as for the rest, they got only 5 points for still trying their best to find the flag.

We went at the school yard to have dinner, after I got my food, I went to an empty seat. As I was continuing eating, a person once again sat in front of me, but it's not Annica or Kiarra, it was Zajian. As he sat in front of me, he started eating as if nothing happened. As he was eating he noticed that I wasn't eating so he spoked....

Zajian:Don't like it?

Ylona:Why are you here?

He stayed silent for a while and then spoked......

Zajian:There's no empty seat left, so I went here.

Ylona:I see...........

I was going to say something when he suddenly interrupted me.

Zajian:Name?

Ylona:Ylona.........

He continued eating for a while but then he spoke at me.....

Zajian:What is your objective?

I looked at him and he did the same, I guess he was pretty serious about his question, but...... I don't think I can answer this.

Ylona:I don't need to answer that.....

Zajian:But I think you need to explain more.......

Zajian POV

Flashback~~~

I was still here at the building where I fought earlier. I didn't left because I still need to find another flag.

While I was looking for another flag, I heard a girl's voice coming from the other side of the wall.

Girl 1:stupid girl, how dare you get out of my trap!!

Girl 2:You call that a Trap? It's not even that harmful.....

I looked at where it came from and I saw her again. She seems to be fighting a student....... No, a geluire. As she gets angry, she shouted at her.

Geluire:You b*tch, don't you dare mess with me. Don't you know who I am? I am only the person who is the most skilled in string art. Don't you dare fight me, or else you will taste the scent of blood.

Girl:Blood, sorry but I've tasted it a million times, and I'm already bored at the taste of it.

As she started attacking her, she unleashed thousands of thorns from the air.

Geluire:Ahhhhh!!!!! "Rose Strike"

It aimed directly to the girl but she was able to dodge it quickly. Then she unleashed a scythe and then slashed it x style.

Girl:"Silent Cross"

As the geluire falls down, she still stood up and keep attacking her, then when the geluire doesn't have enough power to fight, her scythe suddenly separate and then the blade duplicates, she jump into the air and then twril like a spiral.

Girl:"Worehole s***h"

It has been an intense fight, she successfully won over the geluire. Before she could leave the place, the geluire grabbed her ankle and tried to stand up.

Geluire:Y-you......W-will.....N-not get a-away with.........T-this..............

As she finally stood up, she once again falls down and started turning to dust. I was almost gonna leave the place when I heard the geluire laughing and speaking to her.

Geluire:Hahahahha, you will not get away with this.......... Izard will come back............ And he will crush you all............. Hahahah------

Izard?? My eyes widened as I hear his name once more, its not possible, he died centuries ago, but how come he is still alive. I tried to leave but I heard another voice coming there.

Girl:Izard.......... Izard will never succeed........... Not when "the one" is here.

Then she left the building, my curiosity got out again, who is "the one" that she is talking about? Did she find out? Maybe, maybe not.......... She is pretty mysterious, I need to look more about her.....

After all that commotion, I left the building and went to the same place where we first went, this much curiosity makes me feel too lazy to find another one.

Flashback End~~~~~

Ylona:I don't need to explain because I know you already know much about me.

Zajian:But it still not enough......... Plus, you said earlier that Izard will not win, how are so sure about that?

She remained quiet for a while and then spoke.

Ylona:Because its just a hunch

Zajian:What a hunch you make.

Ylona:I'll take that as a compliment, for now.......

Zajian:Your choice..........

We became silent for a while. Not long then.... I started to ask her.

Zajian:Now tell me, who are you?

She looked at me with a hint of seriousness in her eyes, but then she looked at the food again and then finally spoke.

Ylona:I am..........

She stood up off the table and then looked at me once more.

Ylona:....... The person you don't want to know...............

