(Holden’s Point of View)
I’d been able to escape Erika’s desperate advances in order to search out the woman I'd seen earlier. Watching her lips turn up into that smile nearly bordered on the same level of pleasure as sinking my teeth into a willing neck. I had to find her. I could never recall seeing a human who’d had such an effect on me, even back when I myself was one.
As I slinked around the corners of the rooftop, scanning for her, I locked in on the back of Erika’s head and her long blonde ponytail. I quickly glanced away to another area, but her conversation caught my ear.
“I was invited tonight.” She said boastfully. If I lost that girl tonight because of Erika’s actions earlier, I might have to snap the neck of whatever moron extended that invitation.
“How’d you get an invite? Did you offer to give the coordinator a blow job?” I recognized that voice. It belonged to the redhead who was speaking with Frank and my mystery girl earlier. I paid closer attention.
“I thought about it but I changed my mind considering he’s still healing from the toothy BJ you gave him.” Ugh, sometimes I wondered if Erika was aware of how tacky she really was. The redhead walked off angrily. I watched as she headed toward the coordinator who was relaxing on a large round lounge chair with a nineteen and a twenty-year-old cuddled up to him.
“So what’s your name?” I heard Erika’s voice say. I turned my head back in her direction and was thrilled to see HER. The woman I had been searching for. She hadn’t left…but I had to get Erika to f**k off. I glanced over to my right and saw a seventy-year-old retired judge holding hands and walking back to the elevator with a young Korean woman. I briskly intercepted him.
“Give me your hotel room key,” I said to him. The woman looked between the two of us confused. The old man looked surprised.
“But it’s my room key,” He said, hopelessly.
“You can get another room.” I kept eye contact as the trance took hold.
“I can get another room.” He handed me his key. I patted him on the shoulder.
“Trust me, I’m going to need this more than you,” I said. I walked over to Erika. She needed to be removed.
“Nadia, love, I seem to have had a change of heart.” She spun around.
“Holden.” The way she said my name reminded me of back when she was just a sweet and innocent young woman. Before she became this annoying thing.
“I think it has been a long while since I quenched my thirst, and I’d like to explore your offer,” I said, knowing that her desperation had made her much more gullible to my charms. I didn’t even need to compel her.
I handed her the room key with the number written on it and she immediately disappeared into the elevator. When I looked back, I was pleased to find the unique creature I'd sought out all night still in my presence. A part of me thought she had only been an apparition, who might only appear to me in glimpses, but here she was, sitting in front of me, staring up at me with her large brown eyes.
“May I get you a glass of wine?” I asked her.
“She’s waiting for you.” Her response surprised me. Most of the women here wouldn’t dream of passing up a potential sugar daddy simply because he was screwing other women. I sat down across from her.
“She is, and wherever she is waiting, she will stay...forever..” I could only wish.
Her cheeks lifted up as she revealed that exemplary smile. Just two hits and I was addicted. She laughed, her merriment in my distaste for Erika sent a shiver of excitement through me.
“What’s your name?” I asked her, “Your real name.” I didn’t want some alias.
“Charlotte,” she said, It suited her.
“That’s a beautiful and classic name, Charlotte.” her cheeks were set ablaze by the sudden rush of blood to her face.
“It makes most people think of spiders. You know, because of the book, Charlotte’s Web.” All the name would ever mean to me was the woman I had the most extraordinary interaction with. I didn't quite know what to say, but I felt my face contort into a smile as I said the most ridiculous thing I'd probably ever said in 200 years.
“I love spiders”.
Out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of danger. All I wanted was to continue to stare into those brown eyes and learn all I could about this woman, but if I didn’t leave immediately things might turn bad for both of us, I took her hand.
“I hope to see you again, Charlotte.” I then swiftly made my escape.
(Charlottes Point of View)
As soon as Holden let go of my hand, it was like he vanished. I didn’t see him walk away. He just stood up and was gone. I couldn’t help but feel incredibly disappointed. The first man I meet that I’m actually interested in and he only sticks around for 5 seconds. Maybe he was just playing a game and was in some room banging that Nadia…Erika…whatever her name was.
“Oh good, it looks like Erika went home.” Ali walked up from behind me.
“Huh?” I said, pulled out of my thoughts. “She’s in one of the rooms.”
“Whatever, I’d rather her be getting railed somewhere than still here.” I was wishing quite the opposite. “The coordinator refused to kick her out. He said her actions didn’t merit total banishment, and he felt her ‘time out’ was long enough.”
“'Scuse me.” Ali and I both turned to see the man who was speaking. He had grey hair that was long enough to graze his shoulders, he looked like he had not shaved in a few days. His voice was low under his Irish accent. A brown coat hung around him, while underneath he was dressed in all black. “I wanted to speak to yer' about the woman you reported.” He said to Ali.
“Are you a coordinator?” Ali asked suspiciously.
“Yes, I’m new with the company.” He said, “The woman you reported, could you point 'er out to me? I’ll have 'er removed from the premises.”
“Oh, that’s really great.” Ali sighed in relief. “But there’s no need, it seems she left of her own accord.” The man inhaled.
“Well, is there any information you have about 'er? Name, phone number, address? If we know who she is we can make sure she doesn’t get invited back again.”
“Her name is Erika Gordon, but she goes by Nadia. I don’t have any other personal information. I’m sure she’s in ya’ll’s system so you can look her up.” Ali said before grabbing my hand. “It actually is getting late, so we are headed out.”
“Have a good night. I’ll see to it we have 'er removed from our lists.” He said.
“Thank you,” Ali responded as we made our way back to the elevator.
As soon as we made it into the elevator, Ali took off her heels.
“Finally, that company is getting some good people working for them. Jack has become such a pig. He totally uses his position to get laid. Aside from his bi-annual gig as a coordinator for the POT Mixer he works as a bank teller and lives with 2 roommates. He had two women cuddled up to him and when he refused to have Erika removed, I outed his financial status to them. He was so pissed and threatened to kick me out, but he knows I’m an admin for one of the biggest sugar groups online, and if he kicked me out, women wouldn’t attend these events.”
“When’s the next POT meet and greet?” I asked.
“So you had a good time?!” Ali asked excitedly.
“I mean…it was interesting. Definitely, something I’d be open to exploring more.” I said.
