"But why?" I asked, looking back at my recent interactions with him, wondering if I had done something to hurt him. Alec looked at me the same way he does whenever I blame myself for something out of my reach. Jaden’s lips remained pursed and no sound came from them. They twisted once more and a reddish shade formed on the pale cheeks above them.
“Look, kid, I know you are not the type to do this kind of thing. You are one of my top students, you sit out there quietly studying after school and if I’m not mistaken, you are part of that tiny volunteering club.”
Alec’s eyes softened as they tried to grasp Jaden’s avoiding gaze. My head tilted towards Alec as I stood there quietly. I was surprised to see how attentive he was of his students, despite his cold and indifferent attitude.