Then she left the table and walk out the cafeteria. I remained silent for a while and then continued eating.

~~~Timeskip~~~

It was now 8:30 in the evening and I am here at the training facility to exercise for tomorrow. As I was weightlifting, another one came in and then joined me in training.

Boy:Who knows someone is still here training??

Zajian:I guess you didn't notice your own presence......

Boy:A bit harsh on the first day, okay I'll take it. By the way I'm Jonah Louis Aborea Riordan, What's yours?

Zajian:Zajian.........

Louis:Straight to the point........ No, I mean your full name, I didn't heard it the first time 'cause I went to the wrong arena.

Zajian:You know more than me that you didn't went to another arena, that is the only arena in Esperia..... So don't you dare lie to me...... Plus why would you ask my name when you already know it.

Louis:Fine......... By the way, why did you came just today, its so boring in here, I have no one to talk to....

Zajian:I just came home from Skaia yesterday.........

Louis:Oh, okay.... So what happened?

Zajian:Nothing much, my cousin is in Skaia for treatment along with his friend, I stayed there for two weeks and then came back here.

Louis:Wow, Rain and Railey is also there, so is Rain feeling well now?

Zajian:I guess so..........

We continued training and then took a break after an hour. By the way, me and Louis are 'friends' to be exact. We met before when we were kids but then we separated because of some reasons.

Louis:Did you find her?

Zajian:Why did you asked that?

Louis:I'm just worried, I guess. You've been looking for her for almost 5 years, are you sure she's no----

Zajian:She's not.

We became silent for a while and didn't noticed that Louis already fall asleep. I closed my eyes and then fall into a deep slumber....

After a while, I worked up seeing that I am the only person left in the room, so I went to my room to work on something. As I reached the dorm, I heard a crying sound coming from upstairs, it sounds more like a girl crying, but that's impossible because this is a boy's dormitory, so how can I hear a girl's voice? I decided to investigate about this. While going upstairs, I asked myself, "Why do I think I'm the only one that can hear this? Where are the others?" As I walked to the hallway of the second floor, the voice gets louder and louder until I reached an old abandoned room. It has a warning sign and a police tape that says 'Warning: Do not enter' I didn't mind the tape and just opened it but when I touched the handle, a stroke of electricity fussed into by body causing me to fly away and hit the wall. I admit it hurts, but I didn't stopped and tried again, then after, when I looked at the door ahead, the tape changed into a dozen of chains with a lock in the middle of it, but there is a red with a hint of black light that surrounds it. I then started to break it, this time I slowly closed my eyes and then relaxed for a while, then I focused all my Astrein in my hand then then appeared a blue shining symbol on my forehead.

As I opened my eyes, a glowing light was emerged in my hand and then casted a special Aster:

"With the Light that seals beneath my palms, I, the water god, shall break the curse, of the thousand death, and lead them not astray. Release! Aqkurain Midth!"

As I hit it directly, I stood up as the chains start to broke and then finally gave me the chance to open it without harm. As I opened the door, I saw a little girl crying, I went closely to her direction and then tapped her shoulder

Zajian:Hey, what are you----

As she looked at me directly, I widened my eyes in surprise.....

'Zia?'

I stood like that for a second but not long before she changed face, from a crying girl to a horrible monster, Sh*t...... Its a trap. At first I thought it was her, but I guess it's not. It was a geluire. When I became blank at what happened, the geluire grabbed my throat and lifted me in the air, after a split second, it pushed me on the ground with my face on its. It grabbed my throat tightly and then I started to gasped for air. I grabbed its head and started to smack it, but it was no use. It still didn't give up and continued tighting its grip on my neck. I can breathe, as I did the same to him, it also gasped for air but his grip was tighter until I started to ran out of air and then suddenly...............

~~~Crack~~~

He let go of my neck as my vision starts to blur. Blood started to fall down on my neck and my mouth, I coughed many times and tried to stand up, but I still can't stand up as my vision starts to blur, I saw the geluire happily smiled at me and then spoke the last words I heard before I became completely drowned by darkness.

Geluire:Typical Prince.................

Third Person POV

As the geluire licked Zajian's blood from its hands, he went to the door to leave. But it stopped when it felt drips of blood from it's cheek. He noticed the silver knife stuck at the door and as he looked behind, it's eyes widen.

Geluire :H-how.........

He looked surprised as he saw Zajian fully alive and well, his injury earlier was now gone and he looked like nothing happened.

Geluire:H-how is this possible!?!

Zajian:Ask yourself.......

Flaskback~~

After the Geluire licked Zajian's blood and walked away, a hint of light appeared on his forehead and then suddenly, the blood from his neck started to disappear, he opened his eyes and then teleported to the other side of the wall and then took out a silver knife, he aimed it at the geluire and it hit successfully.

Flashback End~~~

The Geluire grab a hold of Zajian's knife and started to attack him, but Zajian didn't attacked it, instead, he held the knife that was held by the geluire and now his hand is dripping blood.

Geluire:Ha......You really think that would stop me. I suggest you stop and just let me kill you, you know what happened to your family............... The Dual War.........

Zajian gritted his teeth in anger and grab a hold of the blade tightly, and as he grabbed it, it suddenly broke out. The geluire was surprised and then was even more surprised at Zajian's attack, he's attack was so fast that he couldn't even see it clearly, the geluire spit blood as he saw Zajian's hand in his chest, the blade that broke earlier hitted directly on his core. Before it falled down, Zajian spoked at it with a deadly tone.

Zajian:Don't ever.............. Talked about them................... Or else......... We might meet again in hell....

The geluire trembled in fear as it falled down and turned into dust. As you looked at Zajian's eyes, you can see his face darkened as his left eye turned to colour red and his eyepatch was scratched so you can see his cracked eye. As he left the room, the dark hallway has turned back to normal. While he was closing the door, a loud creak was heard but he didn't mind, he locked it and securely put it back the way it was.

Male:Hey!! It's so loud, shut up and be quiet over there!!!!

Zajian walked away and then headed to his room, his opened a closet to find a first aid kit, he apply medicine to it and wrap a gauge, adjusting it ensure it was comfortable for his hands to move around.

Before he went to sleep, he opened his laptop and started to do his own work, hacking.

As he hacked the school's information, he successfully opened it to reveal the names of the students, he searched for Ylona's info. After he found her name, he went to open it but it was locked with a password.

Zajian:How come this is the only Info that has a password?

He tried to hacked it a million times but still no luck, it has been an hour since he started typing and its now 10 in the evening. He couldn't think of other ways but to use his power to open the info.

His left eye turned into gold and then lots of combinations appeared in his laptop, few minutes have passed and finally, he found the formula. As he saw the password, he saved it from his storage and locked it for security. As he look down on her info, he read all the information about her:
