The Unknown

(Zephra) After the shower, I felt more human. I had some scratches and bruises, but I was sure that was from running through the forest. I was still afraid that the men that were chasing me were out there looking for me. How had these men saved me from them? How did I end up in this hospital? Where exactly was I? Would they take me back to my foster parents? Should I go back to my foster parents? There were so many questions I needed to ask but I lost all train of thought when I was around Alexander. Why was I so drawn to him? He didn't seem to be able to take his eyes off of me either. Did he like me? What was going to happen when I stepped out of this bathroom? I had been sitting on the stool that was in the bathroom for a while now, not wanting to go out. Not knowing what they were going to do with me. The clothes Riley had brought for me all fit just fine. There had been a comb and brush in the drawer all in plastic wrap, so I knew no one else had used them. The one thing you learn in foster homes is to never use someone's combs or brushes. I brushed my hair out and it felt good. I had to be careful not to hit the stitches on the back of my head. My legs were sore from all the running I had done, but for the most part, I felt good. Well, I can't stay here forever. I put the brush down and walked to the door. My hand was on the handle and I heard another door in the room shut. Maybe that was the doctor. I walked out and it was Alexander, Riley and another man in the room. They were all staring at me as I came out. I stared at the new guy, not knowing what to make of him. He had a gentle face. He was just as tall as the other two, but he seemed not so gruff as Riley. "This is Steven. He is .." Alexander looked at the man like he was lost. "Another friend of Alexander." Steven stepped towards me and shook my hand. "So do you feel better after a shower?" Alexander's voice was so soothing to listen to. I just wanted to hear him talk all day long. "Yes, thank you. I guess I should be going back to my foster home now." I looked at the floor, as I really didn't want to go back there. "Actually, the doctor has found something in your blood test that he wants to check out so he has asked that you stay a few more days." Alexander put his hand on my upper arm and walked closer to me.The sparks coming from the contact were amazing. Like little electric shocks running through my skin. They weren't painful, it just made my heart surge. "Where will I stay? Do I have to stay in the hospital?" I really didn't like hospitals. I remember being in a hospital after my adopted parents died and it brought back bad memories. "No, we have a room set up for you." Alexander started to head towards the door but never took his hand off my arm. I liked the way his hand was rubbing my arm. (Riley) "What are you doing?" I mind linked Alexander. "We can't have her running around the pack house. She is bound to notice the werewolves here, don't you think?" Alexander had lost his mind. Where could we put her that wasn't a risk to her and us? This mate bond thing definitely took the senses out of a man. "We will put her in my spare room on the Alpha floor. That way I can keep an eye on her and no one will come up there." Alexander mind linked me. Well, he had a point. No one would go to his floor. He could watch her and they would have to get past Steven and I to get to her. "Then we can spend some time together and maybe I can ease her into the fact she is a wolf." That was a conversation I defintiely wanted to see. How do you go about telling a girl that has never been told there are werewolves that she is one? "You better have the doctor on stand by with some sedatives for that conversation." I smiled at him as we walked to the elevator. He let off a small growl as he pushed the button. "Is this like a hotel you own?" Zephra was looking around with wonder in her eyes. "Yeah you could kinda say that." Steven was walking behind us and was laughing under his breath. I was not seeing the humor in the situation that he was in. He could find humor in any situation, I swear. This had always been his way all through our childhood. He had fallen out of a tree when he was seven. He cracked his wrist, had to have stitches on his head and had found it the funniest thing. (Zephra) As we walked across the lobby of the building, it reminded me of a hotel but much more homey. There were couches and televisions, a big fireplace and the whole place was filled with people walking around. They all seemed to be staring at me. I didn't mind, as I am sure they didn't get many visitors here. This was definitely an out of the way hotel. Maybe for back packing and trail guides. "Is this like a hotel you own?" The one named Steven answered with a small laugh. "Yeah you could say that." Well, what else could it be? I mean the decor was beautiful. A varitable show place. The walls were gorgeous red and gray paneling that accentuated the floor, which was a bold wood stained in deep brown. The fireplace was a rock wall fireplace that was big enough to have 5 grown men stand in. The couches were a gray fabric with little red and gray patterned pillows. There were rugs that had a crest on them but I couldn't quite make out the shape. 'River Moon' was the words on the bottom of the crest. That must be the name of the hotel. We rode the elevator to the fifth floor. It was a beautiful hall. A red carpet with gray trim going down the hall and the doors to the rooms were ornate wooden doors. They looked like solid redwood. We walked to the second door on the right and Alexander pulled a key card out of his pocket. There was a click as he ran it over the handle. They all walked in the room with me.I stopped just inside the door as it was enormous. The wall across from the door was all floor to ceiling windows with beautiful curtains of light blue and gray. The bed was huge. It had to be a California king. The bedspread matched the curtains and there were little pillows at the head that matched the beadspread. The carpet was a rich royal blue that was a very deep pile. There was a desk with a chair and a table in the other corner with two chairs at it. The first door to the left was open and I could see the sinks, so that must be the bathroom. There was another door to the left that must be to the closet. Well, I don't need that as I have no other clothes. "Thank you, this is great, but I can't afford whatever this room costs." I looked at Alexander who was standing by the bed. "You don't have to pay for it. I am letting you stay here until the doctor clears you." He said with a big smile on his face. "I can't possibly stay here." I didn't want to be indebted to anyone. Especially a man I had just met. "You can and you will. There are some clothes in the closet, so you can change for dinner. I will have the omegas bring your lunch." Riley groaned when Alexander said omegas. "What is an omega?" Alexander's face turned white as a sheet and started stuttering. "They are our maids and kitchen staff. That is just what we call them."Steven stepped up and stated. Well, I guess that is better than maids and kitchen help. Sounds like a nice title. "Alexander, we have some things to discuss about business, don't we?" Riley looked at Alexander, who was still flushed and stuttering. "Yes we do. Well, if you need anything, just have one of the omega's let me know and I will be right here." Alexander walked to the door and the others followed. They were acting weird but this gave me time to think and enjoy this beautiful room.
