{Anna's P.O.V} I don't know what the hell James is thinking anymore, we can't just let everything we built go to waste, we can't afford to lose our daughter to what might come. She was never meant to be like this, our Goddess was playing some sick and twisted joke, I swear. "How do you expect her to understand any of this? we've kept her hidden from the outside world for so long!" I screamed at James. James looked at me "I don't know Anna, she's an adult now, she can make her own decisions. She asked us if she could meet new people, outside of our home and we can't exactly stop her. We can only prepare her for what might happen" he said rubbing his temple. I could see the hurt in his eyes, he's just as worried as I am, that everything we've built could come crumbling down around us. "James we have never let her embrace who she really is, who knows what could happen in that world" I said, worried for the future. "I understand that you're worried and I am too, trust me. That's why we have to let her become who she is meant to be before we can introduce her to the world. We can't hold her captive" James said sternly. DID I SAY WE WERE GOING TO HOLD HER CAPTIVE!? NO. NO I DIDN'T. I'm just worried, way to make us sound terrible. I got up from the table and began pacing "James, no one outside this home knows of her, our own pack doesn't know of her. How do we explain this to people? Explain that she's not exactly like us, that she is more than any of us could ever be!?" I said throwing my arms up. "Anna, calm down. Renee will be awake any minute and we don't need her coming in to you yelling, we have to handle this gracefully." James said in a hushed tone. There was a creek and the door opened, Renee had heard it all, SHE HEARD US. Renee looked us "Mom, Dad what are you guys talking about?" James looked at me, knowing exactly what she was asking about. I stuttered out some words but couldn't get it out. "I have a right to know, I'm 18, I'm meant to take over this pack" Anna said looking at us both. James looked at Renee again and let out a sigh "We have a lot of discuss Renee and I want to apologize now for us not telling you sooner, we didn't want anything bad to happen" he looked at Renee apologetically. I left, I just walked out. I can't deal with this. I know from reading books written by our elders that most eldest children take over once they find their mates and since I'm their only child, it's my right.. right? Anna took that as her que to leave, I just looked at my dad, wondering what he meant, wondering what there was to discuss. "Renee, we knew from the beginning that you were different. People like you, that are different the way you are, they're normally taken from their parents at a young age to train their abilities. We kept your identity a secret because we didn't want to lose you" Abilities? Different? I've known that I'm a bit "off" for some time but this honestly just sounds like a joke. "Dad, what do you mean? Abilities? what kind of abilities?" I said, with a questioning look towards him. "Renee, I'll have to explain as we train your abilities and once you can control them, you have to promise that once we let your roam, you won't tell anyone of these abilities, that includes your mate" James said while laying some books on his desk. My mate? I don't even know who that is, so why is he bringing them up? "What's with the books?" I ask as I'm reading the covers. "I know you've been studying our kind for years and I took it upon myself to hide these books away until you were 18 so you wouldn't learn what you were and where you'd be sent off to" James said as he continued to go through his desk. "There are a lot of things you might know about yourself but not to the extent that I know and we need to get you knowing everything, you need to read all of these books, every chapter, every sentence, every word. This will tell you what would've happened to you and what will happen if anyone knows of you and your abilities, okay?" This isn't making any sense to me. I love reading so it won't take me long to finish the books but he's only explaining the bare minimum and it's passing me off. "Renee; do you understand?" James asked, looking at me. "I guess? I'm just a little lost" I looked at him. "I know you are but you need to read these books, when you're done come talk to me, I have something else I need you to look at but it won't make any sense unless you finish reading these books." James said while gesturing the books on his desk "I've kept careful record of everything you've exhibited over the years to help when this time would come. Your mother and I took a lot of precautions to make sure you wouldn't use your abilities or be given a reason to so we could keep you hidden." he rubbed his temple. "We even kept you hidden from our pack, which is our own fault because it potentially kept you from meeting your mate and I apologize for that dear" he said with a crack in his voice. He looks so broken saying those words, I believe that whatever they did, they did because of their love for me and their want to keep me safe. I picked up the books and looked at him "Dad, you don't have to apologize. I believe as a father you did what you had to do to protect me." I hugged him with my free arm. "I'll get to reading these books" I took the books to my room, I looked at the four books while reading the covers again "Elemental beings" : "Primordials" : "Mind games" : "Where to/How to" I didn't even know what to start with but I feel for some reason, where to/how to is the one I should read first, dad did say that I would've been taken away so maybe that's the ~where to~ part of it? I don't know, I'll just get started.. "I hope this doesn't take too long" I said to myself. ****
