Ugh, my head is pounding, my neck hurts, and my body is stiff. I forced my eyes open, and everything was dark and blurry. Where am I at? "Hello?" I called out. After a few moments of no response, I tried to sit up, and that's when I felt it! My arms were crisscrossed extremely tight to my chest; the top half of my body felt heavy and constricted.
"NO, NO, NO!" I screamed. A straitjacket! "AHHHHH" "Somebody help me!" I called out to absolutely no one. One thing about me is I hate my arms being restricted. Ever since I was a child, I had this thing about not being able to move my arms or scratch my nose when I wanted. I would always get this random itch somewhere, and it drives me completely mad! Oh great! Here comes the itch, and it's on my nose!
"AHH!" I yelled. I rolled over to scratch my nose on the padded floor, which did little to help.
Now that my eyes had adjusted, I could see I was in the "quiet room." There was nothing quiet about this place. You could almost hear the phantom screams of the poor souls who had been confined in this horrible place! They only slip your food through a tiny hole in the door once a day, and you do not see sunlight until you get out. I was put in here a lot when I first got to this terrible place. Aja was always freaking out, then I'd blackout and wake up in the quiet room.
************Flashback************
"Ok, let me see if I get this straight. Every werewolf is destined for a soul mate that some star goddess -" "Moon!" Cara corrected me, starting to sound irritated. I rolled my eyes. "Well, excuse me! Moon Goddess... So you're saying that this 'Moon Goddess' created all the storybook creatures that go bump in the night, and she also created each one with their own person to love?" I asked, trying to make sure I had a good understanding of what she was saying. "You make it all sound so easy but it's way deeper than that.
The mate bond is apparently so strong that you know you're completed once you find your mate. You would know if they were scared or hurt, and you would know if they were dead. It's a bond way deeper than "true love"; it's... it's destiny! Fated to -" "Ha!" I interrupted Cara. "Fate! There's no such thing! Why would anyone's life be destined to be so shitty that you would have to be stuck in such a place as this? Fate is a bunch of BS if you ask me!" I declared.
She was quick to whip her head up and look me dead in my eyes, "Let's get one thing straight; we all have a destiny, a fate. You are destined to save your people, and we were destined to meet! You will get out of here one day, and you will learn to hone your powers. You will come back for me, and I will help you in the war. A half-white witch at your service, your majesty." Car stated with a bow.
I just stared at Cara with my mouth slightly agape as I listened to her speak. She had such a way of speaking. I don't know if it was her soft and sultry voice or her passion behind what she said and how she believed every word of what she spoke, but I would always be on edge, almost believing every word. Almost. "Well then, where is your mate? If fate is so amazing?" I questioned. Cara blushed the deepest blush I have ever seen on her and replied, "I haven't found him yet, but I have to believe the goddess has someone special saved for me!"
Just then, Big Frank sat down at our table in the Rec Room. "Howya ladies," he blurted before he could finish sitting. "Hey, Big Frank," we replied in unison. "You hear about Thompson?" he asked. We shook our heads no. Not really caring about the petty tea he was about to spill, but we knew he would force us to listen anyway. "Well, I heard that the night crew went into his room two nights ago, and he hasn't been seen since. He was heard screamin' for about 10 seconds and then, nothin'." He informed us in a whisper while looking around the room.
Cara and I looked at each other alarmed. The night crew is vicious. They come into your room, and all you remember is being attacked and cornered, then you wake up a day or two later feeling like you've been hit by a truck, which could take weeks to truly heal. I hear they have their favorites, but there are occasions when the night crew goes in, and we never see that person again.
"I have finally figured out where everyone is going," Big Frank stated. After a few uncomfortable moments of silence, I finally asked, "where?" since it seemed that's what he was waiting on. "Outer Space," he said matter-of-factly. "Huh?" I questioned, scrunching my nose up.
"Aliens have taken over the bodies of the night staff and come and examine us with their extraterrestrial instruments. Sometimes they find somethin' they need to show their leaders, so they take people every now and then, and now all those people are in outer space. They are probably scared... Oh no! Do you think the government knows? Of course, they do! Those bastards! They are just letting it happen! I will catch and kill an alien if it's the last thing I do!" Big Frank said, going on a rant and starting to hyperventilate.
"And these damn aliens will-" "Frank!" Cara cut him off. "They are not aliens!" she said. "Then what are they, Miss smarty Pants" I retorted, sticking my tongue out at her. She smirked but had a solemn expression on her face. She looked at Frank, then looked at me dead in my eyes and said, "Vampires... They are here to feed. This place is a feeding ground. A bunch of people that the world threw by the wayside. Who would believe us anyway? They come and feed on us as they please, losing control and bleeding people dry every now and again. I assume they then dispose of the body, and it just looks like they left, maybe? Either way, it is starting to get out of hand. It isn't right! There is a natural order of things!" Cara fumed. I was starting to like Big Frank's alien idea better.
I looked at Cara with my head c****d to the side. She was so emotional about the things she spoke about that it pulled you in. I know Cara is delusional, but her passion is endearing, and she is truly starting to grow on me, even with her crazy stories. She seems kind and loyal, and I have appreciated her presence in helping me navigate this awful place. "Oh, I see Cara and her little sexy flunky decided to grace us with their presence," a disgusting voice spat from behind me.
I didn't even bother to turn around. "What the heck do you want, Irvin?" Cara questioned in disgust. He pulled a chair out and sat down next to me, "I want a piece of this," he retorted while rubbing his hand up my thigh. My eyes darkened as I grabbed his neck. "DON'T. f*****g. TOUCH. ME!" I growled as I started to squeeze tighter and cut off his breathing.
**********End Flashback*******
That was the last thing I remembered before Aja took over; I blacked out and woke up in the quiet room. I never seemed to catch a break initially, but I have learned to keep my head down throughout the years. It has probably been a good six months since I have even been in this horrible place; no thanks to Aja!
"Hey, anything I do is to protect you! To protect us! I swear I got stuck with the dumbest human possible!" Aja retorted to my inner thoughts. I just ignored her. I am not about to argue with myself right now and further prove my craziness. I swear I am never getting out of this place because I genuinely am crazy. Just when I think she has gone and maybe I am getting better, her sick personality inside me rears its ugly head. I swear I hate it here. "Oh, stop bitching and relax! There is nothing we can do until we get out of this padded box!" Aja responded once again to my personal thoughts.
"We are never getting out of here! You are the dummy! You do not help my case for us ever getting released from this place! Then you hurt Dr. Macky! Dr. Macky! How could you?! She has been so good to us!" I started to sob uncontrollably. "Oh, shove it! Shhh, do you hear that?" My ears perked at Aja's mention of someone possibly coming.
Just then, I heard keys jingle, then my door flew open. Two orderlies gripped me by my arm and started dragging me down a long corridor. Once we reached the main area, I was a little relieved to be out, but I knew my punishment wasn't over. As we made our way through the building, I started to realize exactly where we were going. The last place anyone wants to ever go in this place, the Director's office.
As we neared her office door, out came Dr. Karla Macky. I gave her a small apologetic smile, but the look of pure fear on her face as she kept her head down and ran past me was genuinely heartbreaking. Wow, she's scared of me now. Of course, she was, I thought, as I stalked towards the Director's door. It hurts to know she is afraid of me now, but at the moment, I have more pressing matters to attend to. As I am pushed into the Director's office, I keep my head held high. She will not break me this time!
