The Alpha

12:15 am Redmoon pack Alpha office "I am afraid, Alpha, I bring along bad news." The gamma of the pack says, making Alpha Logan drop the quill on the sheet of paper. Sitting back, he gives the gamma his undivided attention. "Speak" His voice was cold and domineering, making the gamma shudder slightly. "The attack on the Silvermoon pack was a failure." The Alpha raises a brow at him, surprised by the news. Not expecting it. "What happened? Get me the Beta." The gamma shifts his feet in anxiousness. How was he supposed to tell him this? "Alpha Logan..I am afraid..we had it covered. The women and kids were captured, and even the late Alpha's daughter agreed. But then we lost the mind link; when we returned along with the backup, everyone was found dead. Including Beta Ron" Alpha Logan stared at the gamma in silence. Nothing was evident on his face except the cold look he always has. The gamma strains to continue. "Beta's throat was slit with a knife, and all others have died with the same knife. We suspect th-" Logan lifts his hand, making the gamma shut his trap. With hands behind his back and eyes lowered, the gamma gulped. "Were my instructions not clear?" Ben , the Gamma, knew what this was about. Beta Ron was a cunning bast***. He never followed the instructions clearly, which made him accountable to the Alpha. Bem was relieved to some extent that Ron was dead. He remained silent, and that's when Alpha Logan roared at him. Unveiling a glimpse of his well-tamed anger. "One task. I give you guys one simple task: to negotiate with that woman and acquire her territory. And you couldn't do it!" "And what's with this enslavement? Did I order you to e*****e the women and children? Wasn't it clear when I said I don't want weak women and children brought back here in my pack!" "They were to be asked to leave the territory! Killed if refused or turned rogues, I don't care. But what's this bullshit of capturing them!" Ben gulps. Alpha Logan has a deep-rooted hatred for the weak.No. No females other than mates of the pack members were allowed to enter their pack. And this rule has not changed in years, making their pack the strongest in the world. "I am sorry, Alpha Logan. My apologies. But it was Beta Ron's order." Logan bangs his fist on the table, getting up from his seat. "That bast***! He always had to double-cross me. If it weren't his father's contribution to this pack, I would have killed him. Anyways, how many men have we lost ?" "72 in total, Alpha. All dead, no survivors." Logan nods, picking up his tuxedo from behind his seat. "The women were involved, so I suspect it was him again. The way he killed them? It is his style of killing Alpha." "The Rebel?" Logan asks, intrigued. "I am afraid, but yes, Alpha. The Rebel was their savior." Logan looked in deep thought. This was Rebel's first involvement in his business, the first time they crossed paths. Being a top member of the council, he has heard a lot about him. But as they say, no one has seen him. He wanted the Silvermoon pack territory at any cost to achieve the golden seat in the council. His goal of challenging the Alpha King's title is very close now. He has to negotiate with the females if it has to come to this. And he was willing to do it. He wants that seat at any cost. "Make arrangements, Ben; we leave for Silvermoon tonight. Inform them of our arrival." The gamma stared at him in shock. He never meets people personally, especially women. What changed this time? "But Alpha..are you sure? They may not be willing to negotiate after what happened. Also, we don't have a Beta now; who will take the second command?" Logan stops at the threshold, staring back at him. "Don't ever question me, Ben. And as far as the beta position is concerned." "You are the new Beta of the Red Moon pack." Ben looks at him, gobsmacked. Not able to believe this is real. He thought the Alpha hated him, but then again, the Alpha hates almost everyone with passion, or this is what everyone thinks of him. "Yes, Alpha. Understood. Thank you!" He says, bowing, and with one last glance at him, Logan is gone. Ben sighs in relief, cleaning the drops of sweat gathered on his forehead. The females better agree to his terms tomorrow, or god knows what will happen if he unleashes his beast. If Alpha Logan was scary, his wolf form was death itself. As, after all, he was not an ordinary wolf. He was a pure-blood Lycan , who lived on only two things. Power and respect. ............................................ "You can't leave us now!" Rosie pleads, looking at Vera in despondence and incredulity. She helped them till now, but she can't leave them in between. "See, girl, I made it clear beforehand. I save you and leave.' "But Vera! The Alpha is visiting! He is a member of the council; he will in no way let us win over this! We have killed his Beta and warriors, for god sake! How will we justify ourselves? You have to save us from this! Please!" Vera sighs and rolls her eyes, doubting her decision to help them and get involved in this mess in the first place. "What can I do?" Rosie pulls out a seat and makes her sit on it. Holding her hands in her, she nearly pleads with her. "I want you to be the Alpha of this pack! We owe our lives to you, Vera, and you deserve this position!" Vera pulls her hand from under her grip, looking at her in disbelief. The idea itself is repulsive to her. With packs come duties and responsibilities. And Vera preferred being alone and free-willed. She can't agree with this. "Please, Vera. You have it in you! You can be the first female Alpha. Plus, we all will be respected and protected under you! Please!" Vera gets up from her seat, ready to leave while Rosie trails after her. " Vera please-" Vera stepped outside only to have her footsteps halt. Women and children in hundreds encircled the place. They were bowing their heads for her. Acknowledging her help and thanking her for saving their lives. "Alpha Vera! Alpha Vera! " They started exclaiming in unison, and Vera looked back at Rosie in disbelief. Rosie has mind-linked them. If this was not enough, little Amelia hugged her from behind. Stopping her from taking another step. "Please. Don't leave us to die!" And that was the last straw. Vera may look heartless, but her heart does beat to protect the weak and helpless. Picking up Amelia in her arms, she smiles at her and turns towards everyone. "I agree" Cheers and cries of happiness surround her as people rejoice in their safety if not victory. Rosie comes to hug her, too happy to stop herself. Rosie takes Amelia in and looks at her savior in admiration. "Vera! I mean Alpha! I am so happy, I can't tell-" Vera stops her. Her next words make silence follow. "But I have a condition." Rosie looked anxious but still nodded. She was ready to do anything for Vera to agree to this. "No one is to know that I am the Rebel Rosie. Only you know." Rosie nods , understanding her reasons. No one in their imaginations would have thought that Rebel would be a girl. Women are considered weak and dependent. Until someone like Vera comes, breaking this stereotype and challenging the inflated egos of these high-headed men. Plus, Alpha Logan is a council member, and Rebel is a most wanted criminal. No way in hell will she let them find out that this girl in front of her was the only figure of equality in this biased world, the only hope of women in this male-dominated world. Their saviour The Rebel .................................................
