Was My Life A Lie?

I sit on the swings that were once occupied by happiness and laughter. All that is gone now. A tear rolls down my cheek. Now my days are filled with sadness and anger. Why did I not insist on him staying? Why did they give up on him? Why couldn’t they keep looking? 10 years ago, there were two friends. The best of friends as they believed. They had been friends since they were three. They were playing on the swings as normal when Maddie got a text from her mom saying she had to come home. “Sam my mom just texted me that I have to go home,” Maddie said sadness lingering in her voice. “I’ll walk you home,” Sam said “But…” “No buts. I’m walking you home Mads.” When they reached Maddy’s house It had become pitch blackout Maddie was glad Sam insisted on bringing her home for she would have been so scared. “You should stay over tonight my parents wouldn’t mind I’m sure, ” said Maddie probably thinking of everything that could go wrong in the dark. “No, I’m fine. I only live a few blocks away from your house,” reassured Sam “Yea, but it is pitch black outside. How are you even going to be able to see?” Maddie said still worried “I’ll be fine don’t worry about me. I’ve made this walk over a thousand times and nothing has happened.” “Yea but then it wasn’t pitch black.” “I’ll be fine, see you tomorrow?” Maddie sighed knowing she wouldn’t she wasn’t going to be able to convince Sam. “Yea see you tomorrow at our usual spot?” “Always, bye Mads” (⊃｡•́‿•̀｡)⊃(ᗒᗣᗕ)՞
