The werewolf, The Vampire, and The Mate

New beginnings

I’m panicking the only thing keeping me going are my instincts to stay alive and needing to keep my promise to my dad no matter what as long as I stay alive, he will find me. Even if these chains are making it harder and harder, I refuse to die. After a while of being breathless I noticed the vampire’s scent aren’t around me, I can’t help but worry about Ben I’m tempted to go back and have him runaway with me he can be Protected by my pack but then what about his family I don’t think my dad would be okay with a family of vampires hanging around… after what Ben told me about the Elders I wonder if he’ll be okay... I hope whoever the Elders are they never find out about what Ben did for me. If what Ben told me about Jace is true they’d probably do something worse than kill him... After an eternity of wandering around aimlessly, I can finally see my packs border below the hilltop the sight before me is almost euphoric to say the least. A beautiful field of sunflowers covered the hill with a sunset only the moon goddess herself designed as the clouds kissed the sky with different shades of fluorescent pinks and shimmering golds. I stopped running to take in the beautiful view as I carefully walked down the hillside, I admire the flowers before me. I get why mom loved these flowers so much they look like mini suns the more I looked the more joy I felt. I let go of my chains and walked thru the field of a thousand suns careful not to damage them since they are very delicate. Once I got to the edge of the meadow, I cut a few sunflowers I smile holding back tears as I whispered to myself “Mom I finally got your flowers...” I close my eyes as the smell of the open meadow and sunflowers relaxed me, I take a deep breath as memories of my mom start invading my thoughts, I quietly cry. I miss her so much wishing she would have held me again just one more time. I miss how she would squish my face when I was sad or how her laugh would just make everyone laugh too, the way she would spin hug me till I wanted to puke my guts and then I would beg her to spin me some more. Most of all I miss her scent of vanilla and cinnamon around the house it just feels so empty in the pack house without it. As I am lost in my thoughts, I could almost feel her touch on my cheek as I whisper, “I miss you mom”. I open my eyes as I felt someone wiping a tear away. Before I could scream the little girl from earlier covered my mouth and with dead eyes said, “Don’t scream. I just want to get these chains off you before you go home.  No worries, I wasn’t followed, and the Elders know better than to make me angry.” I looked at her with one eyebrow raised she must be crazy and why would the Elders listen to her what makes her so special? I tried to make a run for it no f*****g way am I trusting a pureblood vampire. She quickly dropped me to the ground and grabbed my arm as she twisted it behind my back I tried to get free but she scoffed “Seriously you’d rather run and risk breaking your arm than get help from me that kinda hurts my feelings. I aint that bad wolfie!” I squirm around as I let out a low growl “My name’s not wolfie and I aint stupid either! I’ve heard what you do to werewolves I might be a kid but I know enough not to trust every vampire I see.” I try to get out of her grip but I’m too weak and exhausted from earlier to really fight back. I let out a louder growl as I yelled “Let me go, or I’ll make sure my dad kills you!” she looked at me skeptically and let out a heavy sigh as she gently let go of my arm and whispered “We’re not all bad you know…Some of us know werewolves aren’t bad either… I’ve met my fair share of bad people to know the difference.” I grunted as I grabbed my arm and got a good look at her I hate her eyes the red color is so creepy and awkward her eyes were empty like a ragdoll. It doesn’t help that I start to see her skin burn a bit from the daylight that was left but she didn’t wince or cry it’s like she couldn’t feel it happening. She looked back at me with a small smile as she showed me the set of silver keys in her hand and with a tender voice, she said “Please I just want to help I promise after that you’ll never have to see me again.” I pout as I put out my wrists waiting to regret my decision, I felt a little more at ease as I noticed how careful she was being making sure she didn’t tug needlessly at the chains around my waist. Even when she got the chains off wrists and ankles, I didn’t feel anything but a pinch. Instantly after getting the chains off my body starts to heal quicker than expected my breathing is becoming easier and my skin is almost healed without leaving any unwanted marks. I think its thanks to my Alpha blood that I’m healing so quick even my ribs feel like they aren’t gouging at my lungs anymore. I could feel myself getting stronger and gaining my energy I looked at the girl with a smile, the most I could do is say thank you right? “Thanks for the help what’s your name?” the little girl’s eyes shined while she looked at me with a big smile even though the burns on her skin worsened to the point, they made me wince for her she replied “Pain.” I knew it of course that would hurt I sigh and reach out for her hand “Oh sorry I should take you back to the shade then, you don’t wanna get more sunburned.” She just looked at me confused for some reason so I just grabbed her arm while she laughed “Pain is my name you dope, and no worries the sun’s almost gone down so don’t worry it looks worse than what it is I’ll heal as soon as I get some shade. We should get you out of here before the Elders come.” She starts pushing me towards home I clumsily dropped my flowers “Wait! I can’t leave without my mom’s flowers!” I pick up my bouquet of sunflowers and she looks at me with a smile “Alright you got the flowers now let’s go! I’m not supposed to be out here too long but Ben was out on duty, so I wanted to find him so he could play with me... Then I ran into Jace and he explained everything he even gave me the keys after I scolded him, I swear he hasn’t been in the right state of mind lately but no one tells me anything not even my dad will tell me what’s wrong with him I swear it’s like no one trusts me anymore… anyway I sent Jace home