I looked at my phone one more time this morning. This was going to be the last time I would look at it.
You've said that like twenty times already
I could imagine my inner goddess face palming her self. She shouldn't blame me, I was just waiting for a call.
It'd been a week since I pulled that crazy stunt at my parents house, none of them had contacted me since then.
On one hand I was glad about that because I wasn't ready to answer to any of them. On the other hand, I needed money and I wanted them to call me so that I could just swallow my pride, say I'm sorry and then get my monthly allowance.
Swallowing my pride was already enough to hurt my ego. I couldn't be the one to call, so that at least I would have a little pride left.
Jhay had been an absolute gentleman about Amara's car. He'd dropped it by in the afternoon of the next day.
I looked at the phone again. Urghhh!!
I hated this. Money, why do we always need money? One day I'm going to grow up and make so much money that I wouldn't need anyone's help. Not even the slightest bit.
The sound of a phone ringing made me turn and scowl at Amara's phone. If only looks could make things explode.
Amara gave me a sympathetic look. She was sitting across me on our reading table. Wait, why were we seated her, when we could be gossiping about anything and everything?
Test. We had a test tomorrow.
I blocked my brain out from the thoughts of money and began reviewing my notes.
I couldn't fail this lecturer's course. That would be a suicidal mission.
The last thing I wanted was a carryover especially in my final year.
Amara dropped her phone on the table loudly.
I wasn't going to ask her what's wrong.
We agreed no talking for the next one hour.
"Son of a b***h!"
She cursed loudly. I looked at her then returned back to my book.
This seemed to anger her more as she kicked me from under the table.
"What is it Now?"
I whined finally giving my attention to her.
Big baby.
"I'm going home this weekend. My mom said she misses me"
I blinked.
This girl have got to be shitting me.
"So? Why are you rubbing it in my face?"
"Because I want to"
Was her single reply as she stood up and smiled triumphantly.
I looked down at my book again. I was understanding. If I stood up from here that would be the end of my reading, chapter closed.
I heard amara grumble about having a craving for burger and suya (dried meat).
She asked me if I would like anything and the moment I said no, she was out of the door.
I read for an extra one hour before closing my book and offering a quick prayer to God to help me out, both in the test and also with my money issues.
Cascada's voice of every time we touch made me do a happy squeal before I looked down and saw who was calling me.
My face and hope immediately fell at that instance.
"Yes?" I hissed to Amara who was on the other end of the line.
"Calm your tities girl, I just called to tell you that I won't be coming home tonight."
I nodded but then remembered that she couldn't see me.
"Where are you sleeping over at?"
"My cousin's, onyi"
Onyi was Amara's cousin that was just given admission into the university. She was studying medical laboratory science.
"Okay, just come back early tomorrow. You know we have that wicked man's test"
"mmh, goodnight baby girl"
I snorted at her ridiculous nickname and hung up.
My phone rang again.
"b***h, what's your problem"
I snapped.
Someone coughed and I immediately knew it wasn't My bestfriend on the line.
"Hello" I corrected already embarrassed.
"Someone's having a bad day" Jhay said easily. I'm sure he had a smile on his face right now.
Don't blame me, I could already identify his voice even in my sleep.
"Jhay I'm sorry, I thought it was Amara that was calling"
"I hope you're not disappointed that I'm the one that called, not her."
I sighed.
"Nah, not at all"
but I'm disappointed that it's you that called and not my mom or dad.
"So...."he drawled out
"Had dinner yet?"
I stood up from my chair and began my stride to the kitchen.
"Noo" I groaned the moment I entered the kitchen. No wonder Amara suddenly remembered that she was craving Burger.
"I just had the most delicious rice and stew, it's a shame you couldn't join me"
"Shut up" I spat suddenly feeling comfortable with him. I searched the kitchen, hoping that something would pop out.
Still nothing.
He chuckled then quickly coughed to cover it up.
"On a scale of one to ten, how hungry are you?"
Looking at the kitchen and feeling the rumbling of my stomach, I chose a number.
"Fifty one"
He made a sound as though he was thinking. I was standing by the stove and chewing on some random biscuit I found in the empty kitchen.
"I'm around your school right now, I could be your personal delivery man."
Interesting.
"I like that, and can I know what's on your menu?"
He didnt take a second to answer. Looks like he had planned this out already.
"Anything you desire."
"Anything?"
"Anything" he confirmed.
I threw the wrapper of the biscuit on the floor and reached for a glass of water.
Flirting would be interesting.
"Did anybody ever tell you that my best flavour is chocolate, creamy chocolate. Maybe I could even get you as an extra icing of chocolate for desert."
I bit my lip as I waited for his reply.
"I'll be chocolate man just for you, only you"
His attempt at flirting back failed and turned out funny. I let out an easy laughter and I heard him laughing too.
"Do you always fail in your attempts of being flirty? "
The question was out before I could rethink about asking it.
His voice was low, hoarse, manly. I knew I wasn't going to forget the next words that came out of his mouth ever in my life as he said.
"I never fail and I can do a lot more than flirt over the phone."

The last piece of pizza was staring me right in the face. Well it was also staring at Jhay.
I looked at him, this would be war. Nobody took the last piece of food except for me.
I could kill for the last piece of pizza, last meat in the food, last fish in the soup, even the last stick of biscuit
"You can have it"
He said biting back a laugh. I smirked, always successful.
Rule number one: I get the last piece of food, every type of food.
You know when you think you don't have a competition again and you just take your time, in all glory to do something. Then someone surprises you and just steals your moment.
That was exactly what Jhay did. He grabbed the last slice of pizza, that was mine. He was my special delivery boy. Who gave him permission to dine with me?
I did.
I'm so stupid.
"What did you just do?"
I stated with pure fake anger. He just drew the battle line.
I looked at him, his eyes shone with amusement as he looked at me. He scratched the bridge of his perfect nose.
Let me not even start with the lips.
His kissable lips were stained with some sauce probably from the pizza and a little portion of the very last slice of pizza started at me still stuck out, tempting me.
Eyes on the prize girl, eyes on the prize.
He pointed to the pizza that was held in his mouth and gave me a 'come and get it' sign with his hands.
"What?, you want me to take it from your mouth?"
He nodded like it wasn't a big deal. His eyes dared me. I always get the last piece no matter what.
Screw it!
In a heart beat I leaned in and took that bite of pizza our lips meeting for a slight nano second.
My eyes portrayed victory. Head high as I chewed my price.
Jhay had on more of a shocked and surprised look.
Rule number two: never underestimate me.
"Nobody takes the last piece of food when eating with me"
