I lay in my bed, looking up at the ceiling. It has been two weeks since I have gotten to this hell hole and about a week and a half since the lovely Alpha Damon moved me to a room in his worn-down packhouse. This place is a dump. I have been set up in a small room with a closet-sized bathroom in it.
I get the occasional meal, usually once or twice a day, but besides that, I have had no interaction with anyone besides my tray delivery person, since the day the Alpha came to remove me from my cell.
On the plus side, I am no longer in denial about werewolves! Yeah, it's been a rough two weeks, but after seeing a grown man turn into a wolf in front of me, I could no longer deny it.
On the downside, I still haven't heard from Aja. I am starting to think it has to do with whatever they are shooting me with every night before bed. Also, I am really worried about Cara. I feel as though I have completely failed her. To make matters worse, I have just been sitting here, and now I am becoming anxious, because what do they even want with me?
Just then, my door unlocked and opened, breaking me from my reverie. "Ahh, my pet. Long time no see. Are you ready to start executing our plan? Hmm? I have someone I'd like you to meet." Alpha Damon stated sweetly as his disgusting fingers caressed my cheek. I had nothing to say, so I looked him in the eyes with the most disgust I could muster. "Come, let's go meet our guest. We don't want to keep her waiting." He stated with a sadistic smile on his handsome face.
Alpha Damon grabbed me by my shirt and started to drag me out of the room. Once we got to the hallway of this run-down shack (I mean, seriously, who could live here comfortably?) we were greeted by what I believe was a guard. I am not sure how all this pack stuff works, but I am pretty sure he looks like he is supposed to be keeping watch. "Uhm, Alpha? No disrespect, but shouldn't she be at least chained or something?" the guard asked.
"Watch who you are questioning, boy! Worry about keeping scout, not what I am doing! Either way, the wolfsbane she gets daily has kept her wolf at bay. Her weak human self is no threat; now return to your post!" Alpha Damon bellowed in a condescending tone… Hmm, what's wolfsbane? Is it hurting Aja?
We walked down two flights of steps and out of the house. Since being dragged from the dungeon, this was the first time I could get a good look at this place. I surveyed my surroundings just in case I could break free and escape. The packhouse from the outside was a decent size but completely run down with some wooden boards hanging over the windows.
Straight ahead was a large field, and beyond that, I could see tiny run-down houses. Do people actually live here? As soon as I thought that, it seemed the universe answered my question when I saw a young woman and a small child exit a small house straight ahead. She and the child started walking toward us, and they both looked so… miserable.
When she saw us, she immediately began to tremble. She bowed her head to the side slightly as she walked by. "G..Good m.. mornin' Alpha," the poor lady stuttered out in fear. Alpha Damon just grunted and gripped my arm tighter, and drug me along. Looking back, I saw the look of pity on her face as she looked at me, then she grabbed her daughter and hurried off.
We walked into yet another abandoned-looking building. Alpha Damon pulled me down the steps into a decent-sized, dimly lit room with a long table and an equally as long light hanging from the ceiling. In the corner stood the creepiest-looking woman I have ever seen in my short 18 years of life.
She was about my height at 5'7, had long, black hair, and was wearing what looked similar to an all-black wedding dress with a black veil covering her face. Her extremely long black fingernails were really the only thing you could see from her, which stretched out from under the sleeves of her dress. She stood tall and confident with an aura that oozed evil.
"Ahh, Myrna, you have finally made it! Welcome to the Death Shadow Pack!" Alpha Damon declared eagerly. Myrna looked at him with her pitch-black eyes through her veil and stated in disgust, "Pack? You call this run-down place with all these shacks a pack? You wolves disgust me! If it weren't for our common cause and mutual "friend," I would have gladly snapped your neck awhile ago! I feel dirty just standing in your presence now; let's get started and finish so I can get away from this vile place!" I thought he would rip her a new one for such disrespect, but he just stiffened and then smirked. "
Okay, great! Well, since we are cutting all the bullshit, here she is!" He exclaimed as he pushed me forward toward the creepy lady. Myrna looked me in the eyes and smirked. It was a ghostly smirk that sent an involuntary shiver down my spine.
"Oh, and what a beauty you are! I will have such fun controlling you into destruction, little White Wolf," she stated in a sickly-sweet voice as she twisted my piece of white hair through her fingers. Why must everyone touch my patch of hair? It's annoying and intrusive, but hey, who am I but a lowly prisoner? Wait! Did she say white wolf? That rang a bell in my head as my mind drifted back to a conversation I had with Cara that I didn't particularly pay attention to at the time.
*******Flashback*******
"You will have to keep a low profile. I would highly suggest dying your hair; it's a dead giveaway," exclaimed Cara. "What? No! Do you know how long it took me to become comfortable and love this crazy white patch of hair in the front of my head? I used to be really self-conscious about it as a kid, and I won't hide it anymore! Besides, what could my birthmark possibly give away?" I declared with a little more attitude than I meant to give.
"It's a tall tell sign of the white wolf! It is said that the white wolf is only born into the royal family, and they are direct descendants of the Moon Goddess herself! There is a great prophecy that a white wolf is born every couple hundred years with vast powers to heal the land. Great darkness will arise, and the white wolf can either be used for good or evil to heal or destroy the land, either against or alongside the darkness that arises. There was only once in history when a white wolf took the side of darkness, but there will always be bad people after the powers you wield! And you are the white wolf of this generation!" Cara stated matter-of-factly.
"Soo, let me get this straight... I have crazy powers?" I started to ask, and Cara nodded her head. "And I am destined to save the world from this darkness?" Again, Cara nodded her head. "And I am some type of werewolf royalty? I asked, finishing my questioning. "Yes, your majesty," Cara responded with a deep bow.
"Hahahaha, I love you, Cara; your imagination is incredible!" I laughed so hard tears were rolling down my face. "Keep thinking it's a joke but remember all that I have told you! That birthmark of yours is a direct giveaway of who you are to anyone with half a brain and who knows the prophecy! We must be vigilant!" Cara exclaimed. I just rolled my eyes and continued to work on my crossword puzzle.
*******End Flashback********
Now I have to rack my brain for all the details Cara has told me in the past about myself and my destiny. I regret not believing her and taking her seriously before. But I mean, who could blame me? It sounded crazy, right? Either way, it seems these people know more about me than I know about myself, which is not okay. Suddenly Myrna, who is still twirling my patch of hair between her fingers, took a couple of strands of my hair and pulled.
"Ouch!" I yelled out as I rubbed my head. Myrna just smirked at me, then turned to Alpha Damon and said, "I will have everything ready in two days. Be ready to move out that night. We will start with the closest packs and extend out until we finally reach the Blood Moon Pack. By then, we will have a strong enough following to take them down! So have your s**t together, and don't make me wait!"
With those final words, Myrna waved her hand, whispered something under her breath, and disappeared into thin air. "Come, my pet, you need to rest. Saturday night will be a big night for us all!" Alpha Damon said as he gripped my arm and drug me back up the steps and towards his worn-down packhouse.