and I told Ben I’d talk to my father I’ll make sure nothing happens to them they are my friends I don’t want anything happening to them I swear they’d be in trouble without me.” I couldn’t help but ask “Why aren’t you scared? Aren’t you gonna get in trouble for helping me? I mean I am a werewolf you know.” she shook her head “Not if your gone by the time the Elders get here. Besides I’m too rare to get severely punished by them and it just so happens that the elders are all my blood relatives so I’m kinda hoping they’ll let it all slide since I’m still a kid and their favorite niece.” Pain uses her fingers as air quotes “I pretend I don’t know better” I look at her skeptical as I asked, “Do they do that for all pure bloods?” “Nope just me two reasons number one my dad is the head elder so as long as nobody gets hurt, I’ll be alright and reason number two is kind of the most important I’m one of the few female purebloods left so that means when I get older, I can make pureblooded baby vampires and I can theoretically turn humans into vampires. Other vampires can’t do that only the pureblooded girls can. It’s supposed to be a secret but I don’t really see a point in hiding it since it’s kind of obvious with the way the worship the pureblooded woman… They take it too far though.” I looked at her confused “That’s kind of weird so are they gonna force you to have a bunch of babies or make you turn humans?” she looked at me with a smile “I don’t know but I’m not worried about it yet I’m fairly sure by the time I’m of age I’ll have already changed a few things so I’m not scared of that. Not to brag or anything I’m kind of a prodigy I just play dumb so I can get the Elders trust and make them think they don’t have to worry about me causing trouble.” I laugh “Well then I guess I don’t have to worry about you seems like you got everything figured out Pain” I feel a slight relief but I can’t help myself from worrying about this girl I hope she’ll be alright I wouldn’t want her to be forced into that type of life. I look at her as I try to push these thoughts out of my head “Thanks for helping me Pain.” “Yeah, no problem uhhh…” “Namine my name’s Namine.” She looked at me surprised “Namine… that’s… a pretty name.” I look at her skeptical “Thanks, umm Pain I know we just met but do you think you could bring me a sunflower on the next full moon, I could trade you some snacks I promise I won’t make them I’m not the best cook. It’s just sunflowers are my mom’s favorite and- “she put her hand to my mouth and looked at me with a big smile “I’ll meet you at the border every month on the full moon with a bouquet of sunflowers.” I can’t believe this a pureblooded vampire that isn’t as bad as I thought, and I even feel grateful. It’s weird I really didn’t think she’d agreed to it so easily I mean what’s she got to gain in helping me. Pain looked at me with a smile and pointed towards my territory “You’d better hurry back I don’t think your Alpha would appreciate finding you here with me.” I nodded and ran back home I quickly jumped into the lake nearby to get rid of the vampire scent. I snuck into the pack house’s laundry room and snagged a different set of clothes. As I was walking out to the trash bin with my bag of ruined clothes I felt myself crashing into someone. “Ugh…” I’m rubbing my head I heard Matt shout “Nami!” I look and see Matt rubbing his chest where my head hit him “Hey where have you been your dad is going crazy looking for you and why’s your hair all wet Nami!? If you were going for a swim you should have told me… Wait you cant swim! What happened!?” I look at him as I make sure to hide my bag behind me “I do too know how to swim I- I’ve been taking secret lessons! I went swimming in the lake an-““Liar! I went to the lake you weren’t there and what’s with the bag!? Don’t lie to me Nami!” I covered his mouth and looked at him sincerely “Okay. Okay I wasn’t at the lake but if I tell you what happened promise not to say anything?” Matt thought about it and nodded “I promise” After I explained everything he looked at me like if I had grown two heads “Why’d you make me promise? I know we’re best friends but we have to tell our dad’s this you almost died!” I covered his mouth “Shhhh! Look I know it seems crazy but you just have to trust me if not as my best friend then as my future Beta please keep this a secret. Who knows maybe this vampire is gonna help us change things. Wouldn’t it be nice not to have to worry about a vampire attack?” He thought about it for a while and finally nodded his head and pulled me into a hug “Fine. Just promise me you’ll be careful I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you.” I hugged Matt and nuzzled my face in the crook of his neck “Promise.” I always loved Matts hugs the best he was always so warm and I just feel so safe then I felt someone pulling us apart “What are you two doing?” I look up and see it’s Beta Xavier (Matt’s dad) I feel my cheeks get hot and I look away embarrassed how long were we hugging for it felt like it was just a couple seconds? I look over to Matt and he’s blushing like a tomato looking at his dad trying not to break eye contact “I-I found her in the cabin by the lake and I-I-I had a tough time dragging her here to take her to Alpha Peter b-but she started to look sick, so I gave her a h-hug to see if she had a fever or something s-sh-she feels fine though dad.” Beta Xavier tried his best to cover up his laugh as his eyes went hazy, he must be mind linking my dad after what felt like forever, he looked at both of us with a kind smile and softly spoke to me “Namine you should go home now your dad’s been looking for you. I told him your on your way to him now. Next time you go somewhere please take someone with you sweetie we were worried sick.” I nod “I’m sorry Beta Xavier I’ll be more careful.” I quickly start my walk home after I was out of Beta Xavier’s view I got rid of the bag with my messed up clothes. When I got home my dad scolded me for a bit and then gave me the “Mates talk” for some weird reason. I told Matt about it and he said his dad took him out for some food and ice cream even said to stay away from my dad for bit not sure why Beta Xavier said that to Matt but I didn’t ask questions I was just lucky I didn’t get caught.
