Chapter 3: The Mistress

Louie managed to send Jerard away, thankfully. "Wait for me inside. I'll just make a call." I followed him with my eyes when he started walking away. He's really going to celebrate, huh? I sighed. I didn't have the energy to argue with him when we literally walked this far. We've been walking like twenty minutes, and he never said where we were even going. Now I am in front of his own bar inside this prestigious hotel. I dragged myself towards the entrance, but the man in front stopped me. He's wearing a black suit with a tie, so I supposed his guarding this place. "ID." I frowned. I should have realized that this would happen before continuing to drag my ass here. "I don't have an ID. But I'm of legal age. Trust me." How can I have an ID when I literally only have my phone with me? I didn't even have money or any wallet with me. Lucky that the taxi that I've got earlier has wired payments, if not, I'd be borrowing money from anyone around or I'd just ditch it. "No proof of age, No entry." Right. I should just wait for him somewhere at the corner. It's the second time now that I was not granted access to all the places I frequently visited before. Hate to admit this, but I can't argue with that. It's been two years. They wouldn't remember me for sure. I can't even recognize myself now, so I must already expect that from anybody else. Not wanting to be a hindrance at the entrance, I pulled myself on the side and leaned on the wall. This time around, I should be cooking back at Arden's house for dinner. He'd always shout if there was no food at the table when he arrived from his office. I always made sure that even if he didn't want me to join the table when he was eating, he'd at least enjoy the food. I sighed. That's not even par to all the things I had experienced while living at his house. There's so much worse and worse. "What are you doing there?" My thoughts drifted away when I heard Louie's voice in front of me. He's standing there and looking at me with a frown. "Maybe because I don't have anything with me besides my phone." I pulled myself away from the wall and stood straight. "I need an ID." "I should've not expected anything." He shrugged. "Let's go." He first walked towards the person who was guarding the entrance, said something short, before he looked back at me. Not saying anything else, I walked beside him to enter. His bar is still the same. Highly sophisticated, elegant, and expensive. The dim golden lights all over the place highlights the expensive nature and feeling of his bar. However, because of this expensive place, all eyes were on us as we made our way to wherever he wanted to sit. Our choice of clothing is not so appropriate to this place. He stopped at the front bar and took a stool there to sit, so I followed and did the same, taking the seat on his left. "Why is he asking for my picture, by the way?" He was about to order his drink when I asked. He glanced at me with a frown. "All this time, that's what's been keeping you silent?" "No. I was thinking why we needed to be here when we're dressed like this." His eyes narrowed, but then he didn't give a damn over our outfits. Well, I don't mind going around like this either, it's just that we ended up in a place where elite people usually stay for a drink, and they dress elegantly. The bartender dropped a glass of whiskey in front of him even though he hadn't ordered his drink yet. "A Shirley Temple, but make it less sweet. For her." He pulled his drink toward him and took a sip. I almost ordered water. "Your father's finding you a husband." "A what?" My eyes widened in surprise. A husband? Oh please, I was just married a few hours ago, now he wants me to have another one? He glanced at me with a frown. "It's all over the internet. He personally sent them an invitation." "Invitation for what?" "A banquet. It'll happen this weekend." When the drink he ordered came, I immediately drank it. From the side of my eye, I see that he's watching me. "Did you really think your father knows nothing?" I dropped the half empty glass in front of me and looked at him with narrowed eyes. "Wasn't it you who told him?" "I'm busy. I have no time meeting him." "Busy sending pictures of those people?" "You still consider them people after what they did to you? You should stop being kind for once." "You should've ordered me alcohol if you want me to be that person then, not a lesser sweet juice." I drank every last drop of my drink and placed it back on the counter. "Another glass of this, please." I said and pushed it forward for the person in front of us. "Are you stupid?" My ears rang as my attention travelled through the familiar voice coming from behind me, but I refused to look. Louie and I met gazes with a frown. "I asked for a strong drink, but you gave me this? f**k you asshole!" "Stay here." Louie stood up to see what's going on there. Well, Kyla's making a scene again. Of all places, she decided to do that here where I am at. She already got what she wanted, now she's doing that again. She really doesn't have a class. "What's happening here?" Louie's voice echoed behind me, the same time when my drink arrived. I suddenly wanted a strong drink. Louie's glass is still half filled with whatever kind of whiskey that is. I am tempted to drink that, so I let my instinct kick in. Before my hand could even reach his drink, a hand started pulling it away from me. I looked up only to see the bartender smiling at me. "Mr. Taylor asked me to put his glass out of your reach." What the hell? "Your loyalty is unmatched, really." I rolled my eyes at him and stood up, ready to go and meet myself in the washroom. "Mitchie?" Maybe that's the most stupid thing I've ever done. I forgot that the wash room is actually in the same direction where Kyla's making a scene. Great. I forced myself not to meet Louie's eyes. I know he's mad, so do I. I stood straight, and raised my chin to meet her eyes with confidence. "Oh Hi. Didn't expect to see you here." I wonder if she already moved in. As if forgetting what she was actually mad at, she flushed a sly smile and raised a brow as she scanned me from head to toe. That feels an insult, like she always does. Well, I did not waver as I did the same. What can I say? Her choice of clothing is for attracting men. Her black tube dress is hugging her tightly, almost unable to cover her private parts. Her cleavage is so waving at me. Jeez. I could never wear that kind of dress. "I thought you already came back to your poor family? Where is that again? On a farm?" Through my side vision, I saw Louie crossing his hands over his chest, while looking intently at me. I'm still refusing to see him eye to eye. "And what do you think are you doing here? Asking for handouts? Look at your clothing, girl. That is clearly not for this place. A beggar like you will never fit anywhere here, so now, find your way out. You're a big eyesore to everyone." After getting what she wanted, now she's still mocking me for all the things she didn't know. I can't help but to smirk at her face. "What's funny?" She raised her eyebrow higher than her intelligence, but to think about it, she has actually none of that. "It's just funny how you incorporate clothes with people's social status." Once again, I eyed her from head to toe. I caught how her eyes followed my gaze with a lifted brow. "Do you really think you'd look rich when you wear that? Let me guess, that costs a few hundreds? A thousand?" "f**k off. This dress costs more than your life!" I wanted to laugh so loud to mock this woman because she doesn't even know what she's saying. "You mean, the Mitchie you know?" I grinned wider when she frowned. "Anyway, it doesn't matter in anyway, so let's put an end to this nonsensical thing and proceed to whatever you're being mad at a few minutes ago before you saw me. My time is ten times more expensive than the drink they gave you." I can feel his anger radiating out from her whole body. She's so easy to piss. I'm not yet done though. I faced the person who served her and gave him my sweetest smile. "Give her all the drink that she asks for. It's on me." Right then, I had the confidence to meet Louie's silent proud gaze. When I looked back at him, I grinned. See what I've become for that two years? I am nowhere close to the person I was before. My gaze slipped across his shoulders and right then, my smile vanished. My gaze dropped cold and flat. Three people in black suits stood tall behind him. All were looking at me as if they found their target. Kyla was about to lunge at me but one of them started dragging her away. I can't do anything but watch. Louie turned to see her being dragged away, and that's when he saw those three. He stood straight and faced them head high. One of them is preventing Kyla from coming to me. She's screaming on top of her lungs as she tries to get away. "What do you need?" Louie asked. One of them handed him something. I only knew what it was when he pulled it up towards his ear. A phone. A minute had passed when he gave it back to them. I know what's coming and it's bad. I know these people so well. He faced me with his now normal cold gaze, but he didn't say anything. I sighed. It was too soon. I guess I need to face my father now.
